«What Was Missing» is the tenth episode in the third season of Adventure Time. It’s the sixty-second episode overall.

Finn, Jake, BMO, Marceline, and Princess Bubblegum must come together and play music as a genuine band in order to open the gate of the Door Lord and retrieve their stolen items.

The scene opens to Finn checking to see if no one else is home before pulling the lock of Princess Bubblegum’s hair from the episode «To Cut a Woman’s Hair» out from under the couch. He sits down and cuddles with it until Jake comes out from behind the couch with BMO. Jake tells a startled Finn that he already knows about his «private time he spends with the wad of Princess Bubblegum’s hair.» Jake then picks up a floor board and pulls out his baby blanket to show Finn a special object of his own. Then a door appears and out hops a Door Lord. He snatches Finn’s wad of Princess Bubblegum’s hair, BMO’s controller, and Jake’s blanket. The three follow the Door Lord through a door that leads to Princess Bubblegum’s castle, where she is seen running after him and demanding that he come back, yelling «Get back here you thieving door lord! You butt!» which helps identify the creature to Finn and Jake. The Door Lord then opens another portal, which Finn, Princess Bubblegum, BMO, and Jake follow through into Marceline’s house. Marceline is trying to hit the Door Lord with her bass, until he opens up a final door that hurts Marceline with the sunlight through it. The group, now with Marceline, who has put on a pair of gloves and a sun hat which will protect her from the sun, and Princess Bubblegum, go through the final door into «Red Rock Pass,» chasing the Door Lord until he escapes into a double door that closes in front of the four. Finn then reads the words that appear on the archway that say: «This door shall yield to no command save for a song from a genuine bande.»

The crew then tries making some music to tempt the doors to open using their assorted instruments, but when Marceline begins to sing about wanting to «drink the red from your (Princess Bubblegum’s) pretty pink face» Princess Bubblegum comments that her lyrics are «too distasteful.» Marceline then replies defensively, «Oh, you don’t like that? Or do you just not like me?» Bitterly, Marceline sings I’m Just Your Problem to Princess Bubblegum, inducing shocked reactions of silence from the princess, Jake, and Finn. Since the door reacts to the truth (later realized by Finn) and the door reacted to her song, the lyrics to Marceline’s rock ballad consisted of her true feelings. At the end of her song she stumbles, stammering something that is not truthful («to. to bury you in the ground. and drink the blood from your. urgh!») causing the faces on the door to stop responding to the music, and to dim. Marceline then yells «Stop staring at me!»

Jake calls Princess Bubblegum and the others «talentless hacks» and leaves, only to come back again later (this is all part of his act as the band’s self-proclaimed jerk). Finn suggests that they have a noodle break, taking a pack of dry, uncooked noodles out of his backpack. Marceline then starts to float off to the open door that the Door Lord left open, and Finn says in a panic: «No! Wait—don’t go too!» Thinking that Marcy has decided to leave the band as well, but Marceline just tells him she is getting something to cook the noodles.

Finn continues to eat the noodles raw. Marceline comes back, with a pot and a mobile stove, and tells BMO «come here baby,» and hooks BMO up to heat the pot of water, and Finn drops his noodles into the pot. The sun goes down, and Marceline takes off her hat. When Finn suggests a song about noodles, both girls say «No!» In unison, to which they all laugh shortly afterward.

Princess Bubblegum then tries to make a new song, and Jake comes back. Jake says: «Shut yo face, I came back for the music.» After Princess Bubblegum’s plan fails due to her «miscalculations,» Marceline says that Princess Bubblegum was not as perfect as she had thought, and that she could not judge her anymore.

The two have a fight. Marceline then spits on Princess Bubblegum’s jacket, and they all begin to leave, except for Finn, who then begins to sing a song of what his best friends think of him. Marceline, Princess Bubblegum, and Jake join in as Finn sings about how they were all «best friends in the world.» The door, in response, opens to the Door Lord eating a sandwich in an empty room. The crew listens to his mumbling, and while Finn appears to be perplexed at them, Princess Bubblegum, Marceline, and Jake state that what the Door Lord had hoped for them to learn, that the real treasure was their friendships. The Door Lord smiles with glee at their revelation, but then he is shortly beaten up afterward by the five, presumably in retaliation to his thievery. Jake then passes out their stolen items. Finn receives his wad of Princess Bubblegum’s hair, where Princess Bubblegum replies, «Oh, you.» and Finn mutters under his breath «Yeesh.» Jake gets his baby blanket and BMO gets its controller back. A black T-shirt with what seems to be cinnamon rolls strangling a snake is mistaken to be Marceline’s, but is claimed by Princess Bubblegum; claiming she wears it all the time as pajamas. At the end, it is revealed that the Door Lord had not taken anything from Marceline, meaning Marceline only joined them because she wanted to hang out with the group. Marceline angrily tries to deny it and transforms into her full vampire form to chase them out of the door, but they merely laugh as they run away.

Marceline’s precious thing

I’m wondering if the reason Marceline didn’t have anything stolen by the Door Lord is because her favourite thing was previously sold by Ash? I suppose another interpretation is that her friends are her precious thing. Nymphonomicon 20:50, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

Is it true

I removed the trivia due to lack of support for curtural reference. If you can find a video that supports this, a song. Adventure Time is about two close friends — Jake, a wise old dog with a big kind heart, and Finn, a silly kid who wants more than anything else to become a great hero. These two dudes are all they have in the ways of family. They depend and lean on each other through thick and thin, they trust one another with secrets and look to each other for advice when problems get out of hand. More important than any of that, Finn and Jake crack each other up by acting like idiots and telling ridiculous jokes as they traverse their way across a massive and treacherous island seeking heart­ pounding adventure to pass the time.
At first glance you probably wouldn’t know it, but Finn is a mighty hero. It’s true, he’s passionate about heroism. For a twelve-year-old kid, saving princesses and battling sinister wizards, it’s quite an admirable hobby. Finn doesn’t know why he’s compelled to protect good from evil; it’s just something he understands is necessary. It could be in his blood, maybe his parents were noble do gooders like him. Maybe they’re royal cosmic cowboys fighting intergalactic outlaws in space, maybe they’re the presidents of righteous Dinosaur Knights. Finn doesn’t know his own mysterious origin. Even though he doesn’t have the skills to win the battle, Finn is a furious little booger when it comes to opposing evil. Finn isn’t very muscley, he’s kinda small with a big fat head and little feet. What Finn does have is a strong moral backbone, a clear set of values and a lot of nerve! That’s what makes him a hero. Standing strong in the face of adversity. Throwing caution to the wind in order to protect the ones he loves. Finn takes pleasure in all the standard kid business like making up songs and crashing monster dance parties. And when evil isn’t running amok? Finn is happy to spend those carefree moments jumping on rocks, rolling around in the grass or exploring his favorite adventure spots.
Jake is like an older brother or cool uncle to Finn. Sure, they’re both pretty young but, in dog years, Jake’s 28-years-old. Jake is very jokey, everything can be poked fun at until it gets serious. And when it’s serious, like when Finn in feeling low or sad, Jake is good at listening and knowing the most thoughtful thing to say.
Come on get ready to travel to very distant lands with Jake the dog and Finn the human the fun will never end. It’s adventure time!

Adventure Time with Finn & Jake (рус. Приключений Пора Время приключений с Финном и Джейком ) — хороший, годный и упоротый детский мультик, с модной примитивистской рисовкой в духе веб-комиксов, рассказывающий о приключениях шестнадцатилетнего (на данный момент) парня и говорящей волшебной собаки в постапокалиптическом мире, где фэнтезийные существа, драконы, магия и прочая пиздоблятия перемешаны с останками городов, ядерных взрывов, компьютерами и машинами.

Поначалу кажется, что перед нами типичный мультфильм для братьев наших меньших, но если начать приглядываться к деталям, то обнаруживается, что сказочная страна, называемая местными земля Ууу, на самом деле представляет собой мир после Большого Пиздеца, а приключения — чуть более, чем полностью — состоят из отсылок ко всяким разным РПГ, фантастическим романам и компьютерной культуре восьмибитной эпохи. И часто поднимают совсем не детские проблемы. Так что, пока ребенок наслаждается движущимися яркими картинками и знакомится с простейшими проблемами чёрно-белой морали, его папа старший брат может вовсю предаваться ностальгии и СПГС. Стартовал в 2010 году, выпущено семь полных сезонов, восьмой в состоянии разработки.

Также сериалу свойственно большое количество крипи-сцен: временами монстры и обстановка реально страшные. А также дисгастинг-сцены: например, блевать — это совершенно нормально для персонажей сериала; блевать и срать одновременно — тоже случается. Что уж говорить про всякий пердёж и потные подмышки.

Сюжет [ править ]

По соседству находятся Королевство Сладостей, с жителями которого герои тусят в мирное время, и снежные горы с Ледяным Королём, о котором еще будет сказано ниже. В королевстве начальствует принцесса Жвачка, к которой Финн испытывает сложные чувства (чем новее сезон, тем сложнее отношения). Обычно герои либо помогают ей, расхлебывая последствия ее косяков, либо выполняют поручения, либо находят себе приключений самостоятельно, гуляя по окрестностям и напарываясь на окружающее зло.

С первых же минут в глаза бросается лютая упоротость вселенной, наполненной говорящими печеньками, сюрреалистичными демонами, шизофреническими ведьмами, камнями-олигофренами, плюшевыми медведями-клабберами, тусящими в желудке монстра, и так далее.

Присутствуют путешествия по воспоминаниям, снам, местным аналогам загробного мира и преисподней, измененные временные линии, параллельные вселенные и всякие подобные тому трипы. По мере взросления сериала он отходит от темы забавных приключений, все чаще зрителю подают душевные терзания, моральный выбор и сложные личностные отношения, с каждым новым сезоном добавляют мрачности и крипоты. Однако всё это, как и раньше, разбавляется сериями в розовом с поцелуями и обнимашками, а каждая серия заканчивается обязательным хэппи-эндом.

Первые две-три серии (сезона) смотреть нелегко, уж больно у них там своя атмосфера, но через какое-то время мозг сдается и персонаж типа демона, срущего бананами из ушей, не вызовет удивления.

Сюжет, как заведено у ситкомов, здесь имеет второстепенное значение и раскрывается обычно двумя-тремя сериями в сезоне. Остальные серии — не связанные между собой истории, хотя прослеживается общая временная цепь (каждую серию герои немного взрослеют). Так же, как и в других ситкомах, есть 2-3 серии с крайне странным содержимым, вроде путешествий по психоделичным снам и глюкам, видимо, сделанные создателями для создателей или просто для объема. Чем свежее сезон — тем больше в нем сюрреалистичных серий.

Персонажи [ править ]

Создатели сериала не ограничивают себя ничем и создают по мере надобности существ с любыми свойствами. Если сюжету нужны люди-дома, истребляемые учеными-оборотнями, которые боятся говорящего брокколи с любовью к выжиманию яиц из куриц, то будет весь комплект. Большинство персонажей нарисованы, как и главгерои, очень просто, но при этом очень оригинально.

Отдельной фичей — широкий ассортимент разнообразных принцесс: Жвачка, Пупырка, Слизь, Малина, Хот-дог, Эмбрион, Призрак, Зомби и даже Принцесса-завтрак, но есть и другие. Алсо, есть Доктор Принцесса, которая на самом деле не принцесса, а доктор, просто у нее фамилия такая. Существующее в сериале количество рас даже никто считать не пытался.

В угоду фанам, придумавшим заменить мальчика на девочку, а собаку — на кошку, были выпущены три реверс-гендерные серии про Фионну и Пирожка (Fionna and Cake), в которых пол всех персонажей изменен на противоположный (в сериале обыгрывается как сказка авторства Ледяного Короля, то есть выдуманная внутри вселенной история, которую он рассказывает).

Princess Bubblegum (В официальном переводе — Принцесса Бубльгум, в фанатских — Принцесса Жвачка) — законный правитель Конфетного Королевства. Научный гений, главный создатель разнообразных хитрых изобретений и инициатор гениальных экспериментов в сериале. Впрочем, иногда почти всегда в прикидках ошибается и становится источником проблем для всего Конфетного Королевства. Иногда говорит по-немецки и проявляет садистские наклонности. Несмотря на свой статус и пытливый ум, тусуется не только со своими «чемпионами» Финном и Джейком, но и со всеми подданными вообще, так что претендует на роль Богини. Тайный объект фапа Финна, но сама не считает его «просто другом». Имеет множество транспортных средств: Леди Ливнерог, птица Завтра, лебедь, розовое существо, отдалённо напоминающее лошадь. (спойлер: По ходу сериала Финн был уверен что ей 18-19 лет, и она лишь немного старше его, но в 17 серии 5 сезона она как бы не отрицает, что ей гооораздо больше лет, и вообще неизвестно, как давно она уже живёт. А в 7-й серии 5-го сезона проскальзывают намеки что она, возможно, ровесница мира Ууу как первая личность, обретшая разум. )
