We often see people say, “I don’t have all the answers.” To which we think, “Oh! You’re the one!” None of us have all the answers. Once we let our pride exit stage right, and we come to peace with this obvious truth, the more relaxing and satisfying life can be.

No matter what you’re looking to embark on next in life, no matter how well you’ve planned, you won’t control the outcome. This is not to say that you shouldn’t plan! Far from it. Simply to say, what you think might be your destiny, may not be. I’ve found myself playing a guessing game at different periods in my life, as my mind’s eye has guessed at what might happen next.

I’m here to tell you — the most exciting part of the journey is trusting. Truly, it’s faith.

As we grow and continue to experience more of life’s fun, drama, frustration, love and hate, it’s easy to become more cynical and less surprised. We tend to think we can predict the outcomes. That we already know what’s coming. If we have a very high self-awareness, we may occasionally know the answers. We may think we are choreographing our lives. But so much of fate if out of our hands.

Life is richer and more enjoyable when we live by faith and let the outcomes take care of themselves. I think about the foolish cynicism I used to harbor toward new opportunities when I was younger. I’ve become much more open-minded and filled with faith. The result has been, life has opened up for me in profound ways I only previously dreamed of.

A Story to Tell

I just pulled out of town yesterday, and drove east to pursue the life of my dreams in Charleston, South Carolina. 20 months ago, I arrived in Atlanta, Georgia a conflicted man. I accepted a job with a prestigious management consulting firm because I thought I needed to take it, not because I really wanted it. I thought I had the answers.

The truth is, I didn’t. Things didn’t work out. But I decided to reinvent myself and re-evaluate what I was doing. I knew I didn’t have the answers but I started to bet on myself and my natural talents. I took a huge leap of faith and decided to give more control to God. I began to see results. I started writing for Medium. I took the courageous step to finally let the world see my writing.

I’ve become one of the top writers on this site. I’ve had articles appear on CNBC, The Huffington Post, and I’ve done radio interviews on Sirius XM and several commercial stations. I’m confident I did the right thing. I kept moving forward toward my dreams. Previously, at least to the outside world, I was living a very successful, professional lifestyle.

I was really on the road to crashing and burning. I wasn’t doing what I wanted. I didn’t have all the answers.

The Answers We Don’t Have

Now, as I move forward in my writing career and entrepreneurial ventures, I do so with greater faith and confidence. I don’t need to know all the answers. And I’ve realized that is the best part of life. If we knew everything, if we had insight into the predestined knowledge of the universe, would we really be better off? I think we’d simply be programmed robots. That would suck.

Where do you find yourself? In the midst of a transition? Looking to make a change? What if I told you that you’d be much better off if you kept an open mind, stopped worrying about the results and lived each moment to the maximum? Stop worrying about knowing the answers. None of us have it all figured out.

Please know, above everything else, it is extraordinarily empowering and liberating when you acknowledge this truth.

My transition from business consultant to becoming a writer — and living this life — has been a reward of great abundance. It’s taught me so much about what I value, what I love and want for my life. It’s shown me a new way to manage time, become more productive and build powerful relationships that have changed my life. This has been a transformational year of growth.

I hope you’re excited and invigorated by the anticipation of all that life will throw at you. I think you’re ready. I feel like I am. The journey through life is so much easier when we approach it with optimism and confidence. A mind conditioned to think we know all the answers, will lead to a life of disappointment. And some serious mental fatigue.

You will recognize and seize upon opportunity, when you remain open to it. You’re not going to have all the answers. Hopefully, you give up the notion that you do or will find all the answers. Lean in, live free and find meaning in all you do. You’ll find the best part of living — living with faith and openness to all the surprises and new things that lie ahead.

That’s the Neat Part, You Don’t, also known as So When Do I Start Having Fun? and That’s the Neat Thing, refers to a two-panel meme format from the 2021 animated series Invincible in which the character Omni-Man presents an unfortunate detail about a certain something as a «neat part» to a fact or truth. Originating from a viral Reddit post, the format gained popularity online in late June 2021 as an exploitable image macro and object-labeling meme.

Origin

On March 26th, 2021, episode two, titled «Here Goes Nothing,» of the superhero animated series Invincible premiered on Amazon Prime. [1] In the episode, protagonist Mark Grayson (Invincible) asks his father Nolan Grayson (Omni-Man) how to breathe in space, to which Omni-Man responds that one doesn’t.

— How do I … breathe in space?
— That’s the neat thing: you don’t.

On June 24th, 2021, Redditor Genericgumibear posted a two-panel meme based on the scene, labeling the characters «millennials with student debt» and «banks» and replacing the first line of the dialogue with «How do I buy a house?» The post received over 96,000 upvotes in the /r/memes [2] subreddit in two days (seen below).

Spread

Starting on the same day, users on Reddit posted memes based on the format in various subreddits. For example, on June 24th Redditor [3] Solid_Snark posted a prequel meme that received over 3,700 upvotes in four days (shown below, left). On June 25th, Redditor anutag posted a version of the meme that received over 28,300 upvotes in /r/memes [4] four days (shown below, right), also sharing a template [5] for the format.

On June 25th, 2021, Twitter [6] user AerosoulGFX asked, «What game is this?,» tweeting a version in which «new players» were asking «veterans» when they will start having fun. The tweet (shown below) received over 134,000 likes and 23,000 retweets in four days.

The post spawned a subformat in which Mark Grayson and Omni-Man are labeled or replaced with characters from various video games (examples shown below).

In late June 2021, the format gained a notable presence on social media, including Reddit, Facebook and Twitter.
