Kanae Toyomi was about to close up the convenience store when a clearly inebriated man in disheveled clothing banged on the door.
«Sorry, we’re closed!» he said.
«Come on, I just want to buy one thing! I’m begging ya!» the man groaned from the other side.
If it weren’t for the fact that Kanae had to go around front to grab his bike, he could have just ignored him. The last thing he wanted was to encounter an irate man outside after refusing to give him service.
«Okay, fine…» Kanae sighed, unlocking the front doors.
«Oh, thank you!» He stumbled his way to the back to grab a pack of beer.
Kanae waited impatiently for him to stagger his way to the front. Instead of bringing a wallet out to pay for his stuff, he stared hard across the counter.
«Hehe… Ain’t you kinda cute? It’s dangerous for a girl like you to be working this late, isn’t it?» the drunkard asked.
«I’m… I’m not a girl,» Kanae glanced off to the side.
«O-Oh, you’re not? You… never mind. Here, keep the change.» He tossed a couple of crumpled bills and hightailed it out of the convenience store.
Kanae went to lock the doors a second time and stared at his reflection from the glass. His shoulder-length, black hair, round eyes, and soft features really did make him effeminate. He sometimes wondered if being born a girl would have been easier.
It had all given him a complex that he hid from friends and family, too.
Well, not that they mattered. After moving to a new prefecture and city, he had become an afterthought to them. At least it made pursuing his hobby safer.
Biking through the suburbs to get home, Kanae breathed deeply of the warm summer air. He had to hurry, otherwise his pay might get docked again.
As soon as he entered his sparse apartment a loud and rhythmic banging from the room above drew his attention to the ceiling. The neighbors were at it again.
«It’s midnight, go to sleep already…» Kanae muttered, blushing up to his ears.
The place was nice and tidy just as he left it, though he didn’t own much to clean to begin with. He threw open the closet and was welcomed by the sight of women’s dresses and costumes. This was what he had been waiting all day for, what leftover cash from his full time job after paying rent and bills went into.
Kanae picked out a high school girl’s uniform and stuffed it into his backpack, then went right out again. He rode to a nearby park that was deserted at this time of the night. A loud snore sent a jolt up his spine. It sounded like someone had passed out inside the men’s restroom. Drunks were everywhere this time of the night.
After glancing around to make sure the coast was clear, he darted into the women’s side and changed into the girl’s school uniform. He paraded himself in front of the mirror and marveled at how cute he looked. No one could mistake him for being a boy. With a mask on, even less of a chance to be discovered.
Without wasting any more time, Kanae rode back into the city— but to a much shadier location. The redlight district was buzzing this late. Women were being solicited left and right by men of all ages. He went directly to an adult video and merchandise store, which had women beckoning to potential customers to come inside.
«Hi, Kanae! Back again for another shift?» A young woman in a red dress and caked in make-up waved to him.
Kanae didn’t say a thing. He simply bowed to her and the others before heading in.
«Isn’t it rude that she didn’t greet you back?» a new girl asked.
«Oh, not at all! Kanae’s one of those… you know, a mute. She’s really the cutest thing though, I’d gobble her up if she was a boy,» the woman replied with a giggle.
The manager sat up the moment Kanae entered. There was a surprising amount of people browsing the store. New stock must have come in.
«Ahh! Kanae, thank goodness you’re here. Same place as always please.» The store manager pulled him aside and handed over a stack of yen, then whipped around to a customer fiddling with something in the corner. «HEY! NO JERKING OFF IN THE STORE!»
Kanae bowed twice even after the manager left to deal with the situation, put on the lanyard and employee tag given to him, and made his way to the hentai section of the store. A few people were already in the aisle, pretending to peruse the massive collection of DVDs. One of them, a regular customer, hollered to him for help.
«K-Kanae, what a surprise, right? I feel like I haven’t seen you in weeks. C-Could you help me find something similar to this?» he asked, showing him a hentai that featured molestation on a train.
This was one of the several reasons why Kanae worked here. He got to dress up like a girl and was paid a lot under the table. No one had to know.
The last reason…
As Kanae was looking for similar DVDs for the man, he felt a hand rubbing his back that sent shivers through his body.
«You look really cute today…» the touchy man said, his hot breath tickling the back of Kanae’s neck.
It thrilled him to be lusted after.
Kanae managed to convince the entire store that he was a girl and mute. They asked little questions out of respect. The reason it paid so much was precisely because men were allowed to feel up the female employees here. To an extent at least.
The hand groping him traveled down to his butt, where it gently squeezed a cheek. Other customers in the aisle made it exceedingly obvious they wanted to do the same. He had become somewhat of a celebrity here due to the mute act. To them, he was a quiet beauty to be toyed with.
Sometimes things did get a little too far. The same hand began to move towards his crotch.
«Excuse me, Kanae!» the manager shouted from the counter, spooking the man to stop and move to a different aisle.
Kanae let out a relieved breath. He went over to the manager, who had a strange woman standing next to him.
«This lady here apparently wants a word with you. She seems to be looking for something specific, but is having a hard time describing it. Do your best to help her, okay?» he said.
The woman held up a DVD about otokonokos. Kanae froze up and gasped.
«I would like to find more of this,» she said.
Kanae swallowed his hesitation and guided her to a section of the store that was particularly empty. However, instead of browsing she pulled out what looked like a business card instead.
«If your life is ever in great danger, keep this on you and it may save your life. Say for example, a big semi-truck is about to hit you… or something,» she said.
Written in bold on the top was ‘ Looking for Heroes! ‘
When Kanae looked up, the woman was gone. She was just here a moment ago, but vanished the next.
Weird, he thought.
A few hours later, Kanae had finished his short shift and earned three times more in one night than what he earned a week at the convenience store. With all this cash, he could buy new costumes. He rode home on that high, but stopped at the same park’s restroom to change again.
However, as he approached the women’s restroom, someone stumbled out of the men’s and locked eyes with him.
«Hm? Ain’t you the guy from the convenience store? You are, aren’t you! So you really were a girl, you lying minx.» The drunk man from earlier pounced on Kanae, pinning him against the wall.
«Wait! Stop! I’m really not a girl!» he cried.
«As if I can believe that… Hehe… You even changed and came to find me. That interested in some action?»
A thick hand traveled down from his abdomen towards his crotch. The touch set his skin on fire. It felt so good to be touched like that, lusted after. Kanae was even getting an erection from it.
Maybe this was what he wanted all along. Maybe it was finally time to take this to the next step…
«I’m… I’m on my period, so… please, don’t touch down there…» Kanae pleaded.
The man snorted. «You’re a real kinky one, ain’t ya? Good thing there are other ways to have fun.»
A sound of a zipper pulling down reached Kanae’s ears. Something hard pressed against the space between his buttcheeks. It was the man’s penis, fully erect and rubbing on him.
Kanae pushed back, dry humping it and enjoying the hot sensation.
Suddenly, the sensation left him. He glanced over his shoulder to see the drunk taking a step back and waving the thick penis. The bulbous tip which glistened with precum somehow made his mouth water.
«Get on your knees and use your mouth for me,» the man demanded.
Being commanded turned Kanae on more than he expected. Compelled to obey by both word and temptation, he got down with his mouth open, lips less than an inch away…
The card from earlier slipped out and fell to the ground. Kanae instinctively picked it up, only for the written words to glow to a blinding pitch. The drunk panicked, quickly stuffed his dick away, and made a run for it.
Kanae, however, was swallowed up by a portal beneath his feet.
He landed on his ass in a brightly-lit, gold and ivory room, slightly disoriented. A woman in a sheer white gown sat across the office desk, her porcelain skin and golden hair were glistening under the light. Two pointed ears suggested she was an elf.
«You’re…? That’s not important! Where the hell am I?» Kanae asked, glancing around the room in confusion.
He remembered being at a park, then the light cockblocked him….
«Well… I suppose the Supreme One works in mysterious ways. It seems your card activated and sent you here. I’ll be quick: I’m offering you a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to another world. What do you say? You were a nothing in your world, now you have a chance to be someone incredible in the next!» she explained like a snake oil salesman.
«What’s the catch…?» He raised a brow. «And hold on— isn’t it kind of harsh to call me a nothing?»
«I am Arenade, a demigoddess tasked to find heroes willing to defeat the demon lord in our place. What I can give you is a new appearance, a powerful weapon, and ten free levels right at the start! Now tell me everything you want in detail, and I’ll put this into your character sheet,» Arenade said.
«This feels like a cheap mobile game’s freebies. First of all, I wasn’t that unhappy in my world to want to go to a new one anyway!» He frowned.
«Y-You weren’t? Oh. This is kind of a one-way ticket, so… awkward. You’re here anyway, so how about it? I need to sort this out to answer a crowning later.» She tapped her wrist impatiently even though there was no watch.
«Okay, I’ve had enough. I’m just going to—»
As Kanae got to his feet, a black portal opened up behind Arenade. A small gust sent her papers flying all over the place.
«Ahahaha! I had a feeling the Supreme One started sending his lackeys to hire prospective heroes. Not if I have a say about this, my dear sister!» a haughty voice declared.
A tall man dressed in heavy black robes and feathery mantle, his skin as black as night, and horns protruding from his head, stepped out of the portal.
«Charron! How in the three hells did you even get here! This place is off-limits to demons!» Arenade growled.
«As if I care for your silly corporate-style policies. Restraining orders are such primitive human things.» He waved a dismissive hand.
«W-Who’s that?» Kanae asked, crawling backwards on the floor.
«The current demon lord…» She sighed.
«The demon lord is your brother?!»
» Ahem. I am the older brother,» the demon corrected him.
The two of them bickered back and forth until Arenade had enough and summoned a golden trident to brandish at him.
«Oh, please. I’m not here to fight,» Charron said.
«Then what are you here for?» his sister asked, keeping the weapon trained on him.
«To sabotage your plans of sending a hero against me, of course!» The demon lord pointed at Kanae and smiled. He snapped his fingers, causing obsidian chains to immobilize Arenade, then seized the opportunity to write into the papers on her desk himself. «Let’s see… Ah. Let’s start you off at level 1. You’ll have no skills, no weapons, and no starting wealth because that’s cheating. Your race? I know just the thing.»
Charron used Arenade’s own hand to sign off the papers, causing them to combust with golden fire.
«Oh… Oh, no…» Arenade uttered.
«What happened? Hold on— I never wanted to do this hero business from the start!» Kanae yelled as another portal opened up at his feet.
The demon lord’s bellowing laughter was the last thing Kanae heard as another portal swallowed them all in darkness.
Kanae awakened in a dark and damp cavern, his face pressed to the cold ground. The only light around was from dim glowing moss and crystals clinging to the ceiling. Strange noises from unknown creatures darted from stalactite to stalactite. This was definitely not the Japan he knew.
As he got to his feet, something about his body felt heavier. That was when he realized— he couldn’t see his feet. Two mounds of fat were blocking his view. Upon grabbing them, he winced as a strange pleasure crept up his spine.
«B-Boobs? Oh, no… That whole meeting actually happened…» Kanae recalled what the demon lord was muttering about when filling in his character sheet.
A pink, heart-shaped tattoo formed on his wrist, like it was etched into his skin. Brushing a hand over it made the ink light up and a game interface pop up.
The hero became a succubus and the only way to level is to what

After defeating Lady Dahlia, the remaining demon forces scattered and escaped to fight another day. Defeat wasn’t exactly the right word, since Kanae and his party had every right to lose that battle. However, thinking outside of the box saved them a whole lot of pain. Throwing her into her own portal would buy them plenty of time until the next invasion if they still intend to invade.
«Will Orturic be alright? There’s a good chance Lady and her forces will be back,» Kanae warned Duke Kroenig as they, his party Arenade and Edina included, feasted together in the dining hall of his manor to celebrate.
«We’ll have more time to prepare and solicit help from Radevic. The next time the demons come, they will be met with a greater army and defenses that won’t pull their punches!» Duke Kroenig guffawed happily from his seat at the head of the table.
And hopefully the adventurer’s hall wouldn’t drink themselves into a stupor before battle.
To his left, Kanae noticed Edina inconspicuously slipping silverware into her satchel between her thighs. He snatched her wrist as she was about to put in a butter knife next.
«What are you doing…»
«N-Nothing.» Edina let the satchel to the floor only for it to clatter with the sound of many utensils.
Hey, duke! You have any more of this? Maybe drop us another bottle to-go?» Arenade waved the now empty bottle of wine she had been drinking all dinner.
«Of course! Anything you want, as long as it is within my power to do so, please do not hesitate to ask. I cannot thank you enough for saving Orturic. It is a precious place and important in raising blossoming adventurers such as yourselves.» Duke Kroenig smiled, gesturing for Thedia to fetch another bottle.
The ‘anything you want’ part sobered Arenade up in an instant. She didn’t even react when Thedia returned with a full bottle to gift her. Kanae thought she was going to ask for something outrageous, but a very different request erupted from her lips instead.
«You have maybe 30 kids without homes and parents in Orturic, living on the streets with rats and insects, digging for scraps to eat, and huddling up together every winter to stay warm. Whatever I want? If the city is so precious, I want you to give them a damn place to live!» Arenade stood up from her seat, planting both hands on the table.
Her selfless request seemed to take Duke Kroenig by surprise, who was likely expecting her to ask for something that would be to her sole benefit. Unfortunately, by the look on his face, it wasn’t a favor he would easily accomplish.
«My lady… Your request is a most humble one, but it is also a very tall order,» Duke Kroenig said.
«Says the guy living a lavish life! What’s wrong with you people? Don’t you care about their future? If you were in their place, you would want someone to look after you, too!» Arenade cried in an attempt to appeal to their hearts.
Although her words didn’t fall on deaf ears, the duke and Elvira traded uneasy glances.
Elvira continued in his place. «There are countless lives that the duke is responsible for in his dukedom. It isn’t as though he hasn’t tried, but there is only so much one noble can do. If he were to provide aid to every struggling child, the coffers would run dry, and he wouldn’t be able to help anyone.»
«Tch… It doesn’t matter what era it is. That’s how it will always be, huh…» Arenade cursed and excused herself from the table. She stomped back to grab the new bottle of wine, then stormed out of the dining hall.
«I-I’m sorry about her,» Kanae apologized on Arenade’s behalf. «Ever since we came to Orturic, she’s been spending gold out of her own pocket to help those orphans.»
«It’s alright. Her outrage at me is not unwarranted. If more people were like her, then every abandoned child in this world would have a warm bed to sleep in. However, history has shown that noble sacrifices and charity do not work,» Duke Kroenig explained.
«History? What do you mean?»
Edina stuffed her mouth full of food and exclaimed. «Oh, I know the story! Thousands of years ago, some high born elven duchess spent her entire family fortune trying to end poverty. Didn’t work. People stayed poor, she lost everything, and her fellow nobility kicked her out of their group or something. If I was alive at the time, she should’ve given it all to me so I could gamble it away. Goes to show nothing good comes from being charitable.»
Everyone gave her the stink eye.
«What? It’s true!» she insisted.
«Who was this elven duchess?» Kanae asked.
«Duchess Arenade Ehmvier, a beautiful high elven woman with a heart of gold,» Duke Kroenig answered.
Arenade? It couldn’t be their Arenade, right? After all, Brightwind and Ehmvier were two very different last names, and the one in his party was a demigoddess.
«I see the confusion on your face,» the duke continued. «Arenade is a fairly common name amongst low born elves. I believe it is their way of honoring the one noblewoman who tried to help them.»
Later that night, Kanae returned to the bedchamber from the baths to find Edina knocked out in the large bed, and Arenade was outside on the balcony. He joined her by the railing and saw that she wasn’t really looking anywhere in particular, just absentmindedly staring off into space and lost in her own thoughts.
«Is it that time of the night again to feed your lust?» Arenade asked and turned to face him.
«I thought about it, but I figured your heart wouldn’t be in it after today,» Kanae said.
«Sorry… about earlier. I didn’t mean to blow up on the duke and ruin the feast like that.» She sighed out her nose.
Arenade must have been here all night since Kanae hadn’t seen her since she stormed out of dinner. Not being able to help those kids in any meaningful way seemed to really hurt her. Especially if she was so passionate about it. Neither she nor the duke were wrong. Just like back home, a lot of children were unlucky. Too many for the government to help.
However, it didn’t have to be that way here. Duke Kroenig said ‘if more people were like her’, then change needed to start with Kanae, too.
«If you want, we can spend a few more weeks here and help those kids get settled before leaving. Pre-pay a few rooms, work something out with Dreizel, or even cut some profits from the store for them,» Kanae suggested to her surprise.
«Do… Do you mean it?» Arenade stammered in disbelief, gazing into his eyes as tears welled up at the corners of her own.
«Yeah! We’re making good money. When we go to Lograin next, we can open a store there, too. Start helping who we can and— mmph?»
Kanae jerked from Arenade, taken aback by her initiating a kiss for the very first time. They stayed like that under the moon and starlight for a while, lips connected, and chests pressed together. She finally pulled away and turned her back to him.
«D-Don’t take that as anything more than what it was, alright? I still don’t like it, and this is all purely under the deal we made to form a party!» Arenade cleared her throat and was about to head inside until Kanae grabbed her hand.
«If we go in now, we might wake up Edina,» Kanae said, gulping hard and desperate for more than just a taste.
Kanae and his party were preparing to leave tomorrow morning for Orturic in a carriage. Duke Kroenig, Elvira, and Thedia came to see them off at the courtyard.
«Next time you invite me to the manor, send a letter instead of pretending to arrest me. Thank you for your hospitality though. We really appreciate it,» Kanae said.
«Oh, please. It is the least I can do for the saviors of Orturic. But before you go, I have a favor to ask of you.» Duke Kroenig stood aside for Thedia to step forward.
«I understand your party will be heading to Lograin. May I accompany you?» Thedia asked, still dressed in her black and white, frilly uniform.
«Hey, hey, hey! Don’t think we haven’t forgotten you’re a pirate. What the hell is that all about?» Edina questioned back.
«Pirate?» The duke turned to the maid.
«My, what a joke in poor taste. I am but a simple liaison sent by Lady Renya, representing Rown Nautical Shipping, a subsidiary of Rown Company.» The cat girl maid smiled, narrowing her eyes at the party and sending shivers up their spines.
So the pirate part was still a secret.
It made a lot more sense that no one batted an eye at Renya when she showed up at Orturic a while back. Her public image was a captain of a shipping company and the adoptive daughter of a powerful businessman. To Kanae and her closest associates, she was a pirate lord that moved black market contraband.
«It’s fine for Thedia to come with, but what for?» Kanae asked.
«Thank you very much. After concluding a trade deal with Duke Kroenig on my lady’s behalf, I must return to inform her. I shall like to hope we arrive there safely, » Thedia said, her tone urging them not to pry any further.
Seemed like they would have extra company, heading towards Lograin.
«Lady Arenade.» Duke Kroenig raised his eyes to her, who had already jumped into the carriage. «I regret not being able to do more for those suffering across the lands. However, for the 30 or so children in Orturic, I can secure them spots at a boarding school in Radevic. It may be several months before they begin academia. Will that suffice?»
«R-Really? Yes! I can’t wait to tell them— I mean… It’s a start.» Arenade turned the other cheek, but she couldn’t hide her fidgeting excitement.
«As for you, Kanae, offering you sovereign land is not possible. This is the most I can do,» the duke handed a rolled up scroll which Kanae recognized as enchanted parchment of the highest degree.
Arenade and Edina leaned over to see.
«What is it?» Kanae asked.
«This is a special deed enchanted and signed with my blood. It allows you to claim any unoccupied land, developed or undeveloped, anywhere in my domain or where property has been built in my name,» he explained.
«I can own an actual home to live in?» Kanae was baffled by the very power in this piece of parchment.
The options were endless. A nice farm in the countryside, a mansion with more rooms than could be counted on two hands, or even an empty plot of land to build whatever he wanted. It wasn’t quite like having his own land to rule, but he and his party could begin establishing themselves as more than just adventurers.
Kanae tucked the parchment safely away in his satchel and began to tear up. Coming to this world, he didn’t expect to be treated so kindly. Most people he had met turned out to be genuinely good.
«I… I really don’t know what to say. Thank you for this…»
Duke Kroenig gently wiped Kanae’s tears with a handkerchief.
«There is no need to thank me.» He smiled, then pressed the cloth to his nose and huffed it. «You have already given me more than enough! The bathwater you have steeped in… your used bed sheets… and this cloth shall suffice!»
«Okaaayyy, this is getting weird. I’m going to take my leave now!» Kanae jumped into the carriage, followed by Edina and Thedia.
«Before you leave, can I make a final request from you personally? Will you bless me with a succubus spell?» He pulled off the magic protection ring to show how serious he was.
«Y-You’re really a perverted duke…» Kanae sighed.
«Your words intend to wound me, yet they also bring me great pleasure! Please, fire away!»
Kanae pointed a finger at the duke as the carriage was driving away and casted Turn Horny.
Thank yooouuuuuu!» Duke Kroenig shouted as he fell to the ground in ecstasy.
Back in Orturic, everyone was pitching in to help fix the city up after the demons had run rampant. No one could look Kanae the same way again after he was seen raped for entire day straight. Men would bow their heads and cover their crotches, passing by. Women blushed up upon meeting his eyes. He had gone from Streaking Dragonslayer to Demon Cum Dump in the span of two days.
Thankfully, the town didn’t suspect Kanae of being a succubus. He helped repel a demon invasion and kicked their leader out after all. A part of him wondered if now would have been the best time to reveal his true identity, and maybe people would accept him precisely because he fought against the demons.
It wouldn’t matter all too much, since he would be going to a new city soon and be faced with different people.
«I shall wait in the adventurer’s hall until departure.» Thedia bowed.
As soon as Arenade hopped out of the carriage, she was swarmed by the orphaned children.
«Miss Aren, you’re back!» They tugged and pulled on her robes to get her attention.
«Calm down and listen. I have a surprise for you all.» Arenade knelt down to hold a few of them. «You’ll be going to school in Radevic!»
All of them went sparkly eyed and dogpiled onto Arenade out of joy.
«Does that mean I can make more friends?»
«School? But Potts is too dumb to learn anything!»
«Will we ever see you again?» an elven girl asked, silencing everyone as it dawned on them that they might not see Arenade anymore.
«Of course. The next time you see me, I will have become the greatest hero you can brag about!» Arenade placed a hand on the girl’s cheek and gave a reassuring smile.
It gladdened Kanae that he was able to see Arenade smile so genuinely. She held him to his promise and dipped into their savings to give the children a place to stay until school began. That meant they needed to make a little more money to support them.
Gazing at the enchanted deed, Kanae already had an idea. Lograin was supposed to be a significantly bigger city than Orturic. Opening a store there would earn a lot more money than a small place like here.
Leaving Arenade to say her goodbyes to the kids, Kanae and Edina headed to the store to settle things over there. However, neither expected to find the place ransacked. The shelves and display were broken. Takumi and Ingrid were missing. Most of the merchandise was stolen. Ichi and Manabe were groaning on the ground, looking banged up. They were being helped by Lina and Rog from the smithy.
«What happened?!» Kanae asked.
«I’m not sure. We heard a commotion. When I came to check, your friends were badly hurt,» Lina explained, hands hovering above Manabe with healing magic.
«We were… attacked… by a bunch of… thugs…» Manabe mumbled, his face bruised up and had a black eye.
«They took… Takumi and Ingrid… I’m sorry, Kanae…» Ichi groaned before falling unconscious.
Attacked by thugs? Kidnapped? But why?
«I think I know why,» Edina quietly said, demeanor contorted in anger. She was by the front counter, holding a letter. Hastily scrawled on the paper was only a few words.
The Outriders send their regards.

Kanae awakened to the pricking of hay poking uncomfortably into his back and the cool chill of morning. Someone was grunting, breathing heavily in irregular gasps that brushed against his face. When Kanae opened his eyes, however, he came face to face to a human stablehand with disheveled orange hair and freckles thrusting into him. As they locked eyes, the young man froze.
«You got some nerve raping me first thing in the morning.» Kanae glared.
«Sorry, I—» As the stablehand frantically tried to get up, Kanae grabbed him by the leather tunic and flipped their positions.
Kanae offered a lewd smile now that he was on top and straddling the other man’s waist. «But since we’re already like this, you might as well finish.»
After riding the stablehand to climax, Kanae got dressed and exited the stables to stretch under the warm sunlight on his skin. Every single one of his holes were leaking with cum, dried and fresh. Glancing back into the stables, he noticed the distinct absence of languisteeds inside. Fearing that his party might have left without him, Kanae panicked and ran to where the wagons were parked. He breathed a sigh of relief, seeing Jarvy hitching the languisteeds to the carriage by the side of the road.
«Morning to ya. We’ll be departing soon,» Jarvy said, then raised a brow having seen Kanae emerge from the back. «Wait a sec. What were you doing over at the stables?»
«I was…» Kanae choked down his answer.
«Just, uh… sight-seeing,» he answered.
One of the languisteeds not yet hitched sidled past Jarvy and nuzzled its snout against Kanae’s chest. The large beast licked his cheek with a hot and thick tongue, causing memories of last night’s romp in the stable to resurface.
«Ho, look at that. Languisteeds aren’t normally the affectionate type. I think that one likes you,» Jarvy remarked with wonder.
«Hehe… I think so, too.» Kanae stroked the fuzzy black mane, shivering with pleasure as he thought back to being railed by a large languisteed cock.
Edina, Thedia, and Arenade were just coming out of the inn, packed and ready to go.
«Where the hells did you go last night, Kanae?» the necromancer asked.
«Oh, you know… out and about,» Kanae said, throwing a glance at Thedia who returned the look with a wink.
As they climbed onto the carriage to begin their journey once more, Arenade and Kanae were the last to get on. Kanae grabbed the priest’s hand before she set foot on the steps.
«Can we talk? I don’t want it to stay awkward between us. Lograin is supposed to be a new start for us, but it feels like we’re going in with a whole lot more baggage than our equipment.» Kanae let Arenade go, and she quietly closed the carriage door so the others couldn’t eavesdrop.
«I need some time.» Arenade sighed. «Obviously, I want to stay in a party with you. We’re supposed to defeat my brother together after all. Just give me some space to sort out my thoughts, and you can go back to using me as usual.»
«Is there at least something… anything I can do to make it up to you in the meantime?» he asked.
She pinched the seams of her ivory robes and looked the other way. «I’m not the one you need to think about making it up to, but… I have more to be blamed for anyway.»
With those final words, Arenade climbed into the carriage.
Their journey to Lograin took several more days on the Imperial Span until the uneven forest terrain cleared up to flat plains and jagged, green mountains which loomed overhead, like beast claws jutting out from the earth. Windmills were raised by the dozens along the fields here to take advantage of the strong winds from the geographical phenomenon.
Although Kanae was shivering from being chilled to the bones under the blanket of night, he didn’t want to take his eyes off the sight and shut the window.
«How does something like that form?» Kanae asked, pointing eagerly out the window to the claw-like mountains.
«I hear it’s from a cataclysmic battle between the gods thousands of years ago,» Edina said.
Arenade sharply expelled a breath through her nose. «Psh. That’s hearsay. What really happened was powerful mages, tasked by the then Arch-Bishop Garellia from the Church of One, terraformed the side of the countryside for farmland. They screwed up and blew holes into the mountains, as you can see by their unnatural structures.»
«What? That’s crazy talk,» the necromancer retorted.
A knock came to the front of the carriage, and Thedia opened the wooden slat to reveal their coachman peeking in.
«We’re finally here. Welcome to Lograin, ladies!» Jarvy exclaimed.
Arenade popped open the hatch on the roof of their carriage. Kanae and Edina joined her in the view as they rode towards the opened iron-bound gates of Lograin, framed by two giant statues of knights carved into the stone walls which extended farther than they could see.
Kanae beheld a magnificent city that took his breath away. The carriage came to a snail’s pace upon entering Lograin. Other carriages and animals clopped away at main thoroughfare, traveling up and down the road.
On the sides of the busy street were granite statues of gods, and at their feet were smaller shacks and wagons that had set up shop, hollering at passing pedestrians in hopes of selling their goods. The iron lampposts with magical lanterns were almost unnecessary by all the light pouring into the streets from looming buildings.
«Fresh meat buns for sale! Get ’em while they’re hot—»
«Extra, extra! Get the latest scoop on the demon invasion that was repelled in Orturic!»
«I got trinkets of all kinds! Want something fancy? Look no further!»
«Lograin’s mayoral elections are coming up! Cast your vote in the name of piety, Bishop Rudo will guide the city back to the holy path!»
Unlike the quiet streets of Orturic at night, Lograin was many times more alive.
The many cathedrals and temples came in all sorts of sizes and aesthetics. Many were gothic in architecture, with their steep and sharply-pointed towers. Others were simple, made of wood and less grandiose. They were all dedicated to the worship of the very gods on the streets, standing as testament to the wealth and devotees dedicated to them. Many residents wore religious garbs and habits, greeting one another with kind smiles.
«Wow. This place is amazing—»
«Wow. This place is trashy—»
Kanae and Arenade stared at each other, baffled that the other could say such a thing. It was then the two realized, glancing past their shoulders, that they had only been looking at one half of the bipolar city.
The party snapped right, in the direction of the religious side of the city.
«Flaunt your tushes elsewhere. You’re distracting my parishioners!» A priest and his fellow clergymen stormed up to their edge of the street to yell at a group of prostitutes a mere stone’s throw away.
Dear, Father. You haven’t come by in over a week. I was beginning to miss you! Have you gotten your erectile dysfunction fixed yet?» An elven courtesan, dressed in a blue gown and smoking from a pipe, blew them a kiss which tested the clergymen’s faith.
«Th-That… I have no idea what you’re talking about!» The head priest flustered and returned to the chapel, red up to his ears under giggling ridicule of prostitutes.
Jarvy hollered to a young, dolled up human woman leaning out the window of a brothel from her room, presumably another prostitute. «Hehe! Sherice, baby! Daddy’s back for another round!»
Can’t wait to see you later tonight!» She waved back.
The trio shut the hatch and dropped back into their seats to process what they saw.
«Lograin is, uh… quite the city…» Kanae said, purposefully leaving his opinion vague. «Does this place have an adventurer’s hall just like in Orturic?»
Thedia nodded. «It does. The one here is managed by members of the Church of One. Or you may take your chances with one of the many taverns of your choice to lodge in.»
When Kanae turned to Arenade expecting to hear her opinion, the demigoddess had opened the window to the religious side of the city. She appeared at peace, divine even from the glow of nightlights outside.
«This place sure has changed a lot since then…» Arenade whispered.
«What’s changed?» Kanae asked.
«Huh?» She snapped out of her reverie. «Oh, nothing! Just hoping we can get some shut-eye in a boisterous city like this.»
Their carriage grinded to a halt, and they exited onto a less crowded avenue, but just as illuminated, alongside many other parked vehicles under the shadow of densely packed townhouses. Even from here several blocks away, they could still hear the hustle and bustle of Lograin.
Kanae snuck away from the others and walked up to Jarvy, who was preparing to leave.
«By the way… If I wanted to check out some of the brothels… Where would you suggest?» he asked.
«Oh, an enthusiast yourself, eh? I don’t blame ya. Try a nice place called The Hole in the Wall. Won’t disappoint, I assure you.» Jarvy winked, then steered the carriage towards the more exciting side of the city.
Religious folks, traders and craftsmen, the affluent, and adventurers of all levels populated the city, a melting pot dissected by two conflicting forces.
«This is the City of Sin and Piety,» Thedia remarked with wonder. «Quite the alluring place, don’t you think?»
Arenade wrinkled her nose. «If by alluring you mean reeking with the smell of alcohol dripping, overused cunts, then I’ll have to disagree. Or maybe that’s just Kanae I smell?»
«I-I don’t smell!» Kanae cried, then sniffed himself to make sure and caught the heavy scent of languisteeds still on him. «Uu… I need a bath…»
So far, so good. No one in the city detected that Kanae was a succubus or saw through this Human Form skill. Even the patrolling guards paid them no mind, passing them off as mere travelers to a new place. Kanae might be in a new city with a fresh start, but he still had to be careful.
«Alright. Everyone decided where we’re hunkering down?» Kanae asked. «I was thinking—»
When Arenade and Edina pointed towards the religious side of Lograin, a wave of disappointment washed over him. He withheld his opinion and stopped short of pointing to the opposite side.
Thedia curtsied to them. «This is where I take my leave. If you have time to spare, I must insist you visit the Red Harpy, a casino in the Carnal District. It is where Lady Renya has made her stay.»
They bid farewell to the maid, and headed down the road past the townhouses to a quaint park.. At the center of the square was a large water fountain of an angel pouring water out from a jug. Beyond it was the adventurer’s hall, enormous enough for Kanae to have mistaken it for another cathedral like the ones around them.
According to Jarvy, it served a little under a thousand people, but not every adventurer lived there. Many were in the middle of questing or scattered about the city, likely sampling what the brothels had to offer or have taken residence in other taverns.
Since it was operated by the clergy, effigies of the Supreme One were a common sight in the building. Their shoes clacked upon the polished granite floor and crystal chandeliers chimed a tune from the ceiling. Right through the entrance at the foyer, Adventurers perused multiple notice boards organized and grouped by levels.
The adventurer’s hall was cross-shaped. They entered from the southern cross, and at the center awaited a circular reception area, inside of which receptionists were helping adventurers get a move on. To the right wing was an open smithy, alchemist shop, and enchanting parlor. On the left was a tavern floor, packed full of adventurers drinking after a long day of quests. Finally, the north end sported two sets of stairs that led to the upper floors, presumably where the rooms were.
«Next!» A bespectacled centaur woman, clothed in a religious white and orange robes, a large ribbon above her chest, and draped in walnut-brown hair signaled for Kanae and his party to come forward. «Names, please?»
«Kanae, Arenade, and Edina. We came from Orturic,» Kanae said.
«Oh, Supreme One, bless you! The three of you must be the heroes of Orturic!» she exclaimed, drawing the attention of other receptionists and adventurers.
«The ones who defeated the demons?»
«Idiot, they defeated the Lady Dahlia!»
«Does that mean the Streaking Dragonslayer is here, too?»
«Oh, no…» Kanae buried his face into his hands. «So much for low profile…»
Whispers from other adventurers were evidenced that Kanae’s renown wasn’t only just known in Orturic. Word traveled fast, it seemed.
The centaur woman reached across the counter to shake Kanae’s hands. «My name is Sellica. It’s a pleasure to meet you! I’ve activated your account at this hall, so you now have access to your funds from Orturic and may begin questing at your leisure. Will you be staying at the adventurer’s hall?»
«Give us the biggest room you got! One that befits heroes such as ourselves!» Arenade said, pushing to the front.
«The largest room would be the master chambers. It will run you 10,000 gold a month,» the centaur explained.
The three of them choked on the steep price tag.
«W-What’s a step down from that?» Edina asked.
The centaur lady slid a wooden placard across the counter to them which listed rooms in ascending order of cost. The master chamber was at the very top. Seven tiers were available to them.
«What’s the fifth tier offer?» Kanae took note of the price tag at only 4,000 gold a month.
«Tier five is the nobility chambers. Four master-sized bedrooms, one private bath suite, a balcony overlooking the Celestial Promenade, and a living room and kitchenette. Essentially an entire home for you to live in,» Sellica explained.
The party agreed to take that one. Costs of their living arrangements would be taken from their bank accounts, and they fortunately had two-million to spare, with some passive income being earned from Sexy Slime Goods.
«By the way, do we need to show you our character sheets?» Kanae asked, preparing to charm Sellica if it came to that.
«Oh, no. We already have your information from the previous guild hall. Unless you wish to update anything, like a class change, there is no need for you to us,» she said, handing them each their own iron key.
They went directly to their room and were treated to a much more spacious residence than in Orturic. The modest common room had a couch laid with an animal pelt in front of a fireplace, which doubled as a cooking station. Four doors led into individual rooms, furnished with thick woolen bedsheets and mammoth-sized fur pelts on the floor that were easy on their bare feet. A fifth door was a bathroom with a large, granite tub that could fit everyone if they really wanted to try.
«I call first dibs on the bath!» Edina shouted, racing into the bathroom.
Arenade claimed a room and tossed her stuff inside, then returned to head for the exit.
«Are you heading out?» Kanae asked.
«If we aren’t doing anything tonight, I’m going to visit the Church of One to give Supreme Asshole a piece of my mind,» Arenade said, leaving to explore Lograin.
She honestly had the right idea. As Kanae claimed a room of his own and pushed open the window to see the streets below, his eyes were drawn to a group of rowdy adventurers making their way towards the Carnal District. Kanae figured he would go do the same.

Kanae rolled off the alraune just as the entire bulb opened up and the petals unfurled. He and Edina spilled out of the flower on a tsunami of nectar, sliding into the feet of Arenade and Thedia, who were both staring down at him in disbelief.
«H-Hey, guys…» Kanae calmly greeted.
«Don’t ‘hey’ us! Mind explaining what you were doing inside that alraune?» Arenade asked, pointing to the creature behind them.
The alraune was completely incapacitated, drawing shallow and rthymic breaths, and bright red tongue rolled out of her mouth; she was soundly defeated.
«We, uh… got caught,» Kanae shamefully confessed.
«My, my,» Thedia giggled, her glinting two-toned eyes fixed on his naked body. «You had said you were going on ahead, not finding time to fornicate.»
«I-It’s not what you think! Being naked… erm… empowers my spells… and the alraune… s-seduced me.» He dressed quickly before embarrassing himself further in front of the hot cat girl maid.
Arenade used her newly gained Lesser Detox skill on them to remove the alcohol from their systems. Kanae felt a cold sensation run through his body and sobered up in an instant. The other, however, snapped awake with a start.
«You blacked out from alcoholic nectar,» Kanae informed the drunkard.
They walked over to the alraune, whose only sign of life was the ebb and flow of her chest filling with air as she panted. Her cheeks were flushed red from the intense pleasure Kanae had dealt.
«What do you want to do with it? Kill it for experience?» Arenade asked.
«No, I’d feel bad! She looks so defenseless right now, too!» Kanae threw his arms out to keep them from trying anything.
«In case you forgot, that thing tried to kill us! I don’t even know what this stuff on me is, but…» Edina sniffed and licked her own arm. «Oh, it tastes kinda—»
Arenade slapped Edina’s arm away from her adventurous tongue. «If you get sloshed again, I’m not saving you from a hangover.»
«Okay, wait. You have me beat. I didn’t expect you to truly be a succubus. Perhaps we can work out a deal?» Tearsal had recovered from her sexual daze and was already on her feet.
Startled by it coming to consciousness, the four of them leapt back and struck a defensive pose. Kanae and Edina, having already been trapped once, were extra careful.
«That’s rich coming from the one that attacked us first!» Edina ordered her skeletal army to draw their weapons at her.
«Neither I nor my nectar would have killed you. I only wanted to drain your magic a little and would have let you out by tomorrow. It’s just that goblins normally come by to exchange their magic for my nectar. They haven’t lately, so I’ve been oh so starved…» she explained.
«Eugh… Goblins,» Arenade remarked with apparent revulsion.
«What’s wrong with goblins?» Kanae chimed in. «You’re fine around Takumi.»
«All I’m trying to say is those mangy green midgets deserve not an ounce of respect or sympathy from me,» she said, then looked to the others to back her up. «Come on, you guys think so, too, right?»
«Your friend’s alright. He only hits on you, Kanae. As long as I’m not in his sights, we’re cooler than frost wisp.» Edina nodded.
Kanae’s impression of goblins were skewed by Takumi to begin with. He actually had no idea what kind of creatures they were in this world beyond what he saw from pornos back in Japan. They could be a bunch of rapists for all he knew. However, if they had the sense to conduct trade with others like the alraune here, they must be intelligent enough to talk to.
The party ultimately stowed their weapons, seeing that the alraune wasn’t a threat. The alraune was only hungry, and if Kanae was in her position, he would have hoped someone would be kind enough to feed him in kind. Although his kind of feeding was very different…
Sympathizing with the alraune, Kanae reached into his satchel to pull out a fragment of crystallized mana. The shining blue gem was one of many they had pocketed when the mana-vamp starfishes went on a feeding spree on the demon army. Seeing it left the plant monster girl salivating, eyes-widening, as she fixated on it like a starved child. As soon as he pressed the crystal into her palm, the alraune gulped it whole and squealed delightfully like it was candy she had eaten.
«That… That was maybe a hundred gold she just swallowed…» Arenade mumbled absentmindedly.
«Oh, give it a rest. We’re not hurting for money. Besides, it helps to make a friend out here. Especially with an alraune who probably has eyes and ears on what goes on in the forest,» Kanae said, producing another crystallized mana to tempt the alraune. «There’s a village called Bisk near here. Apparently shady-looking people came through a little earlier. They kidnapped my friends, so I’m looking for them.»
«It must have been the carriage that came down that stone road. For whatever reason, they didn’t follow along the wall as many do and went deeper into the forest instead,» Tearal explained.
«That has to be them! Do you know where they were headed?» Kanae snatched the alraune’s soft hands and leaned in so close that he startled her.
«I don’t know for sure. I can only sense as far as my roots let me, and I sensed they had traveled past the brook some time ago. If you’re heading that way, perhaps you may check in on the goblin village for me, too. Someone there must know more,» she insisted.
Thanking the alraune, they gathered their things to be on their way. However, before leaving, Edina scooped handfuls of nectar into a glass jar.
«Really?» Kanae put his hands on his hips.
«What? It tastes good!» Edina exclaimed.
«Ah, you think so?» Tearal smiled, squeezing her breasts and pinching both nipples, milking out what looked like the same substance. «I believe they are what your kind calls… breast milk and vaginal secretions. The goblins I have a rapport with in this forest drink it as grog.»
Suddenly, Edina didn’t look so keen on collecting the nectar anymore.
«I… don’t know if I should be grossed out or aroused,» Edina frowned, but ultimately gathered a jar for herself.
The forests here were just as vast as Turic, but trees were much less dense and terrain was easier to traverse through. It seemed more active at night, with creatures darting from branch to branch. They stayed close to the trees, careful to avoid having open spaces around them at all times in order to see a potential ambush coming.
The brook was just below the hill they had crested over, and a little ways beyond it was a wooden palisade wall, erected haphazardly with many gaps in between the old, moss-covered lumber. As the party drew closer, expecting the chatter of goblins, they were instead met with dead silence. Peeking in between the gaps revealed no light or life. Torches and braziers had gone cold, the doors of many shoddily built cabins were either broken or left wide open, and only a raccoon was present, nibbling on a piece of meat hanging on a drying rack.
«Where in the three hells is everyone?» Edina muttered.
«Whatever happened,» Kanae began, gesturing to the many boot prints on the ground leading in and out of the entrance that were too large to be goblins. «They might not have left willingly.»

That bastard Bardell. He was really pissing Kanae off. Him and his Outriders just couldn’t leave them alone. After cleaning the store up and reporting to the guards what happened, the party returned to the adventurer’s hall to come up with a plan.
«I’m not leaving until we find Takumi and Ingrid. That’s my friend out there, and Ingrid might have been a bitch, but she did start changing for the better while working for us,» Kanae said.
«Sorry…» Edina fiddled her thumbs, troubled that she might have caused this. «It’s all because I was involved with the Outriders that this happened.»
Kanae shook his head. «No, it isn’t. The only one to blame is Bardell and his syndicate.»
«I don’t mean to put a damper on our search, but not even the guards know what happened. What hope do we have?» Arenade asked.
When they reported the incident to the city guards, several of them had no idea and others just flat out ignored them. Which was weird. Because someone must have seen the attack take place.
«If I may,» Thedia began. «It is very possible that some guards within Orturic are under the Outriders’ payroll and looked the other way.»
The other three gasped. They hadn’t thought of that, and Edina corroborated Thedia’s suggestion that Bardell would have guards in his pocket. Leave it to the two who were less than upstanding citizens to come to that conclusion.
For now, the group returned to the store to check if they missed any clues.
Kanae watched as Thedia’s keen eyes discerned the tracks of a wagon or carriage in the dirt road, having parked right up against the door. The vehicle must have been somewhat large enough to hold multiple people and obscure what was going on, so that the crowded marketplace couldn’t see the front of the store.
The cat girl was more than just a maid. While he knew she was a member of Renya’s lucrative shipping crew, there appeared to be more about her than meets the eye.
«Judging by the direction they were headed, it is safe to say they went north. Since we’re close to the coast, north from here can be many places, but the primary mode of travel is the Imperial Span,» Thedia explained.
«Imperial Span?» Kanae repeated.
Arenade lit up and seized the opportunity to boast. «It’s an extensive highway built thousands of years ago by me— my ancestors still in use today. The length of the road extends from one end of the continent to the other, uniting multiple kingdoms and serving as the artery throughout the lands.»
«The Imperial Span is also how the Rown Company made most of its moolah. Isn’t that right?» Edina added, casting a look to Thedia.
«Indeed, it is.» The cat girl maid nodded. «Rown Company has conducted repairs to the highway, established rest stops and operated a transportation business, and more that have contributed to the growing prosperity of all kingdoms involved. All who travel walk the Imperial Span.»
That sounded like quite the feat of engineering. The closest thing Kanae could associate it to was the Great Wall of China back on Earth. However, the Imperial Span was designed with the specific intention to connect the continent rather than to separate it.
«So it’s possible that the kidnappers hopped onto the Imperial Span?» Kanae asked.
«If their intention is to reach whatever their destination is in a timely manner, then yes. On the other hand, if they simply wish to disappear, then taking beaten paths is also possible. In which case, finding your friends would be nigh impossible,» Thedia said, putting them back to square one.
As they thought further, Kanae caught sight of a pair of guards, wearing padded leather armor, at the market roundabout throwing suspicious glances their way. One of them had his back turned to them, leaning on a crate next to a vendor’s stall. Another was munching on an apple and pretending to talk to his partner.
«I think questioning the guards the normal way isn’t going to work,» Kanae said.
«Wait, you’re not seriously going to charm the guards, are you?» Edina asked, inconspicuously following his eyes to the pair.
«Don’t worry. I’m high enough level that they won’t even know they’ve been charmed,» he assured her.
Previously, when the Charm skill’s effect ended, the target would know they were charmed. At a higher level now, and after testing it on a lab rat of a demigoddess a few times, Kanae discovered he was able to fine tune the skill such that a charmed individual would think nothing of it.
However, he had only used it on Arenade. It would be his first time using it on others.
Kanae casually strolled up to the apple stand where the bright red fruits were displayed on wooden trays for people to pick out themselves. The guards immediately tensed up, but he made it look natural by paying for a sack of fruits. Since there were other people around, he wasn’t able to outright charm them without it looking suspicious. So…
«Ah— sorry!» Kanae purposely bumped into a guard and spilled the bag of apples to make it seem like an accident. «I didn’t mean to! Do you think you can help me pick these up and carry them back to my friends?»
The guards were about to shuffle away until Kanae charmed both of them.
«Sure, we’ll give you a hand,» both of them said.
«Like a true succubus. Well done.» Thedia smiled.
Manabe and Ichi each brought a chair out of the guards to sit down on. Their eyes were glazed over, and there was no indication of them faking it like Will did back when they partied up. Now the interrogations can begin.
«Firstly, are you two spying on us for Bardell?» Kanae asked.
«Yeah. We were supposed to just keep an eye on you,» the one with a lazy eye said.
«Did you see what happened to the store earlier?» Edina chimed in.
«We were actually on watch to make sure no other guards butted in. Happened real quick. Outriders broke in, wrecked the place, and got out with two captives,» the other said.
«Where are they headed?» Thedia asked.
«They didn’t tell us that much. I did overhear ’em saying they were headed to a small village called Bisk.»
That was all the information they had. Kanae sent them back to the vendor stall where the charm effect ended, and the group proceeded to ruminate over what to do with the new revelations.
«You’re in luck, Kanae. Bisk is a village off the Imperial Span. There is no doubt they are traveling upon the highway,» Thedia said.
«Then there’s no time to waste. Let’s go!» Edina exclaimed, still feeling at fault and gung-ho to make things right.
Arenade and Edina went ahead with Thedia to charter a carriage. They were already packed to leave, and departing as soon as possible was a race against time to catch up. There was no telling what the Outriders were planning to do with Takumi and Ingrid.
Meanwhile, Kanae stayed behind to say goodbye to his remaining two friends.
«Counting on you to bring them back,» Ichi said.
«What do you want us to do? Keep running the store?» Manabe asked.
«Yeah. There should still be inventory in the back anyway. Chances are, even after saving them, I won’t be coming back with Takumi and Ingrid. So it might be a while before we see each other again,» Kanae explained, hesitating to leave them.
After two were already kidnapped, Kanae worried that it might happen again. The only way to truly end it was to take down Bardell himself which wasn’t going to be easy.
As Kanae picked up his bags to leave, he hesitated at the door. Instead of leaving, however, he locked the door and put up the close sign on the window, then turned around to face his friends. A pounding urge to sate his sexual desire swirled within.
«Do you guys… want to do it one more time before I go?» Kanae asked.
Ichi and Manabe swallowed hard. The large minotaur and orc cocks were quickly getting erect, showing as massive outlines in their pants.
