With the dawning of the new era of ArcheAge, we’d like to take this opportunity to reveal more details about some of the changes that we plan to implement in ArcheAge: Unchained.

We’ve thought long and hard about the idea behind ArcheAge: Unchained and what is needed to fulfill your vision of what Unchained represents. We’ve made some pretty significant changes to how the service will be provided, what will be available in the cash shop, and how various functions such as ArchePass and Patron will work.

ArcheAge: Unchained will now have a subscription model!

In order to remove the possibility to increase in-game power with real-life currency, we’ve opted for a monthly subscription method. Many of the previously paid benefits and Marketplace-only items will be automatically included for free or acquired through in-game methods with Manastorm Crystals. This gives even more value to the subscription. Also, any paid items will be purely cosmetic. The monthly subscription will be set at 9.99($,€) for 30 days. A discount can be obtained by purchasing subscriptions for longer periods of time.

In addition, we know that many of you paid for either the original purchase or for DLC. This will be compensated with free time according to the table below.

All ArcheAge:Unchained players

*The compensation is cumulative, meaning a maximum of 150 days will be awarded to everyone who purchased all DLC. Please note that the above compensation reflects the value of the DLC and not additional bonus items that were included in bundles.
** Gunslinger DLC includes compensation for the server access tickets that were included in the DLC.

Furthermore, all players both new and experienced will receive a 30-day free trial, meaning up to 180 days of free time in total.

Marketplace Items

The Marketplace will not offer any paid power boosts and will be only for cosmetic outfits, furniture, etc. Previously attainable items will only be able to be purchased by spending in-game currencies which need to be earned by playing the game.

With the global build, new content will no longer be behind DLC purchases and will be available to all players for free in both ArcheAge and ArcheAge: Unchained.

Patron

The Patron system will be upgraded and will be free to all ArcheAge: Unchained players as part of the monthly subscription. The exact details of the upgrade will be announced later.

ArchePass

During the first month of service, ArchePass will be given to all players.

The price of the premium ArchePass will be changed to cost 500 Loyalty Tokens. Loyalty Tokens can not be purchased for real cash (Please check the details on how Loyalty Tokens are obtained below).

The Land Rush will start on December 18th at 11:00 AM UTC for the EU servers and at 01:00 PM PST for the NA ones. Please note that this is a week later than initially communicated. The reason for this are several player issues found after ArcheAge’s server launch on December 3.

Important information about Land Rush

Q. How will Kakao Games prevent hackers from claiming land once the transfer is completed and servers are open?
A. We will be monitoring servers closely. Anyone who abuses an exploit or uses a “land hack” will find their house swiftly demolished, and their account will receive a punishment determined by the Customer Service team.

Q. During the Land Rush, will the housing areas be put into Peace?
A. No, the housing areas will not be put into Peace during the Land Rush.

Q. Will the Auroria Land Rush be at the same time as the East/West Land Rush, or will it be staggered?
A. The Auroria Land Rush will not be staggered and will happen at the same time as the normal Land Rush.

Q. Will Beanstalks be disabled for the Land Rush?
A. No, it is not possible to disable the placement of a single type of design, including Beanstalks Mansions.

We will be conducting maintenance at the following times, for an estimated duration of 5 hours:

The Patch Notes for the upcoming maintenance are as follows:

A bottleneck for a certain part of a main quest was resolved.
* The Cactus and Thistle you need to obtain during a Nuia Story Quest will now be available through interacting with an NPC.

The minimum participant waiting time was slightly decreased for Sea of Drowned Love and Serpentis.

The cost of Gold for improving Hiram Guardian Equipment was reduced for certain intervals of improvement.

The Cactus and Thistle which was available to purchase for free at the Shop only at the new ArcheAge and ArcheAge: Unchained servers were removed, and will now be available as quest items obtained by interacting with an NPC.

The waiting times for deleting characters were restored to the same times as before:
Lv1–9: 10 min
Lv10–29: 1 day
Lv30 and beyond: 7 days

The «Crest Trade Pack Storage» from ArcheAge: Unchained’s Credit Shop was moved to the Manastorm Shop.

Fixed the issue where some of the vehicle music would not be affected by adjusting the Music Volume.

Fixed the issue where the quest completion item for Golden Plains Battle had the incorrect name.

The Guild Base Teleportation Device no longer has a cooldown.

You can now build a Guild Base at Grand Housing Provinces and provinces exclusive for Houses.

Fixed the issue where previously applied Faction Statue buff effects were applied at a Territory’s Faction Flag.

Fixed the issue where Storage UI would not open when trying to use a Storage being used by another player.

Fixed the issue where players who had Jake’s Blessing applied could not open up the Transfer Launch Box.

The purchase limits for Any-Post Owl and Anywhere Warehouse, which could not be purchased at ArcheAge: Unchained’s shop due to exceeding the purchase limit prior to the transfer of service, will have their limits reset.

First, I already played the game with the Standalone version from the Kakao website, so I have more time on it as Steam show right now.

I played ArcheAge the last time when it was in beta in Russia (and before that Korean CBT5 to first release days). So this version is completely new for me, but I still find many things that I remember from back in that time.

Some years ago I want to play it, but it was F2P and I avoid F2P MMOs because of always P2W and then Gamigo takes over, even more worse and more P2W for sure, also in Unchained.

In the mean time Kakaogames bought XLGames in 2020, the developer of ArcheAge, and decided to host the game by themself and reduce it to one version world wide. Means the actual version we play is from the content identically with the Korean version now.

Kakaogames has already a solid reputation when they run BlackDesert Online. From what I heard BDO players like it more when Kakao run it instead of Pearl Abyss, the BDO developer, now.

The next weeks and months will show us how good this game is under Kakao, the owner of the ArcheAge developers, who are working on ArcheAge 2 too. So they have an interest, that this is possible the best version of ArcheAge (Unchained) to not damage ArcheAge 2 even before it came out. So I say: if you are interested, keep watching what Kakao will do with the game in the next weeks/months and don’t hear too much to that crybabys in the other reviews who don’t have any clue about the MMO market.

I will update this review as soon I played some more days/weeks. I really loved the source game concept back when it was first in development and had many fun with other players together. I can not say right now if that could be possible again.

ArcheAge Unchained: за что критикуют и хвалят игру, есть ли у неё будущее?

В середине октября состоялся релиз платной версии ArcheAge: Unchained от европейского издателя Gamigo. Он обещал улучшенную графику и полное отсутствие всех элементов pay-to-win. Монетизация представлена лишь дополнительной подпиской Archepass и косметикой, которая не даёт преимуществ.

Но насколько хорошим получилось переиздание ArcheAge? За что критикуют и хвалят игру, есть ли у неё будущее? Постараемся разобраться в этой статье.

Главные проблемы игры

К счастью, мы не нашли никаких элементов pay-to-win, но недостатки в игре всё же есть. Одним из главных является именно подписка Archepass. Дело в том, что ежедневные задания предоставляют в основном золото и часто различаются у всех игроков, из-за чего система используется исключительно для фарма валюты и невозможно применять её в группах. Всё это разрушает элемент песочницы / взаимодействия между игроками и делает её похожей на классическую ММО. Многие даже просят полностью убрать Archepass и придумать ему замену.

Другой проблемой являются постоянные очереди, которые есть и по сей день, в прайм-тайм они достигают от 1000, до 4000 человек. Конечно, это заметно меньше, чем поначалу, но многие игроки настроены скептически не ожидают дальнейшего уменьшения.

Что новые игроки говорят об Unchained?

Многие новые игроки, похоже, поглощены игрой. Здесь представлены самые популярные мнения и комментарии на Reddit:

Dnotel: «Наконец, после долгих лет поисков, я нашел новый дом. По достижении 40-го уровня, кажется, в этой игре так много всего, что пока не знаю, но я уже владею землей, выращиваю животных и овощи. Что ветераны говорят о Unchained?

В то время как многие новые игроки в восторге, ветераны более придирчивы.

Пользователь Reddit Brokeng3ars видит направленность на Themepark (классику): «Archepass активно разрушает экономику, легко эксплуатируется и превращает MMO-песочницу в themepark. Если вы хотите выполнять миллион ежедневных заданий в течение дня, то для этого есть много других, лучших themepark ММО».

Длинные очереди тоже не нравятся ветеранам. По их мнению, Gamigo стоило подготовиться к такому натиску.

Также поступают жалобы на отсутствие снисхождения к людям с подпиской. При повторном входе или переподключении они должны снова стоять в конце очереди со всеми. В прайм-тайм это обычно занимает десятки минут.

Хорошие шансы стать действительно востребованной

Игра действительно понравилась огромному числу людей. Все хвалят стабильность серверов и удаление элементов Pay2Win, которые мешали. Отмечают малое количество читеров и ботоводов, что намекает на совершенствование системы защиты, о которой не раз говорилось в различных интервью.

Ещё пользователи оценили постепенный ввод земли в эксплуатацию и отсутствие по этому поводу негатива. Один игрок даже поделился интересной историей:

SharkOnGames: Я вышел из системы на месте, за ночь до того, как началась земельная лихорадка. На следующий день (около 9:45 утра, в 10 часов должен был быть снят запрет), я вошел в систему и сразу же группа игроков спросила, собираюсь ли я бронировать землю.

Честно говоря, моей первой мыслью было то, что они собираются запугать меня. Поэтому я был готов быть безжалостным и занять как можно больше места / земли. Но вместо этого получил предложение присоединиться к разделу территорий в чате со всеми.

Один из людей создал электронную таблицу, поделился с группой и наметил земельные участки каждого (один 8×8, два 16×16 каждый). Они даже отмечали внутриигровые углы каждого лота посаженным рисом, чтобы легко разместиться именно там, где нужно. И они спланировали это так, чтобы все ещё оставалось достаточно места для преобразования участков. Затем в игре появилось сообщение «Земля теперь доступна», и в течение 60 секунд мы все разместились точно в нужных местах.

Просто хотел поделиться с остальными. Я действительно наслаждаюсь сообществом в ArcheAge Unchained!

Как выглядит будущее Unchained?

Сейчас игру критикуют лишь за количество очередей и Archepass. Очереди, вероятно, уменьшатся в скором времени. Но что касается ArchePass, то многие игроки его уже приобрели и Gamigo вряд ли изменит элементы подписки в ближайшее время. Однако в том, что это произойдёт, сомнений нет.

Будущее ArcheAge Unchained выглядит более чем радужно. Многие пользователи рассматривают переиздание как пример для азиатских и западных MMORPG. Будем надеяться, что эксперимент Gamigo окажется успешным и тогда, возможно, даже российские компании попытаются перенять опыт издателя.
