Nowadays learning foreign languages is very popular. It is a hobby for millions of people who want to be successful and happy. However, is learning languages worth spending so much time and effort on?

As for me, I think learning languages has many advantages. To begin with, it helps travel around the world and communicate with people from different nations. Furthermore, the people who speak more than one language are likely to get a higher-paid job than those who do not have foreign language skills. Finally, learning languages improves one’s memory and broaden mind.

On the other hand, some people think that learning foreign languages is a waste of time and money. In their mind, foreign language skills are not necessary either in travelling abroad or in getting a good job.

I cannot agree with these people. Knowing at least one foreign language is a must for everybody who wants to make a good career and gain success because technological advances such as the Internet, cellular phones, computers improved the way different countries cooperate and conduct business.

To sum up, I would say that learning foreign languages is very important. Not only is it a great way to spend time and relax, but it also can easily help become successful and make a good career.

There is no doubt that learning foreign languages is an essential part of modern life. Some people think that every educated person must learn at least one foreign language, while others believe that time and money should be spent on something more useful. Let us examine this problem more closely.

According to Geoffrey Willans, «You can never understand one language until you understand at least two.» The idea is that learning a foreign language implies deeper understanding of your native language. My personal view is that the more languages you know, the more opportunities you have for being successful in life. First of all, foreign languages broaden your mind and help discover the diversity of other cultures. Secondly, the ability to fluently speak foreign languages may help you find a well-paid job. Thirdly, language skills will make you feel more at home when you travel abroad.

However, some people think that fluency in foreign languages is a skill that is only useful when people emigrate or look for a job in an international company. In all other cases, in their opinion, learning foreign languages is just a waste of money and time.

The idea is worth considering but I cannot share this view because as soon as it comes to a well-paid job, a good command of a foreign language is a must for most established companies. Moreover, foreign languages are our travel companions.

All things considered, it seems reasonable to assume that foreign languages are our ticket to the world full of fascinating places, exciting events and interesting people. Sufficient language skills are essential if you want to travel around the world and improve yourself.

Принимая во внимание все вышесказанное, весьма разумным было бы предположить, что иностранные языки – это наш билет в мир, полный удивительных мест, увлекательных событий и интересных людей. Достаточные языковые навыки очень важны, если вы намерены путешествовать по миру и развиваться.

Nowadays, there is a great number of people thinking that to learn foreign languages is useful. Others say it is useless and they will never use these languages. In this essay, I will try to express my opinion on this issue.

To my mind, a person should know more than one language. Firstly, you can go to other countries without any problems. You can communicate with a lot of new people. Secondly, people who speak foreign languages have higher-paid jobs. Moreover, learning languages improves your memory.

Other people believe that to learn a language is a waste of money and time. They think that it is very expensive to learn a language and that it takes a long time to accomplish. They think that foreign languages are not necessary for their job or travelling.

Personally, I do not agree with this statement because of how long it takes and how much it costs depends on the learner. Speaking languages raises chances to have a good career and feel free while travelling.

To summarise, I would like to say that learning foreign languages is the investment in yourself, your career, self-esteem and in the future. It is not a waste of time and money.
