Здравствуйте,у меня вопрос по п.4 в тесте Complex Object.Почему правильным считается третий вариант ответа? Народ наблюдал,как поезд прибывает на станцию…На лицо процесс протекания действия,значит,нужно использовать причастие 1:»…watched the train arriving»…Либо,как вариант,использовать настоящее время,тогда действительно,верным будет третий вариант ответа (и с «s» на конце):»The people on the platform watch the train arrives at the station».Не так ли?

@Александр, правильным в данной конструкции будет либо причастие 1 (arriving), либо инфинитив без частицы to (arrive). Так как нет варианта с причастием, значит, правильным будет последний вариант. «Люди смотрели, как прибыл /прибывал поезд». Как правило, если мы говорим о действии в процессе, то используется причастие, но употребление вместо него инфинитива не является ошибкой, особенно в вырванных из контекста примерах.

Либо,как вариант,использовать настоящее время,тогда действительно,верным будет третий вариант ответа (и с «s» на конце):»The people on the platform watch the train arrives at the station».Не так ли?

Не совсем верно. Люди на платформе (часто/обычно) наблюдают, как прибывает поезд — в данном случае в придаточном предложении следует использовать Present Continuous:
The people on the platform watch how the train is arriving.

Fears for Lone Missing Climber

Fears are growing here for a lone climber missing for the past 48 hours. Jamie Biddals, 32, from New Zealand, is known to have left Kathmandu alone six days ago but has not been seen since.
