Hi Tom! I’ve found a couple of photos for our project “Education nowadays” and I’d like to share some thoughts about it.

In the first picture, students are having traditional learning at school.

They look active and interested in their classes.

While in the second photo, it’s a boy sitting in front of computer and having distance learning.

He is concentrated on his study.

These photos have some important differences.

The first picture shows a classroom, while in the second one, it’s a place to live.

Secondly, on the left, we can see a lot of students in the cabinet, whereas, in the right pic, boy is studying alone at home.

п .3 Mention the advantages and disadvantages (1-2) of the two types of education;

In my opinion, these types of education have both advantages and disadvantages.

Some children prefer traditional learning because it is more effective and useful. They can have a real contact with their classmates and find it funnier. On the other hand, you spend much time at school and have to wear a school uniform.

As for distance learning, one of the advantages is that students can have more opportunities to study themselves, and they use more Information Technologies. However, sitting in front of computer too long is harmful for our health.

п .4 Explain how these photos illustrate the project “Education nowadays”;

These photos are a good choice for our project because they show that education nowadays has two different types: traditional and distance learning. And it shows that these two types of education are important and possible in our life.

For instance, students on the left enjoying their time in the classroom, unlike the boy on the right, doing the tasks alone using the computer.

As for me, I would like to study at school. I like to listen to my teacher in real, because it is easier to understand the new material, I like to meet my friends and spend the time with them.

As soon as spring brings a new growth of bushes and berries, bears start feeding. They eat and eat. All through the spring and summer their feeding goes on. The bears build themselves up. They store food and fats that they will need in the fall when they start their long sleep.
As days grow shorter, and the temperature begins to fall, bears hunt for a sleeping place. It may be a shallow cave, or a deep crack between rocks. Some bears end up sleeping in hollow logs. Logs seem to be bears’ favourite places. Bears seem to choose small spaces. They can keep warmer in a cave that’s just large enough to hold them than in a larger cave. They often line their sleeping place with leaves and dried grass.
All through their winter naps, bears will not eat. Often they will sleep for 7 months, moving only now and then.

A female chimp has learned how to use the Arabic numerals, 1 to 9, to memorise the order of five numbers. She, unlike males, was able to remember the sequence of at least five numbers. This is the same or even more than pre-school children can do. It comes as no surprise to scientists who discover something else that chimpanzees can do every year, bringing them closer to us. People can normally remember a sevendigit number at first sight. This is our brain’s “magic number”. A chimp’s brain is only half the size of ours. Yet, they remember five digits. In an experiment, a chimp was shown five numbers on a computer screen. Her task was then to touch each number in the correct order. In order to perform the task successfully, she had to memorise all the numbers. And she did. She got the fourth number correct 90 % of the time, and the fifth number correct 65 % of the time.

Hey, Kate. You know that? I’ve just found two pictures suitable for our project “Sleep and studying”. Let me tell you a bit more about them.

They are relevant to our project because in both pictures we can see students sleeping in different places. In the photo number one there is a young man in a class. He is laying on the table and sleeping during the lecture. In the picture number two there is a young man, who is sleeping as well. He is probably at home, sleeping on the couch. It looks like his sleep is very deep, the couch should be cozy.

There are a few differences to illustrate our project better. For example, in the first photo a guy is sleeping in a classroom. In the second one other guy is sleeping on the sofa, at home.

In my opinion, both types of sleeping habits have their advantages and disadvantages. For instance, sleeping at home is much healthier for keeping up with a set schedule, but it sometimes has to be skipped due to a high workload.

Personally, I prefer sleeping well at home. I much prefer to be awake and aware in class and I try to prepare for school in a timely manner before my bedtime.

Hey, Kate. You know that? I’ve just found two pictures suitable for our project “The art of tackling problems”. Let me tell you a bit more about them.

They are relevant to our project because in both pictures there are people taking up the challenge. In the first photo there is a class of children presented with a school problem. They are not really focused on it. In the second photo, there are two people trying to solve an engineering problem. They seem to be progressing steadily.

There are a few differences to illustrate our project better. Obviously, the first picture features a group of kids, while the second one features two adults. Moreover, the adults are much more concentrated on the problem than the children are.

In my opinion, completing schoolwork and working for an employer have their advantages and disadvantages. For instance, completing their school homework helps schoolchildren be well-educated, but they can feel in vain as no clear reward is given for doing it. Working in an office, for example, is much more profitable; however, it usually doesn’t lead to personal development.

I believe that I would perform better in a professional environment as there would be more proficient people that could work with me, as well as a much clearer goal ahead.
