Hey, Kate. You know that? I’ve just found two pictures suitable for our project “Listening to music”. Let me tell you a bit more about them.

These pictures are relevant to our project because there are people listening to music. In the first photo there is a young man listening to the music. He has giant headphones. He is probably trying to sing, which means that he knows the song he is listening to. His eyes are closed. In the second picture there is a man as well. He is singing a song at a concert. It is probably a rock concert.

There are a few differences to illustrate our project better. Obviously, in the photo number one a man is a co-singer, he mostly listens to the music. Meanwhile, in the second picture the man sings his own song, he is a performer. Also, in the first picture there is no audience, while in the second one there is a crowd of listeners.

In my opinion, the two ways of listening to music have their advantages and disadvantages. For instance, when a person listens to music alone, he can choose songs he like best of all. However, a person cannot listen to music loudly because of the neighbors. As for a live music concert, it provides an opportunity to share the happiness with co-thinkers and experience new emotions or rekindle old ones. Though, this is an expensive pleasure.

As for me I prefer listening to music on the concerts because the singer performs it alive and there is an opportunity to feel his energy.

The project I am working on is aimed at establishing what music genres are popular among teenagers in Zetland. I have found some data on this issue and now I am ready to analyse my findin gs.

As it can be seen from the table, pop music is reported by more than 41 % of the teenagers making this choice the most preferable one. Rap (22.1 %) is very closely followed by country genre (15.3 %) which is also liked by less than a fifth of the adolescents. Another key feature is that a very small number o f respondents prefers classical music putting this genre at the bottom of the tab le.

My project, which I am still working on, is aimed at finding out what music genres are popular in the modern world. I have found some data on this issue and organised it in the table below.

I can identify two main features of the statistics presented in the table. The first one is that more than a fifth of people prefer alternative rock, making this genre the single most popular one. The second feature is that only 4.1% of people reported rap to be their favourite, putting this genre at the bottom of the table.

It is also worth mentioning that alternative rock is only slightly more popular than folk music, with only 0.6% more people who prefer it.

In my opinion, the statistics in the table reveal an important problem. We can see that the table does not feature classical music, which is extremely important for the cultural education of every person. I think that in order to solve this problem schools focus more on musical education.

40.2. Books are an important aspect of people’s lives and are a vital source of knowledge. Nowadays it is becoming even more common to see ebooks and audiobooks, which have taken a toll on the popularity of books. My project, which I am still working on, is aimed at finding out the sales of books in the UK. I have found some data on this issue and organized it in the chart below.

I can Identify two main features of the statistics presented in the chart. The first one is that the sales of books in 2011 were the highest sales of books in the UK at around 350 millions. The second feature is that the sales dropped tremendously in 2013 to 180 millions.

It is also worth mentioning that from 2013 to 2015 there was only a slight increase of sales by 10 millions.

In my opinion, the statistics in the chart reveal an important problem. In the table there is no mention of different forms of books, such as ebooks and audiobooks. I think that in order to solve this problem there should be an integration of the data recollected around book sales regarding ebooks and audiobook sales.

In conclusion, I consider that a way of making use of the data revolving around the number of sales books have can be used to redirect the production to the kind of books with the higher number of sales.

I can identify two main features according to the statistics presented in the chart. The first one is that the majority of people use the train, making this way of commuting the most popular one. The second feature is that commuting by motorbike is the least popular in Japan, while the second most popular one is commuting by car.

It is also worth mentioning that commuting by bus is slightly more popular than by walking.

In conclusion, I believe that promoting eco-friendly alternatives like electrical scooters or bicycles around the city is a great way to decrease the concentration of CO2 in the air. 40.1 Nowadays a lot of teenagers spend their free time listening to music particularly there is a variety of music genres. The aim of the project I am currently working on is to find out more about it. As part of my project, I have found and analyzed some data on the most popular music genres among teenagers in Zetland.

According to the data, the teenagers in Zetland have quite a wide range of tastes when it comes to music genres. The vast majority of the respondents enjoy listening to alternative rock music as well as pop music (34% and 30% respectively). Rock music are also quite popular with the teenage listeners in Zetland (19%), whereas folk music appears to be the least popular music genre.

It is worth mentioning that rap is three times less popular than pop music. To my mind, younger generation loves dreaming, speaking about their feelings, dancing and they always fall in love that is why they choose this music genre more often.

Statistics reveal one problem connected with music industry. Obviously, there is no classical music in the table. Thus, teenagers in Zetland prefer listening to music for relaxation than broadening their horizons. One solution to this problem is to hold classical music festivals for teenagers there they can meet famous musicians and opera singers, listen to music together and discuss it.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that music industry is very important for teenagers’ life in Zetland. I hope the adolescents will be able to learn more listening to music. (256 words)

40.2 Many people believe that surfing the internet is an essential part of modern life particularly there is a variety of devices helping do it. The aim of the project I am working on is to find out more about it. As part of my project, I have found and analyzed some data on what device is mostly used for connecting to the internet in Zetland.

According to the data, there is quite a wide range of devices providing access to the internet. It is clear that the majority of the respondents prefer using mobile phones as well as personal computers to stay in contact (42% and 25% respectively). However, TV connected to the global net is not so popular in Zetland, only 3% of the respondents chooses it to watch films online.

It is worth mentioning that laptops are two times as popular as tablets. To my mind, younger generation consider tablets to be too large for being taken everywhere. At the same time, businessmen prefer laptops to tablets because the second ones are suitable for work.

One problem that people often face surfing the internet is the poor quality of signal in some areas. It is very crucial nowadays due to the internet is necessary for working as well as for studying. One solution to this problem is to create free Wi-Fi zones in public places, such as libraries, railway stations, parks where people can spend their time effectively and gain access to the internet for free.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that the internet plays a significant role in human life. I hope people will use it wisely. (270 words)
