It’s rude. Whether they missed it by a fraction or completely fluffed it.
So yeah, in modern parlance «toxic» is probably accurate.
yes it is. but for me, i dont care

But who is more toxic, me saying «What a save!» that was implemented by Psyonix themselves or that one butthurt boi who flames me just becouse he cant hit the ball?
I feel like you’re being intentionally obtuse here. The «What a save» quickchat is there for non-sarcastic reactions to an actual save made by a teammate. I personally don’t care, but if you’re using it for any other purpose, you’re being a ♥♥♥♥, fact.

When you start it, because you have the urge to mock him for not saving the ball, then you are the toxic one. You start it and you get what you deserve. Don’t be an as-sh-ole.
Some might say it’s part of the game ( but only those who clearly have a twisted vision about what healthy competition is ). Mocking own opponents ( or own teammates ) is always toxic. No matter if you write something on a chat by your own fingers or used quick-chat to do it for you.
And if you try to play a jerk but can’t handle a truth about being a jerk. Maybe you doesn’t feel comfortable with it and there’s still hope for you (:
There are always bad eggs in every community.
I would really like to see where it says that this was the intended use.
I believe you need two factors to understand the intensions behind those quick-chats:
1) Understand english words
2) Have a common sense
What you’re talking about ( but clearly don’t understand how to put it in words ) is that you use «What a save» in sarcastic way and see no harm in using it that way because in your opinion it’s funny.

Its sad that people nowadays get offended by anything.
Instead of flaming me for missing your save and being a beany boii dont take it seriously and say «Thanks!» «Calculated» witch is way more funny

Depends on the timing. If the other team actually makes a good save and you use it, its fine. When your teammate makes one, its also fine. Its when someone misses a save and it gets spammed that it is toxic. It is pointing out someone’s mistake in an attempt to tilt them. So yes, it can be considered toxic if you’re using it in that manner.
Some people suck and are soft. Irregardless, if the intent is to «get into other teams head» then you already admitted that the intentions are bad. You can still be competitive without coming off like a jerk.
the game is 95% toxic. with a reporting system that does barely anything unless you said a «bad» word.
It needs a blacklist system so i can never play with losers who like to throw or constantly go afk or are just in general toxic.
Just had a game where the guy was intentionally throwing by playing for other team.. like why?

Not being a jerk it’s being competitive
Being competitive is saying something like «Welcome to Diamond!» or «That’s how you do an aerial!»
Saying «What a save!» in an ironic manner or «GGEZ!» at the end of a game you won is, without question, being a jerk.
If you still don’t see the difference here is how they are different: The former highlights your skill. The latter points out their flaws. Brag about yourself, don’t ridicule the other team.
Besides, if you they really are worse than you and you make them feel welcome in playing against you. they will stick around for an extra game and you can beat them a second time. Try it. Its proven to work.

Yep. Qualified in industrial dispute resolution and arbitration.

What I say is don’t act all surprised when being sarcastic to people you don’t know annoys them, because it will, because it’s rude.
Manners are important.
Yeah it’s pretty toxic. Your Pretty much making fun of them for a,mistake. Cmon man mature a little
In what world would you not use «Close one!» instead if you wanted them to know it was a good attempt? This is a bait thread and I’m feeding the troll by replying anyway.
«L3m0n Ku5h» is just entirely wrong, and thinks that «being offended» is a bad thing that is never ever supposed to be a normal feeling. Insults are simply insulting. I don’t always think you should get offended on another’s behalf, but it is perfectly fine to be offended by an insulting comment.
That being said, «What A Save!» is perfectly acceptable when someone makes a save, or as a sarcastic joke amongst friends, the friendly environment changes the perceived intention of the phrase.
Spamming «What A Save!» to a stranger in any match, is simply rude and insulting, in that case, sarcasm isn’t sarcasm anymore, it’s now become sardonism.
Yes. It’s toxic. But it’s not like you’ve told someone to kill themselves. There’s degrees to all things.

Toxic behaviors and how people handle confronting those behaviors is completly two different stories, I don’t know why so many people here blend those together saying toxicity is fine.
yes it is. but for me, i dont care
Really dissapointing that people actualy think its toxic.
Why you don’t play like a normal person, if you spam the chat, you are a i***t. And why moch another player? You think its funny?
Normal people do spam What a save! I see it in nearly every match.

People that use quick chat to mock are just dumb kids with miserable lifes. They are trying to raise ego by lowering yours.
Pity them, video game is the only thing that keeps them alive.

This is very true, just because I mute intellectually disabled clowns doesn’t necessarily mean I’m offended by intellectually disabled clowns. It just means I’d rather focus on the game.
The whole “just don’t get offended” arguement is weak at best and is a tactic to shut down stupid people.
