Влад: Доброе утро, мама. Как дела?
Мама: Спасибо, хорошо. Ты хорошо спал?
Влад: Да, спасибо. Где папа?
Мама: Они с Алексеем ушли полчаса назад. Пошли в магазин. Влад, скоро у тебя день рождения. Ты собираешься в этом году устраивать праздник?
Влад: Ну, мне бы хотелось. Знаешь, мамуль, сейчас, когда я учусь в колледже, у меня много новых друзей. Было бы здорово, если бы я мог пригласить их к себе домой.
Мама: Отличная идея! Давай посчитаем, сколько народу ты собираешься пригласить, чтобы я могла составить меню и все остальное.
Влад: Я хочу пригласить своих лучших друзей. Это Илья, Степан и Игорь.
Мама: Я кого-нибудь из них знаю?
Мама: А, теперь я поняла, о ком ты говоришь. Он увлекается музыкой и хорошо играет на гитаре. Хорошо, а что насчет остальных?
Влад: Степан – веселый худенький невысокий парень с каштановыми волосами и курносым носом. Он увлекается научной фантастикой, и я брал у него несколько книг почитать. Он очень приятный в общении. Я люблю с ним беседовать. Он приходил к нам домой в октябре. Но тебя тогда не было дома. Папа его видел, кажется. А Игорь – мой новый друг. Он очень умный. Учителя говорят, что он – компьютерный гений. Но он не ботаник. Он играет в волейбол и хорошо плавает.
Мама: Хочешь пригласить кого-то из своих бывших одноклассников?
Влад: На самом деле, хорошо было бы пригласить Мишу. Я его сто лет не видел.
Мама: Хорошо, а Лену пригласишь?
Влад: Да, конечно!
Мама: Тогда тебе и друзей нужно приглашать с девушками.
Влад: Ты права, мама! Ну, девушка Игоря учится с нами в колледже, а Илья брал с собой Машу этим летом, ну, ты знаешь, когда наша группа ходила в поход на три дня. Она добродушная и дружелюбная. А примерно неделю назад я видел Степана с красивой длинноногой блондинкой. Подозреваю, это его новая девушка.
Мама: А как насчет Миши?
Влад: Насколько я знаю, У него сейчас никого нет.
Мама: Может быть, пригласишь кого-нибудь из класса, кто с ним дружит?
Влад: Почему бы и нет. Приглашу Веронику. Она очень общительная. И мне тоже будет приятно ее видеть.
Мама: Итак, сколько же человек у нас получилось в итоге?
Влад: Дай мне посчитать… Игорь и Ольга, Степан со своей девушкой, Илья, Маша, Миша и Вероника. И мы с Леной, конечно же. Всего 10 человек. Ну, это будет великолепный день рождения, мамочка!

Both sides of my family — my mum`s and my dad`s — are from a very small town south of London. My father is the postman and he also runs the local garage. Three of them went away to the States when they were in their twenties but they came back a few years ago. They were nurses and they worked in Boston for about fifteen years.
