Hello. I have a similar problem like the one above. My graphic card is AMD Radeon 6800. and after a driver reinstall (newest version) the issue still remains. Could you give me some advice?
Thanks for your advice.

You still seem to miss a driver. Check the device manager for the GPU.
Press WinKey+R and enter devmgmt.msc to open it on Win10

I did what you wrote. The driver has been updated, but Vulkan problem still apears. I was looking for that driver in the web, but the link on AMD website is not working anymore.
Any chance that you can find it for me? None of the drivers I found helped so far.

Can you tell me the exact Vendor and Device ID of the GPU? You can find it in the properties of the GPU entry in the Device Manager. In the Details tab, select Hardware IDs from the Property dropdown menu. These are PCI identifiers and help identify the make and model of the GPU. Those are not unique between the same GPUs.
I have a hunch, but i want to make sure first.

Radeon HD 6850. Yeah, this GPU doesn’t support Vulkan. You can’t play No Man’s Sky on it.
Vulkan 1.2 is available on the following AMD GPUs:
Radeon HD 7000 series (some lack 1.2 support, check driver notes)
Radeon HD 8000 series
Radeon R5 240
Radeon R7 series
Radeon R9 series
Radeon RX series
Vulkan 1.2 is available on the following nVidia GPUs:
GeForce GT/GTS/GTX 600/700/800 (mobile only)/900/1000/1600 series and all RTX GPUs
Vulkan 1.2 is also available on some Intel IGPs, though possibly in an unsupported function subset.
Vulcan drivers have been part of AMD and NVidia driver packages for a while now.
Usually Vulkan is not a forced display mode, it is optional.
Many games have support for Vulcan API, but its not the default locked mode.
I think its a poor decision to be a forced mode.
Its like Windows 10 forcing all of us to use it just because Directx-10 to play new games, when developers like ID software and others were making Open-GL games that looked just as good without a required OS upgrade.
From a developer standpoint, yeah its easier to just focus on one Graphics mode, but forcing it stops people from using completely viable DX or Open-GL/CL and use lowered settings.
Then I see games like Quake-2 using RTX lighting, Minecraft, or DOOM ETERNAL getting RTX.
Its an optional feature, and its only a niche of gamers that would even use.
Now think if NMS was VR only? I doubt it would do much for the VR market, and probably even worse for NMS sales.
Options, and backwards compatibility is always the better choice.
Add all the features and updates you want, but widen the market by keeping them a choice, instead of forcing it.
Vulcan drivers have been part of AMD and NVidia driver packages for a while now.
The Radeon HD 6850 doesn’t even have enough VRAM in the first place. The game needs 2 GB for the lowest possible settings, the GPU has 1 GB.
The GPU in question is very much obsolete by now anyway (10 years since release!). Even a Nvidia GT 1030 beats it fair and square (though i don’t recommend anything below a GTX 1060 6GB, 980 GTX or AMD RX 480 or equivalent in GPU power for this game)
Also, the rendering this game does is so complex it requires multiple threads. Which is something OpenGL cannot do, but Vulkan can. OpenGL support is, performance wise, not an option anymore for this game. The other solution would be Direct3D 11 or 12. If they had a developer capable of doing D3D, they’d probably offer that as an alternative.
I know, GPU shortages make GPUs currently very expensive and hard to obtain. If you have a low-latency unlimited broadband connection, you can play No Man’s Sky on GeForce Now.

If you have the latest driver, and you’re certain that your card supports Vulkan, try re-installing your drivers.
I got the same «unable to initialize vulkan» error, and it worked after I re-installed my graphics drivers (I have a GTX 1080). Also make sure you do a «clean install» when re-installing your drivers.

I know it’s been several months but for those who found this on Google like I did and had a fresh install of new drivers not fix the issue, if you have a GeForce card maybe visit their Vulkan driver developer page:
UPDATE: Although the above fixed the Vulkan thing, my game kept crashing. That was what I was originally trying to fix and what precipitated the Vulkan error.
I had, with realizing it, found an old driver to «fix» the crashing error. Then came Vulkan. But once I found the real latest driver at Nvidia (rather than a Google search), things have gone better.
But you shouldn’t have to know anything about drivers anyway. The game developer should do all that for you! Uninstall and reinstall the game works sometimes and you can let Hello Games know you have a problem and see if they help you fix it or maybe visit a community page and see if other No Man’s Sky players can help out.
I haven’t had any issues for a long time now so I’m not really up to date on current bugs.
I had the same problem with the game not starting. Crashing with no error after Hello Games scree. It exited with no further warning.
Drivr update did not work. Windows update did not work either. Re installing it all did not work.
Solution: Disable Windows audio service before starting the game.
After it loads you can re start the service and have audio in the game.
I now start the game from a Batch file like this:
net stop audiosrv
start «» «K:\Games\No Man’s Sky\Binaries\NMS.exe»
timeout 30
net start audiosrv
Change the EXE file line as needed in your case.
Depending on your system speed you may need to increase the timeout to restart the audio service.
Run the BAT file as Administrator or will not work.

So I tried to play No Man’s Sky BEYOND today as I have not played it yet and this showed up instead of the game, «Unable to initialise Vulkan (vkEnumerateInstanceExstensionProperties failed.) You may not have a Vulkan drivers installed, or an old driver on your machine may be corrupted.
My PC’s Specs:
Intel Core i5 8400 @ 2.80GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
8GB Kingston HyperX Fury RAM (2666MHz)
Windows 10 64-bit
All of my drivers are updated to the latest version.
Only official info from Hello Games I could find is this [www.nomanssky.com]
I’ve been looking around and I’ve come up empty handed. But I’m sure as the internet is a place of the truth and nothing but the truth that you people know the answer to my problem.
Even if your drivers are up to date, try clearing them completely with DDU and reinstalling the most recent deployment. 1050Ti certainly supports Vulkan, but that error normally happens with drivers that don’t have support.
If that still doesn’t work, ensure your 1050Ti is forced as the primary adapter both in the Nnvidia Control Panel and in NMS’s settings.

Unable to find any graphics drivers installed that support vulkan no mans sky
I can’t seem to run this game as it give the Vulkan error whenever I start the game.
I’ve installed the latest Nvidia Driver 431.60 and VulkanRT but it still give me the same error.
Also the game runs under Nvidia GPU as shown in Nvidia Control Panel.
Laptop Spec:
AMD Ryzen 7 3750H
GTX 1660Ti
16GB DDR4
My issue is fixed. Method : Disable integrated GPU ( for me it is Vega Graphic ) in the device manager
Its a warning saying: The Vulkan driver currently on this machine reports no GPUs that support Vulkan. And the game just close after I click OK
Download DDU, restart in safe mode, and run it. Make sure to check the box to remove your vulkan library. Select the options on right to uninstall your GPU drivers, and make sure nvidia is selected, then complete the process.
Restart and install your GPU drivers again. Restart again.
This forces a full re-installation of your Vulkan libraries, which I suspect have become corrupt.
(you don’t have to separately install Vulkan RT, all the files you need will be included in your GPU drivers. Remove it prior re-installing GPU drivers to ensure the separate install of vulkan libraries don’t interfering with your game)
If that doesn’t work:
The game may be trying to run off your iGPU. You could disable it in your BIOS to prevent it from working, or you could change your power plan and nvidia options to always use your more powerful GPU. Also, make sure you are trying to play while plugged in to power, your laptop may be configured to only use your iGPU if you’re not plugged in.

This fix my issue thank you @Bilbo Laggins I’ve marked the comment as answer 🙂
Also did you install VulkanRT seperately to your 431.60 Nvidia Driver? If so, where did you install it from?
thanks

Same exact problem on the same system(Zephyrus G). I’ve followed the DDU steps exactly, and not for the first time since the Beyond update but it just doesn’t work. My 1660Ti is just not being recognized as a vulkan GPU at all. Not ingame, not in vulkaninfo either. Here’s a screenshot of my vulkaninfo if anyone could help I’d much appreciate it! 🙂
Weirdly enough, it works perfectly fine on my desktop with a 1080Ti and the same drivers. Everything is up to date, windows, nvidia drivers, perhaps Nvidia just broke the vulkan drivers? I’ll try DDU again and install some older drivers when I have a moment but that’s probably gonna be late Sunday.

Do you have an integrated GPU? looks like you do in that screenshot. If you do, just disable it in task manager and you should be good.

Yes, the vega 10. This did work, i’ve disabled the vega10 in device manager and even restarted but windows was all enlarged as if there were no drivers installed. The game actually launched, I was loading into the game as normal and vulkaninfo actually listed the proper things, but the game is capped at 3fps. I’m not too sure what that could be from. I just enabled the vega10 again and windows returned to normal. Forced the laptop to use 1660Ti in nvidia control panel for everything and the error is back.
Doing those steps will force steam to detect your correct 1660ti’s driver environment. you can copy all that system information with a right click, and paste it here (Or just the GPU section if you prefer).

If you have an integrated graphic + discreet graphic.
got to nvidia control panel
Change the gpu to high performance gpu
Check the next tab Program setting
select no man’s sky and check for the same reference
Works fine for me on the listed systems to give you a idea of what it will run on. Dell Optiplex 7040 micro, 7020, 2050, with only 30-48fps with a tweaked display setting of all things set to standard graphics, display put to 1280×800(this setting was only needed for the Intel HD 530, 5000, and 7000 series gpus) (only for the intel HD grahpics never had to lower from the highest settings on any of the gtx series gpus).
Worked with out problem on or any type of tweaking at all with no lag or any sort of visual issues on my GTX 1050, 1060, 1080ti series laptop/desktop computers running windows 10 pro x64.
Edit: Had to mention, you need a bare minimum of 8gb ram for the game to work on the intel HD gpu computers, with the higher end graphics i was able to run it on under 4gb of ram but with some instabilities (until i put back in a minimum of 8gb). Also the intel HD graphics, some would pop up a vulkan error. Just ignore it or acknowledge it and the game would run fine (this includes those devices being on the most updated intel graphics hd chip sets firmware).
