The Top 7 Horse Games You Can Play On Your PC In 2021

So many of us horse lovers just want a good horse game to play on our PC. Is that so hard to ask for?

I am sharing the best computer horse games I myself have played. After playing many horse games over the years they are good but not the best they could be.

So who makes it in the top 7 PC horse games of 2021?

The top 7 horse PC games of 2021 go to Star Stable, Sims 3 Pets, Horse Riding Tales, Riding Club Championship, My Riding Stable: A Life With Horses and Horse Isle 3 and Rival Stars Horse Racing.

First I wanted to mention I have not played Rival Stars Horse Racing. It made the list this year because so many people are loving the game. I have it last just because I have not played it not because it is the worst game. But I will share what I know and some videos I found.

Also!! Very excited! I found out they will be making a jumping update in the Rival Stars game. Looks like cross country jumping. Yay!

These are just a few of my many of my ideas of how a horse game could be really good.

Over the years I have played so many different horse games on my computer and most of them are laughable.

However, these games I have shared as far as what I have played are the best for what’s out there right now.

The order of these games are starting best to worst. I am giving a little bit of info on each of them, how much they cost, the game play and what I like and don’t like about each game.

1. Star Stable Online

Star Stable Online is my number one horse game at the moment. It’s not perfect there is a lot that could be done to make it better.

That being said, there are a good amount of features that I think make it rank number 1.

Star Stable is an MMO or a Massively Multiplayer Online game. This means that a large volume of players can compete, interact and cooperate in an ongoing virtual world.

The video below shows footage of gameplay around the different places in Jorvik. Which is where the fictional location this game is based.

Playing Star Stables Online

There are many objectives in the game. Such as leveling up your character as well as the horses you have.

Competing and racing while trying to beat leaderboard times and your own times. As well as competing in races live with other players.

Exploring the world of Jorvik is fun as the graphics are very decent and the music is fun as it changes when you go to different areas on the map.

There is roleplaying by the Star Stable players and you can join clubs that do that. There are many quests to be fulfilled so it keeps you always having something to do.

If you like matchy-matchy you will love this game. There is so much gear, equipment, and clothes in many styles and colors that you can buy in-game with Jorvik Shillings or Star Coins. You can matchy-matchy to your heart’s desire.

The other cool thing is that your horses progress in their abilities. The most noticeable is the horse’s turning ability and speed.

If you are a subscribed Star Rider as you progress in the game you unlock new areas on the map and as you level up new horses, activities, clothing and equipment become available for you to buy.

Another thing you work on in the game is improving your ranking of being like in the different areas on the island of Jorvik.

How Much Does Star Stable Online Cost?

You can play for free up to level 5 then you either have to buy the game with lifetime membership or pay a monthly membership fee, otherwise you will be stuck at level 5 and in one area on the map.

I think the price to play the game is fair. However, all the micro-transactions can be ridiculous and you can end up spending a lot of money if you are not paying attention.

For example, Star Coins cannot be earned you must pay for them out of pocket, even after subscribing to the game.

Star Coins are one of the main currency in the game and you can’t buy horses without them.

The Jorvik Coins you are able to earn in the game but it can only be used for equipment, feed, and other certain things.

Bonus: I like that there is always something you can do to keep the game play going.

5 Things I Don’t Like About Star Stables

Bonus: I don’t like that the game just has girl characters because boys play this game and they want to play a boy character. It seems a bit unfair.

Overall I would say Star Stable is a really fun game that will keep you entertained for a long time.

It is worth getting a subscription. But you will also want to buy gems to be able to buy a few horses. It is not as much fun only riding one horse all the time.

2. Sims 3 Pets

Sims 3 Pets is second on my list, because it has fun game play with horses and so much more. It is a combination of Sims 3 base game and Sims 3 Pets expansion pack.

You need the base game to Play Sims 3 Pets. This is a single-player simulation and sort of roleplaying game.

I love this game because you can live out your life in the game as you want to, look how you want and own, breed, train and compete horses.

You make up your own story for your sims and you can control all the aspects of their life.

Things you want to work on are keeping your household, happy, healthy, working toward their aspirations, fulfilling their wants and needs.

I love the fact you can create your own horse farm just how you like. This game is partially like an architecture computer program in some respects.

Now you can’t control the horse directly while riding which kind of stinks.

But you can tell them were to go by clicking on the ground and telling them to go there. I did find a mod online that allows you to have direct control over the Sims with arrows like any other horse game.

The horses have some personality and abilities different from each other but it is not super significant. The horses can die or be taken away if not taken care of well and they die of old age.

You can ride all around the open world of your neighborhood. You can also compete but you don’t do anything in the competition and don’t see anything except a leaderboard during the show which is dumb I think.

Keep in mind there are some adult things in this game. Although it is censored. Like going to the bathroom, showering, streaking, “woohooing” to get pregnant or not… So mature audience is best.

What Horse Breeds Are In Sims 3 Pets?

These are the breeds that are supposedly in the game.

However even though you can choose a “Breed” when creating your horse. The supposed breeds are basically there just to label horses with slightly different confirmation that we can change in the game anyway.

In the game if you want to play the horse it doesn’t even show what breed the horse is. Aside from when you go to buy or adopt a horse and then it is never mentioned again.

Horse breeds in the game are more of role playing left to the players imagination.

How Much Does Sims 3 Pets Cost?

You can buy the game on Steam or Origin.com. You have to buy the Sims 3 base game and then the Sims 3 Pets Expansion pack.

You could buy all of them if you want and spend a good chunk of money… like me. I was obsessed with Sims 3 for a while, still enjoy it after years.

Then there are also extra downloads you can buy and add to the game but why do that when you can get free downloads from creators around the internet. hehehe.

5 Things I Like About Sims 3 Pets

Bonus: I like that you can have a relationship with the horse and that they have somewhat of personalities.

5 Things I Don’t Like About Sims 3 Pets

Bonus: I don’t like that with Sims 3 being all real-life simulation that the horse portion is not more realistic, like having a farrier to put shoes on weekly, and pregnant mares with actual growing bellies, and bathing the horse, real grooming tools, blankets for cold weather, tying up the horse to groom and tack up. etc.

Overall the game is worth paying for. It is pretty fun and can keep you busy for a long time. Creating your own farm, living a fake life with horses, creating your sims, creating stories.

Custom content for the game you can download is so much fun. Just make sure it is from secure sights.

3. Horse Riding Tales

Horse Riding Tales is another MMO like Star Stable Online. It was very hard deciding to place this game above Riding Club Championship which is next.

I think the games have a very different feel and it is similar to how good RCC is. I put this game above only because it seems to have more features than RCC.

In the beginning you create your character and don’t start with a horse. You have to catch your first horse. However before you can catch your first horse you need horse taming orbs to do so.

You create these orbs by mining for different materials. There are iron, wood, cotton, stone, opal, amber that you will mine.

There are different level orbs and require different amounts and types of materials. The rarer the horse, the more orbs needed and the higher level the orbs that are needed in order to catch the horse.

You need to create a stable or stall for each horse you get or you are able to put the horse out in the paddock. If the horse is in the paddock too long they will jump out and escape so you do need to create a stall. You could also decide to sell the horse and get coins.

You have different levels based on the quests that you do and the horse competitions you score well on and complete. There are also daily quests that you need to do.

There are things in the game that come unlocked when you reach a certain level.

The horses are mostly classified by their color and how rare they are instead of breeds.

Common- White common, dun, skewbald, bay

Uncommon- Black beauty, piebald, majestic white

Rare- Dapple grey, appaloosa

Epic- Blue fantasy, unicorn, frye horse

Fantasy- Fire pegasus, pink pegasus, black pegasus, white pegasus, aqua horse, purple fantasy

Horse Riding Tales is available to play for free on Amazon, Steam, Google Play, and the Apple Store.

However Horse Riding Tales is very expensive with the in-game purchases. In the game you have gold coins and gems to buy things.

You can earn or find gems. But it takes forever!! I have 39 gems right now. I never spent money on this game.

The lifetime subscription not only allows you to explore other areas but also makes mining for materials faster by 60% and building stables faster by 50%.

5 Things I Don’t Like About Horse Riding Tales

Overall it is a fairly fun game but it is super repetitive and can get boring over time.

Maybe the other areas you can explore would make the game better but I don’t know since I don’t have the lifetime membership. So far I don’t think the lifetime membership is worth it, maybe I’m wrong.

4. Riding Club Championship

Riding Club Championship comes in at a close number 4 because the competition experience is pretty good better than Horse Riding Tales I think but it has fewer features in my opinion. This is another MMO game. The game is all about jumping competitions.

This game is fun and you get to compete against other people. Though there are other people playing this game you don’t see them unless you click to look at their profile.

There is not a whole lot of interaction between players that I have noticed.

You can be a male or female and choose your skin and hair color combo. You also get to customize your horse’s color. All the horse models look the same.

There are no breeds, just the generic horse in the game similar to Horse Riding Tales. The horses’ faces look a little weird but I have seen much worse horse graphics.

The woman rider looks decently normal, the male rider looks somewhat off and ogarish.

Overall I would say definitely play this game if you like show jumping horse games. You may get bored after a while but it will be fun at first and doesn’t cost you any money if you don’t want to pay for anything.

5. My Riding Stables: A Life With Horses

The reason My Riding Stables: A Life With Horses is at Number 5 is not because its a terrible game but because it is a big investment of time and takes a lot of work.

It actually is pretty cool if you get into it and is somewhat realistic. This is a single player game.

Playing My Riding Stables: A Life With Horses

I have not gone too far in this game yet but I see a lot of potential. You inherit a horse guest farm that is dilapidated and falling apart. You get your first horse which you must take care of.

Part of the game is repairing the farm so guests can come and stay at the farm. You also take in boarders horses for massages and are able to rent out your horses. Essentially you are running your own horse business.

You can also breed the horses, then train the foals and eventually sell them.

The game can be a bit tedious and take quite a bit of time, but if you need something to pass the time and are willing to invest it can be fun.

When you get money from selling foals, massaging boarders horses and renting out horses you can use the money to fix up the farm, take care of your horses, and buy horses, clothing, and equipment.

Overall if you want a more realistic horse game as pertaining to horse care and making money with horses, are patient, willing to figure things out and have a lot of available time.

The game is very reasonably priced unlike some of these other more expensive games.

6. Horse Isle 3

Horse Isle 3 is placed in the number 6 spot because it has great ideas but the gameplay and graphics are rough. Horse Isle 3 is an MMO game.

It takes a while to get started and figure things out.

I have to be honest I don’t have a lot of experience with this game, so far it has been taking a while to get started and figure things out. But I could see the potential in this game after I get through the slow beginning.

When I first started playing I was so confused, wearing shorts and a shirt and had no shoes on.

At least now I figured out how to collect essence, go into shops, create tools, catch wild horses, ride them, and look at horse profiles.

I also learned that you fall off a lot if you don’t have tack on the horse your riding.

Essence is one of the currencies in Horse Isle 3 along with coins. I did get coins when I found a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

Overall I think the game is worth giving a try. I would not invest money into it just yet but I am going to keep playing and see how things go. Just use a helpful online guide to make your life easier.

7. Rival Stars Horse Racing

Like I mentioned at the beginning of this post, Rival Stars Horse Racing is only in the number 7 spot because I do not have experience playing it.

But this is the next horse game I will be getting and trying out. This game is on the list because of all the positive reviews I have been find around the web.

What New Horse Games Are Coming Out in 2022?

You played all the horse games you know of, over and over again.

You want something new. New adventures, new challenges, new experiences, a new horse game to play and have fun with.

I have been feeling that way too.

That is until I found out about all the awesome new horse games coming out!

I am going to introduce you to 7 NEW horse games you will be able to play on your pc this year (2022)!

A few of these horse games are looking very promising, and the others seem pretty good and at least decent enough.

Not all the games are available right now. However, they are supposedly going to be available to play this year. A few of the games that are available to play are in beta testing and have demos available.

One of the games is not technically a PC game right now… it’s mobile, but they plan to make it available on the PC and I thought it is worthy to be on this list.

Another game is not new this year… BUT they are continuing to update the game and added some new gameplay features.

New Horse Riding Games You Can Play Now

You can play three of the seven horse games right now if you want and technically four if you live in the right country.

The games available right now are Tales of Rein Ravine, That Horse Game and Rival Stars Horse Racing.

1. Tales of Rein Ravine

Tales of Rein Ravine previously known as horsegame.exe is one of two games I believe to have much promise to become a super awesome horse game!

At the moment it is only available as a demo for Patreon supporters, but will be available for free to others in a few weeks. But oh man!

The nuts and bolts mechanics of this game are so cool. The game developer’s goal is to create a realistic horse game and so far they are doing a great job!

The riding, jumping… the way the horse and rider move are fantastic. Very realistic for a horse game.

What’s Included in Tales Of Rein Ravine Demo:

This demo is only a sneak peak as to what is to come in the actual game.

My Experience Playing Tales Of Rein Ravine

I was most excited when I found out about game controls. I almost felt like I was riding on an actual horse… okay maybe not, but still pretty cool!

I have not experienced any other horse game like that. Combining separate controls for reins and legs while also using them in a realistic way. You can even ask your horse for a flying change using a new outside leg and inside rein at the canter. I mean yay!

I was also happily surprised with how the game ran on my computer, very smooth with the graphics set at the highest level.

The horses are adorable too! I love how the horses have names, limitations to jumping ability, sensitivity and just different personalities. The more sensitive horse rushes to the jumps, while the calm horse stays steady throughout.

I can’t wait to ride in the outdoor arena and go cross country when the finished game comes out.

I am also hoping the developer continues to make more riding lessons. So it feels like I am really a student taking lessons in the game.

But regardless the developer is doing a great job and very talented.

That Horse Game

That Horse Game is another equestrian indie game being developed. It is still in the early stages of development however, currently has a free demo available.

Once released the game will be available for a one time fee.

The developers are working on make this a multiplayer game.

I am also elated at this masterpiece of a horse game in the making. At this point I am liking Tales of Rein Ravine a little bit more than That Horse Game.

However there are some parts I like about this game more than Tales of Rein Ravine, which I will talk about when I go over my experience with the game.

But let’s first go over what the demo includes at the moment.

There is a lot more that is going to be added to the game and the demo is on it’s 4th release as I write this. So they continue to update the demo.

My Experience Playing That Horse Game

I played That Horse Game demo soon after it became available.

I started off in the farm house and got to customize my character. The character is very realistic looking and there are so many customizable option.

It reminded me of a game I play called Ark as well as the Sims 3 game, which I love to play.

As my character walked around I noticed that things would light up that I was able to interact with. Such as light switches and doors.

The sky was dark and clouds loomed over the landscape. Suddenly lightening flashed across the sky and it started to pour buckets.

That is something I have not experienced in a horse game. 20 joyful equestrian points for that!

The barn is beautiful and so realistic. However I was disappointed that all the horses look and act the same besides the different colors they come in.

But I will give them a break because the game is still being developed.

I rode the horses in the different areas.

What I found interesting is that riding in the outdoor and indoor near the barn and house was a bit laggy and teensy bit blurred sometimes. It was slightly annoying.

But when you ride out cross country and in the outdoor show jump ring, the riding is much smoother.

I think it may be because there is more heavy rendering in the house/barn area.

Another thing that I don’t like so much is how fast the camera rotates with the mouse.

That needs to slow down to make it more user friendly. It kind of makes me dizzy when I move it around too much.

That is something I hope is added to Tales Of Rein Ravine!

So overall it seems like a realistic game with much potential and at the moment could make a good role playing game for those who enjoy that.

The updates are regular and you can expect to see this game to continue to get better and better.

3. Rival Stars Horse Racing

Rival Stars Horse Racing was just a mobile horse racing game originally but turned into a mobile and desktop game.

This is not a new game, but there has been a new update for desktop where you can jump the horses cross country.

The jumping portion of the game is a work in progress and the game developers are continuing to do updates to the game.

However, it seems that the mobile is much farther ahead with game play updates as oppose to the desktop version.

I have a little experience playing this game on my mobile phone but not on desktop.

I have also not played with the jumping update. So I don’t have any experience to share with that part of the game.

However with what I played on my phone, my favorite part was the breeding and seeing what color and stats I got with the foals.

New Horse Games Coming Out Soon

I mentioned before one of these game is available to some countries but not everywhere.

That would be Equestrian The Game. I am living in the United States so I am one of the ones who has to wait to play this game.

The other three games will be available to play sometime this year. These three other games are Astride, Horse Shelter 2022 and The Ranch of Rivershine.

4. Equestrian The Game

Equestrian The Game is currently in a soft launch, making it available to a couple countries at a time.

This was the first game I began to follow when it started being developed out of all the games on this list.

At the moment it is a mobile only game. However the developers said they would like to make it into a PC game. And one could hope it will be available sometime in 2022.

Our ultimate goal is to make Equestrian not only for mobile, but available on multiple platforms including PC and consoles.

What I Think About Equestrian The Game

I really wish this game was a PC first game, because I much prefer playing on a PC over mobile.

The screen is bigger and the controls can be a little more complex… in a good way.

I am so excited to play this game still, even if it is on mobile in the beginning.

The way the game developers are trying to make it more realistic with the horses, riding and managing the horses is really something I am looking forward to.

One of the things they’ve done that I think is really cool is how the horses develop in the game with their training. They improve not only in their overall performance but the actual visible way they move.

I just thought that was so unique and realistic for a horse game.

Hopefully my expectations are not to high for the actual game play, but I will find out soon.

Also one more note is that I may consider playing this game using an android emulator, I believe they are called.

I have never used one before but the software converts apps to be able to be played on a PC.

5. Astride

Astride is another exciting horse game in the making.

A horse game based in a Norwegian type setting being created by Norwegian developers.

I only recently learned about the new horse game a month or two ago and was blown away by some of the animations.

This will be an open world game and it’s is going to be multiplayer but not a MMO game such as Star Stables.

Patreon supporters will be able to play test the game before it is released. When released it will be available through Steam.

This game looks to be another realistic type of horse game for teens and young adults. Yay!

Yup this is the game. This might be the game we have all been dreaming about.

This game was down on my list as the 3rd or 4th game.

But after reading on Astride’s planned features on their Discord channel, it may just become my number 1!

These features are not set in stone because things may change around a bit. But it is currently what they are striving for.

Horse Shelter 2022 was previously Horse Shelter 2021 but then they realized they needed more time in development.

This game is available to add to your wish list on Steam.

I saw this game back in 2021 and wasn’t all that impressed. However they seem to continue to add and update the game.

It also seems in the steam community that they are interested in listening to gamers thoughts on how to make the game better.

What Is Planned For Horse Shelter 2022

My Thoughts On Horse Shelter 2022

I am going to be honest.

This game looks like it may have been made by people that don’t have a ton of horse experience. I could be wrong.

The anatomy of the horses in this game are just not up to par compared to the other games coming out. The rider looks too big for the horse.

And in the game’s trailer what is the horse wearing in the stall? A strange bridle almost baroque like and a surcingle… huh?

I am not sure why it is called Horse Shelter 2022, because it made me think this game was about rescuing and rehabilitating horses.

And I am pretty sure in one of the videos the horse was being jumped in a western saddle. Although the first video the horse was wearing english tack.

This game seems to be about show jumping, but the atmosphere seems western.

I will say the scenes and landscape look beautiful. I was getting a sort of Red Dead Redemption vibe going on.

And as time goes on the game development does seem to be getting better and a little more realistic.

This is not my first choice when it comes to the new horse games, but I can see some potential for it being fun.

It really is an amazing game! The Demo is so well made ♥♥♥ Thank you so much! I can not believe it, We gained so many just today :’) ♥

A little bit of info:
1. You can climb the ladder(you just have to be in the right position)
2. First person is now a thing in the demo (update the game and then press f3)
3. Horses can jump from a trot
4. Horses can jump from the gallop and extension ♡

@Jess equestrain It is fine. I think the Ladder is one of the new interactions they added. When the demo first came out it was not possible. I actually did not know they added that the last update so nice to check that out ♥

Thanks for the info. I did take a look at the first person in my other video and I did realize in that video that you could jump from a trot XD ♥and the gallop etc ♥
I did not know about the ladder tho. I might have to take a look at that again ♥

@AhsokaOnEarth Yeah they are probably gonna work on another way to play the demo aswell. For now it is just this. Just ignore the payment things ❤❤
I mean I would love to take a look at it tho. It looks nice the 2022 version. If it is not to expensive I might get it ❤❤

I actually used to play farming simulator a lot. I never understood how to grow crops but I loved owning a lot of animals and earn my money from them ❤⭐ I am not sure if steam labs would like to record that game tho since it is a big open game with the nice graphics ❤⭐

I tried it again in the game after that it did not work for me. Maybe I have to be completely behind the horse but I did not see it working 🤔❤

Как эту игру скачать? Мне пишет что фильтр SmartScreen в Microsoft предотвратила запуск неопознанного приложения,которое может подвергнуть компьютер риску. Что делать? Помогите пж

Сборка 0.0.4 — самая старая версия игры, игра, которую они фактически будут обновлять, находится на их патреоне.

Сразу видно за компом жокей))) Надо вывести лошадь! Не хочу выезжать с конюшни верхом!))) Красава)) Правильно)))

Графика не плохая, но над игрой ещё работать и работать. Персонаж, его посадка, сама лошадь, её грива и хвост. Это так не пропорционально. Все силы разработчики кинули на графику,а не на сюжет и биологию, которая важна при строении человека и лошадей. Но для игры, еоторая вышла недавно, это неплохо. Надеюсь, они буду активно её развивать и чтобы через год она была очень проработара и перевена на многие языки. Мб как раз там я её и скачаю. С пока что она не обходит стар стейбл. Эта игра далеко от сс. Но насало уже крутое! Буду очень ждать многих доработок и изменений.

Здравствуй, пишу поздно но по теме 😅 У меня возникла такая проблема при скачивании данной игры: Захожу в файлы игры как только ее скачала, нажимаю ( nAq8WuCEUVs&t=0m51s 0:51 ) на ту кнопку, и пишет мне ноут такое: Неизвестный файл может занести вирус (ну или чтото такое). Так вот, я начала не много бояться этого. Как решить проблему? Можно ли продолжать скачивания не смотря на такую запись от устройства?

Изабелловая, а не белая) белые имеют в 95% случаев темные глаза и пятна рядом с ними, либо по телу

Наконец то русское комьюнити узнаёт больше про эту игру!!
На саму игру наткнулась ещё до её выхода, а когда выпустили сразу побежала скачивать. Мне она понравилась несмотря на некоторые не доработки( звук на локации конюшни иногда пропадает), опять же, это всё поправимо, игра совершенствуется и меня это не мало радует.
Очень люблю локацию лес, звуки там отлично настроены, да и под дождик попрыгать через барьеры самое то (от первого лица-кайф).
Отдать должное нужно графике, на макс. Настройках чем то схож с рдр ( что очень неплохо для игры про лошадок).
С функционалом я разбиралась неделю, но для меня было шоком что я могу вести лошадь за повод, чистить её, делать принимание на трёх аллюрах и ещё много мелочей. А ещё лошадь реагирует на брусья которые лежат на плацу возле конюшни.
А как я училась прыгать, это отдельная история. Считать темпы галопа (прибавленного, укрощенного) никогда такое не забуду. 😂
Выездкой в основном занималась в манеже, там очень круто. Особенно когда в игре гроза и приходиться прятаться под крышей))
