Biography [ ]
Early life [ ]
Vladislav claims he was turned into a vampire at the age of sixteen. He was a powerful warrior and earned the title of «Vladislav the Poker» for his acts of torturing enemies by poking them.
Vladislav was once one of the most feared and powerful vampires in the world, this ended however after he started a relationship with the vampire Pauline, who he refers to as “The Beast”. During a battle with her, she impaled him on a lamppost and he became a shell of his former self, incapable of fully transforming into animal forms as he could no longer change his face. His powers of hypnosis were also affected.
Vladislav in cat form, unable to change his face due to his encounter with «The Beast».
At some point he moved into a flat in Te Aro, Wellington, with fellow vampires Viago, Deacon and Petyr.
What We Do in the Shadows (film) [ ]
Shortly after the documentary crew started filming, Vladislav and his flatmates attempted to drink the blood of the human Nick, however Petyr ended up attacking him and turned him into a vampire. Nick was welcomed into the vampire group, but Vladislav and the others grew particularly fond of Nick’s human friend Stu as he introduced them to new technology. Vladislav was particularly interested in the ability to “poke” people online.
Shortly afterwards, Nick inadvertently led a vampire hunter into the flat, causing Petyr’s death. Vladislav and the other vampires carried out the Procession of Shame and banished Nick from the flat.
Sometime later the vampires were invited to the Unholy Masquerade, which Vladislav was hoping to be chosen as the guest of honour for. The guest of honour was revealed to be Pauline, which caused an enraged Vladislav to briefly age rapidly. He refused to go, but changed his mind after reverting to his previous self and arrived as Pauline prepared to attack Stu and the camera crew. Vladislav fought Pauline’s new boyfriend Julian until Stu killed him with a wooden stake. The vampires and camera crew escaped the ball, only to agitate a pack of werewolves into attacking them as the full moon emerged. Stu was seemingly killed by the werewolves, leaving the vampires devastated.
A while later, Stu reappeared, having been turned into a werewolf, and helped reconcile the flatmates with Nick and the werewolves. Vladislav got back together with Pauline, only for the two to continue fighting. [1]
What We Do in the Shadows (TV series) [ ]
Vladislav on stage during the Nouveau Théâtre des Vampires.
After the death of Baron Afanas, the vampires Nandor, Laszlo and Nadja were summoned to the Vampiric Council, of which Vladislav and his flatmates were members. He and the other council members heard evidence from the Baron’s familiar and Guillermo, Nandor’s familiar. Guillermo confessed to the murder, which none of the vampires believed, and they plotted to eat him until Nandor confessed instead. Although all the council members agreed that they didn’t like the Baron, the council sentenced the three vampires to death by exposure to sunlight in a well. The three however escaped with the help of Guillermo and their roommate, Colin Robinson. [2]
Vladislav later acted as the presenter for a performance of the Théâtre des Vampires that was set up by the Council as a trap for Colin and the escaped vampires. He escaped when Guillermo intervened and started killing the vampires attending. [3]

Vampire’s Guide to Vellington [ ]
As part of the Vampire’s Guide to Vellington ad campaign, Vladislav can be seen exploring the nightlife of Wellington. [4] He was also present when the ‘W’ of the Wellington Blown Away sign was replaced with a blood-red ‘V’, and met Wellington mayor Celia Wade-Brown. [5]

Viago gets dumped by the love of his afterlife, and everyone does their level (terrible) best to help him move on. Anton knows a thing or two about not getting the life you thought you were going to have. The camera crew are back to film every moment of it. More or less.
“Katherine left Viago a note.” Deacon says, turning to the camera and making a face as a moan of anguish echoes from behind the closed door of Viago’s chamber. “It seems that she met a younger man at the bingo hall, and they have- well, not ‘run’ away, because I do not think he can run with that metal frame thing he has to use to get about but- they have left.”
A crash comes from inside the room, and then more heartbroken crying.
Deacon winces. “Vladislav is comforting him.”
“We could just kill her if you like-” Vladislav can be heard saying.

Summary
Much to Viago’s heartbreak, Katherine refuses his offer to turn her into a vampire and spend eternity with him. After being grief stricken for months, the vampires recruit Anton to help Viago process his grief (or as Vladislav calls it: be an emotional support dog). As a result, the two grow closer. Suddenly, news arrives. The supreme international vampiric council is arranging Viago to marry a woman he has never met nor loved to strengthen political alliances.
The vampiric council only kept this political marriage on hold because of Katherine. Anton volunteers to play Viago’s fake boyfriend to get the council to back off. After all, that’s what friends are for right? Haha… It’s not like they’ll ACTUALLY fall in love, right? 🙂

Biography [ ]
More ancient than Petyr, Alexandr or Baron Afanas, Goëjlrm has devolved over the centuries into a large bipedal winged gargoyle-like beast, with incredible strength despite his age.
Due to the superstition that the death of a vampire will result in the deaths of any vampire they created, Goëjlrm was at some point locked in a cell in the Chamber of Curiosities within the Temple of Blood-Devourers for his own safety by the Vampiric Council. [1]
In 2021, Nandor and Nadja were promoted to lead the Vampiric Council of the Eastern Seaboard of the New World. The Council guide tasked the two vampires with ensuring Goëjlrm was regularly fed. [2] The new leaders became so busy with their other duties that they forgot, leading the Sire to escape his cell. This caused panic for the world’s vampires, who feared that the entire vampire population would perish if he died. The Staten Island roommates, along with the guide and the recently-exhumed Baron Afanas, eventually found Goëjlrm raising havoc in a supermarket near Ozone Park in Queens. The Baron was the only person who could understand Goëjlrm’s ancient language and he negotiated with him. Goëjlrm initially refused to comply, fearing the Council were going to kill him, but Afanas explained that this was not the case. Goëjlrm calmed down, but refused to return to his cell.
It was agreed that Goëjlrm would live with Afanas and the hellhound Aspen in a house in Nutley, New Jersey, feeding off unsuspecting visitors from AirBnb. [1] Goëjlrm also started to learn how to speak English.
When Colin Robinson died of natural causes shortly afterwards, Goëjlrm and his new roommates posed for his memorial portrait painting. [3]
In preparation for the wedding, the Sire joins Baron, Nadja, and the Guide for a makeover. At the wedding, it is revealed the Baron taught the Sire English, mostly with flash cards. The Sire gives an eloquent speech in objection to the marriage.

What We Do in the Shadows (film) [ ]
Nick was the human ex-boyfriend of Deacon’s familiar Jackie. Incorrectly assuming he was still a virgin, Jackie brought Nick to Deacon’s flat for the vampires to eat. The vampires used hypnosis to play mean pranks on Nick, and he tried to flee the house. After escaping Deacon, Viago and Vladislav, Nick ran outside, only to be ambushed by Petyr, who then dragged him into the basement and offered Nick his blood to drink.
Nick’s injuries healed and he experienced the slow and painful process of transforming into a vampire. He moved into the flat and was initially popular as he helped the others gain entry into bars and clubs. Nick introduced his human friend Stu to the flatmates and hypnotised him to prevent him from realising they were all vampires, but eventually decided to tell Stu the truth. Stu took the news surprisingly well. Nick also asked the vampires not to eat or turn Stu.
The vampires grew fond of Stu as he introduced them to new technology, but soon tired of Nick as he kept revealing his vampire status to members of the public. Nick struggled to adapt to his new life, especially after realising he couldn’t eat chips anymore, and got into fights with Deacon, who was jealous of his appearance and youth.
One morning, Petyr burned to death after being exposed to sunlight in his basement. The vampires investigated that night and realised the sunlight was caused by a now-dead vampire hunter who broke into the basement through the window. When Nick realised the hunter was a man he had recently met on a night out, Deacon became angry and fought him. Police officers O’Leary and Minogue arrived to investigate the noise, but under Viago’s hypnotism they didn’t notice Nick and Deacon hovering in the air mid-fight.
Nick receives the Procession of Shame.
The remaining flatmates put Nick on trial for bringing a human into the flat (which was brushed aside as they liked Stu), telling people that he was a vampire, getting Petyr killed, and wearing clothes that were too similar to Deacon’s. Nick received the Procession of Shame and was banished from the flat. In a possible act of revenge against Deacon, Nick later turned a willing Jackie into a vampire.
The flatmates did not see Nick or Stu again until the Unholy Masquerade. Upon realising that Stu was a human, the guest of honour, Pauline, prepared to attack him. Stu fought back by impaling Pauline’s boyfriend Julian with a wooden stake. Stu, Nick and the flatmates escaped the ball but became distracted by a pack of werewolves about to transform. As the full moon emerged, Stu was attacked and seemingly killed, leaving Nick devastated. As Stu’s body was taken away, Deacon attempted to console Nick.
Shortly afterwards, Nick discovered Stu was alive and living as a werewolf with the pack that turned him. Nick surprised the flatmates by bringing Stu to the flat, causing the vampires to accept Nick back and reconcile with the werewolves. [1]
Nick working at Wellington Central Hospital.
Wellington Paranormal [ ]
Around 2018, Nick took up a job as a blood bag officer at Wellington Central Hospital to gain access to human blood. Two months later, nineteen bags disappeared at once and Wellington Police Paranormal Unit were summoned to investigate. Nick hypnotised O’Leary and Minogue into letting him go (which was the first time he was able to use hypnosis on someone successfully), but Sergeant Maaka requested they interview him again.
The two officers later encountered him in a park taking part in a vampire ritual with three other vampires and a naked human man. Nick convinced the officers that they were only roleplaying. The officers later saw Nick at a cemetery disguised as a deliveryman and caught him. Nick admitted that he stole the bags for a vampire party he was hosting. He was arrested for stealing and making a false statement, but was eventually able to hypnotise them into letting him go again and forgetting everything that happened that night. [2]

He does not live with the others but goes on a night out with them and Stu, and causes havoc after trying to bite the neck of a woman at a nightclub.

Biography [ ]
Early life [ ]
As a human, Laszlo was born somewhere in England in either the 17th or 18th century. He was was raised by his «nanny» and has little memory of his mother. [4] He was considered the most handsome man in a village badly affected by leprosy and plague, though he also contracted leprosy himself. [5] He attended Eton and played a game similiar to hockey there. [6]
One night, the vampire Nadja flew into his window and seduced him, before transforming into a hideous creature, biting him and turning him into a vampire. As a vampire, Laszlo gained powerful hypnosis abilities and the unique ability to control and communicate with animals. Like most vampires, he could transform into a bat, but for some reason he prefers to yell «bat!» each time before doing so. [5]
Laszlo married Nadja, and they’ve both had multiple affairs. Nadja has had several with multiple reincarnations of one person, Gregor. No matter what gender or species Gregor reincarnated as, Laszlo always succeeded in disposing of them by beheading, a fact that Nadja was unaware of. [7] Laszlo, who is pansexual, once had an affair with Baron Afanas, a ferocious member of elder vampire royalty. In the moment of Laszlo’s climax, Afanas told him to take over the new world; unfortunately Laszlo was too distracted to hear him properly. [8] Laszlo also slept with Nadja’s witch friend, Lilith, which caused Nadja to develop an extreme distrust of witches. It was also implied that he might have slept with his roommate Nandor at some point. [9]
Laszlo, a gifted musician, formed a musical duo with Nadja and composed several songs during the 18th and 19th century that would later be re-interpreted into other popular songs during the 20th century. The most notable examples include a “seafaring song” composed in 1792 that would later become The Beach Boy’s Kokomo, and an 1852 tribute to his local fishmonger’s wife, Chum on Irene, which would later become Come on Eileen by Dexy’s Midnight Runners. Laszlo was not aware of the existence of these covers until 2020, but did notice when two of his other songs became re-interpreted into For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow and Row, Row, Your Boat. [10]
Laszlo represented himself as a barrister in cases of soliciting and pornography, and he also defended several “hogs and horses”. None of these were successful. [6] Laszlo also gained maritime experience and apparently sailed sloops, battleships, brigantines and the Titanic “for two seconds”. [11]
At an unknown point, Laszlo gained a witch skin hat from a Bavarian witch hunter he was eating. He failed to realize it was cursed and the hat caused several calamities, including the Irish Potato Famine and a horse trampling Laszlo before trying to mate with him. Nadja kept trying to get rid of the hat but it kept crawling back. [12]
Around 1853, Laszlo travelled to California in the hope of doing a deal with the Devil in order to become a better guitarist, not realizing that the Devil’s Crossroads was actually in Mississippi. He rented a beach house in San Diego belonging to Jim the Vampire and neglected to pay the final month’s rent and the security deposit. Jim was so angry that he spent the next 167 years looking for Laszlo. [2]
During the Victorian era, Laszlo killed many people in London and was dubbed Jack the Ripper. [2] He would later produce a topiary structure dedicated to the vulva of Polly Nichols, his first victim as the Ripper. [13] No one found out Laszlo was Jack and he did not tell anyone until he was facing death in an incident in the year 2019. [1]
Laszlo became a member of the prestigious Sherwood Club, but was kicked out as they disapproved of his relationship with Nadja, who they deemed to be a peasant. Laszlo never told Nadja his true reason for leaving and was so disgusted by the club’s elitism that he vowed to leave the UK and never return. [14]
Laszlo and Nadja eventually sailed to New York on a ship with fellow vampire Simon the Devious, with who Nadja most likely had an affair. Laszlo brought his witch skin hat with him, making Simon jealous. Laszlo and Nadja settled in Staten Island while Simon went to Manhattan and quickly took over the city’s vampires. He set up a vampire nightclub, The Sassy Cat Club, which Nadja, Laszlo and eventual roommate Nandor frequented during the 1920s. [12] From the late 1800s to the 1990s, Laszlo appeared in multiple pornographic movies. [15]
Sometime before 1932, Laszlo ran afoul of the Vampiric Council after turning a baby into a vampire out of boredom. Another vampire, Garrett, was incorrectly found guilty of the crime and sentenced to imprisonment underground at the Temple of Blood-Devourers. Laszlo passed the baby to an acquaintance in the Bronx, and they eventually became a member of the council themselves. [1] Laszlo would later get in trouble with the Council again when they confiscated his car, a Stutz Laszlo, for his transporting of miners across state borders. [4]
In 1977 he turned the musician Elvis Presley into a vampire. Elvis would occasionally rent a coffin at Laszlo’s home to record new music. [16]
At the time of the documentary filming, Laszlo and Nadja were living with fellow vampire Nandor, energy vampire Colin Robinson, and Nandor’s familiar Guillermo in a house on Staten Island.
What We Do in the Shadows (Season 1) [ ]
Nandor, Guillermo and Laszlo await the virgins for the Baron.
Shortly after the documentary crew arrived, the vampires received a letter from Baron Afanas, informing them of his pending visit. In preparation, Nandor asked Guillermo to bring over virgins for a feast. Afanas was brought in a stone coffin to the vampires’ attic. The reunion went badly, with the Baron eating Laszlo’s familiar, June, lamenting the vampires not having taken over New York, and threatening them with death if they do not do so by the time he reawakens. Colin also drained the energy of the virgins (Jenna and Jonathan) before the other vampires could eat them. [5]
Reflecting on the Baron’s demands, the vampires decided to take over Staten Island Borough Council. Laszlo targeted council member Barbara Lazarro to win her favour. He knocked on her door asking if there is any way the city could be improved, she mentioned that the city’s raccoon problem was getting out of control. He lured dozens of raccoons to him with a pungi, killed them, and left their bodies on Lazarro’s front porch. Lazarro was horrified rather than grateful, and decried the incident at the next council meeting. [8]
Laszlo and his roommates discuss the werewolf problem.
Laszlo rediscovered his love of topiary design, and made his own topiary garden filled with designs inspired by female friends and relatives. One night, he realized one of his creations had been urinated on by a werewolf. He laid a werewolf trap, capturing Arjan, the leader of a nearby pack. This created a feud with the rest of the pack as they tried to treat Laszlo’s garden as their territory. This was resolved when Nandor battled their strongest werewolf, Toby, and defeated him by throwing a squeaky bone toy off the roof they were fighting on. [13]
Laszlo gained a new familiar, Justin, but he was quickly killed due to the cursed hat. Rethinking their plan to take over Staten Island, the roommates returned to The Sassy Cat Club to try and join forces with Simon. Simon only agreed to join them if Laszlo gave him the hat. After intimidation from Simon’s crew, the Leather Skins, Laszlo agreed and Simon went back on his word, kicking them out of his club. The cursed hat caused Simon to accidentally blow himself up with a flaming arrow, and Laszlo later retrieved the hat back from an unconscious Simon in hospital. [12]
In an attempt to eat Phil, the vampires’ new neighbour, Laszlo entered his window in bat form only to be beaten unconscious with a broom by Phil’s girlfriend. Staten Island Animal Control took a caged Laszlo to their shelter with Colin and Nandor in pursuit. When Laszlo regained consciousness, he tried to rile up the animals into fighting back against the humans in order to escape. Nandor tried to free him by turning into a dog, getting captured, and infiltrating the holding room, but the infiltration part failed when he got locked in a cage and also trapped. The two were only freed when Nadja arrived, who hypnotized the receptionist Bobby for the door passcode. To follow up on his promise to the cats, Laszlo freed them all, only for the animals to attack him. [17]
Laszlo and Nadja worry about the Baron’s awakening.
When Afanas finally awoke, he requested a «night on the town» with Nandor, Laszlo and Nadja. He proceeded to get intoxicated after consuming the blood of drunk humans and at one bar, Afanas admitted he had considered killing all of them earlier that night. Nandor admitted they were thinking of doing the same and laughed as Nadja and Laszlo joined in. The Baron appeared to be furious, causing the vampires to claim they were only joking, but he eventually burst out laughing himself. At a rave, the vampire group ate several people under the influence of drugs and became even more intoxicated. They arrived at the flat moments before dawn approached, only for Afanas to burst into flames and die in the sunlight when Guillermo opened the front door. [18]
Laszlo at the funeral of Baron Afanas.
The following night, the vampires buried Afanas in the garden between topiaries representing Laszlo’s mother and Nadja. A floating woman arrived and informed the group that they were to be put on trial under the Vampiric Council for their crimes. There, Guillermo confessed to the murder, only for Nandor to confess to keep him safe. The three vampires were sentenced to be killed by being locked in a well and slowly exposed to sunlight. As dawn approached, Colin arrived with a beach umbrella to block the sun. Guillermo saved the vampires by smuggling them out in a box while they were in bat form. [1]
Nadja turned Jenna into a vampire and became her mentor as she was transforming. Laszlo upset Jenna by insulting her poor vampire abilities, and Nadja forced him to apologise. He tried to make up for it by teaching her how to become a bat, but she could only manage an ungainly humanoid bat hybrid form. [19]
When a lonely Nadja used her psychic powers to lure Gregor to her flat, his latest reincarnation, Jeff Suckler, arrived via a stolen motorbike. As the two reunited, Laszlo arrived to confront him. He finally revealed to Nadja that he had caused Gregor to lose his head in every life, because he always made Nadja cry when he reappeared. Nadja was touched by this and asked Laszlo to give Gregor the gift of a full life. Laszlo agreed to this, but as Jeff cycled away, he was accidentally decapitated by a wire Laszlo had used to support his latest topiary design. [7]
What We Do in the Shadows (Season 2) [ ]
During the months leading up to the documentary crew returning, the Vampiric Council sent ten vampire assassins to the Staten Island residence to try to kill the residing vampires. None of the vampires noticed as Guillermo successfully and secretly killed all of them. Meanwhile, Laszlo and Nadja went through numerous familiars who died accidentally before adopting a new one named Topher. The couple adored him and all the vampires treated him more favourably than Guillermo. One night, Topher accidentally killed himself while trying to reset a faulty heater by the koi pond in the yard. The vampires took Topher’s corpse to Wallace, a necromancer, who agreed to bring him back. Wallace carried out the ritual and brought him back to consciousness, but when Topher returned to the house it became increasingly clear that he was a zombie. Topher eventually attacked Guillermo and tried to drown him in the koi pond, but Nandor rescued him and was unable to kill Topher. The vampires finally realised he was a zombie and brought him back to Wallace, demanding a refund. The vampires were instead swayed by the offer of free nametag keychains. [20]
Laszlo with his ghost.
Laszlo and Nandor at the Superbowl party.
During the 2020 Superbowl, Laszlo and his roommates were invited to a party by their neighbours Shaun and Charmaine, a couple who did not get along. There, Nandor and Laszlo ended up revealing themselves to be vampires to Shaun and had to hypnotize him into forgetting. The hypnosis worked too well and he experienced “brain scramblies”, leaving him in a highly confused state. The vampire guests decided they would kill him to put him out of his misery, but as Laszlo considered Shaun to be a friend, they also decided to make his last night exciting. The vampires flew Shaun away from the house and demonstrated their superpowers to him, but this only made him more terrified and confused. Upon returning home and seeing Charmaine, who he did not recognise, he declared his love for her and the two made up. The vampires let Shaun live so he can be devoted to his wife. [22]
Laszlo requests Colin help lift the «curse».
When Nandor decided to check his emails for the first time in over 10 years, he found an old chain email saying that he had been cursed by Bloody Mary and that he must pass on the email to ten more people in order to lift the curse. As he, Laszlo and Nadja started to panic, Guillermo called home in a hushed voice warning them that they may be killed by the vampire hunting group he was currently infiltrating. The vampires assumed Guillermo’s voice was that of Bloody Mary and became even more worried. They worked frantically to try and find ten email addresses and eventually received enough with the help of Colin Robinson. They sent the email to the ten addresses and heard a knock at the door, terrifying them. Realising that it was only Guillermo, the vampires celebrated the “curse” being lifted. [23]
Nadja finally discovered that Nandor destroyed her village when she found a painting of the scene in the house. She tried to kill Nandor, with Laszlo holding her back, while Colin, who was already drunk on power from a recent promotion at his workplace, feasted on their energy. Colin used his powers to keep the vampires aggravated and Nandor, Nadja and Laszlo continued to argue with each other until they became too weak. Laszlo and the other vampires aged rapidly and begged for mercy from Colin, but he rejected it, claiming that they never treated him as a friend. Colin then multiplied himself, creating two more copies, and declared them to be his new friends, but they became embedded in a boring discussion and fed off each other’s energy for sixty-three minutes until they all bored themselves to death. Colin’s roommates recovered and dragged the Colins’ bodies into the yard for a burial. After they gave a heartfelt eulogy, the original Colin suddenly awakened, admitting that he pretended to be dead in order to hear it. The painting feud was solved by Laszlo editing it to dramatically alter the scene. [24]
Laszlo in his human disguise, Jackie Daytona.
Jim the Vampire finally tracked down Laszlo outside his home and demanded he either pay the money back for the beach house or fight him in a duel. Laszlo chose the latter and fled to Clairton, Pennsylvania, when Jim’s back was turned. Laszlo adopted a new human alias, Jackie Daytona, and took over Lucky Brew’s Bar and Grill as a bartender. «Jackie» was immediately popular with the townspeople and became a dedicated supporter of the local women’s volleyball team, the Bucks, and boosted their success. When the Bucks realised they couldn’t afford to apply for the state tournament fees, Laszlo decided the bar would host a talent show to raise money. During the promotion, Jim stumbled into the bar, but did not recognise Laszlo, who decided against running away again. On the night of the talent show, Jim realised Jackie was Laszlo from his lack of reflection in a mirror and fought him. As the guests fled in terror, Laszlo tried to fight back with fire-breathing, but accidentally burnt all the money raised. The two vampires immediately stopped fighting and talked over their differences. Laszlo offered Jim the bar’s Big Mouth Billy Bass toy, which left Jim so happy that he called off the debt. Laszlo, now feeling more generous due to his time spent as Jackie, then earned enough money for the Bucks by burning down Lucky Brew’s and cashing in on the insurance, but accidentally killed one of the wait staff in the process. He then burned down another historic building to pay for their funeral. Laszlo returned home, and Nadja was overjoyed. [2]
Laszlo and Nadja discovered a poorly Simon living in the sewers of Staten Island, claiming all but two members of the Leather Skins (Count Rapula and his new recruit Carol) had left him. Nadja offhandedly invited them to stay at her house, annoying Laszlo as he believed it was a plot to steal back the cursed hat. Laszlo eventually turned out to be correct and he and Simon fought over it, with both parties repeatedly stealing the hat back and getting injured due to the hat’s curse. The fight moved outside and Simon led Laszlo into the sewers in bat form. Laszlo’s roommates followed and were outnumbered by all the Leather Skins with Simon wearing the hat. Simon asserted that he wanted the hat because he was envious of Laszlo and Nadja’s relationship and couldn’t gain satisfaction from anyone, including his own gang. The sewer grating he was standing on then began to break, with Simon stuck to it, leaving him to slowly sink into the water below. The Leather Skins and Laszlo’s roommates refused to help him. [16]
Laszlo finally discovered that his song, Chum on Irene, was plagiarized by Dexy’s Midnight Runners. As Laszlo and Nadja reminisced about the many songs they had written, Colin heard their music and suggested they perform at a gig he could arrange, secretly anticipating feasting on the anger and boredom of the audience. Laszlo and Nadja composed several new songs and performed at Colin’s suggested venue, which was actually an open mic night. The audience disliked their new music and booed them until they performed their “seafaring song”, Kokomo. The audience happily sang along and the couple ate several members after the gig. [10]
Laszlo shortly before being abducted by witches.
Nandor and Laszlo were both kidnapped by Lilith’s coven of witches and imprisoned in their hideout in Brooklyn. The witches intended to take their semen to use for spells, which the vampires didn’t mind until they realised it would be extracted using dangerous eighteenth century surgical tools. The other roommates arrived to help them, but this was delayed when Nadja’s confrontation of the coven revealed that Lilith had previously put on a bad disguise of Nadja to seduce Laszlo, and that Laszlo had at some point slept with Judith, another coven member, and Nandor. Nadja refused to help but Guillermo saved the captives by offering to sell the witches Nandor and Laszlo’s semen on a regular basis. Later, Nandor and Laszlo agreed to «finish each other off» to satisfy their arousal. [19]
The vampires run out of clean clothes due to Guillermo’s departure.
Guillermo eventually became too distracted by his possible vampire hunter heritage and left the house, causing the vampires to struggle without him. They were invited to the exclusive Nouveau Théâtre des Vampires event, not realising it was a trap set by Vladislav of the Vampiric Council. Guillermo later realised what was happening and made his way to the theatre. At the event, the four vampires were bound to their seats and forced to watch a re-enactment of them killing Baron Afanas, Ludwig, multiple Council assassins and the Hustle Dynasty (all of which were actually victims of Guillermo). As Vladislav prepared to execute the roommates on stage, Guillermo arrived and killed almost the entire cast and audience, thus saving his masters. [25]
What We Do in the Shadows (Season 3) [ ]
The vampires decide what to do with Guillermo.
Following the massacre at the Nouveau Theatre Des Vampires, the vampire roommates became afraid of Guillermo and imprisoned him in a cage in the basement. The vampires argued over what to do with him, with Laszlo wanting him dead. After a month, the Vampiric Council Guide arrived to deliver the news that the Council were impressed by the group’s supposed ability to kill so many vampires and assigned them as the new leaders of the Vampiric Council of the Eastern Seaboard of the New World. Laszlo immediately turned down this offer while the others accepted it. The vampires then decided to let Guillermo live and promoted him to the role of bodyguard. [3]
While Nadja tended to her duties in the Vampiric Council, Laszlo decided to devote his time to searching through the Council’s library to explore the world’s oldest collection of pornography. Meanwhile, Colin searched through the archives learn more about energy vampires. [26] During their research, Laszlo was shocked to learn that energy vampires expire on their 100th birthday, an anniversary that Colin was soon approaching. Laszlo hid this knowledge from Colin and decided to make sure that Colin’s final days were happy. [27]
Laszlo disguises himeself as Nandor using the Cloak of Duplication.
Nandor asked Laszlo to use the Cloak of Duplication to disguise himself as Nandor in order to ask out Meg, a receptionist at the gym he visited. Laszlo gave the task to Colin instead out of laziness, and Colin failed to seduce her. Colin passed the cloak back to Laszlo, who apologized to Meg but came on too strong when trying to seduce her, leading him to also get thrown out by security after quickly hypnotising her to forget the incident. [26]
Laszlo is reunited with his car.
Laszlo was reunited with his confiscated car after finding it in a hidden room in the Vampiric Council’s library. Thinking the room was built around the car, he attempted to drive it through the wall and damaged the vehicle. Colin offered to help repair it and ended up dismantling it. The vampires took it outside in pieces, attracting the ire of the Council’s Guide as they destroyed several artefacts in the process. Remarkably, he was eventually able to get the car reassembled and functioning again. [4]
Nadja and Laszlo at the casino.
Laszlo and his roommates went on their first vacation in decades when Sean invited them to the Monaco Grand Hotel and Casino facility at Atlantic City for his wedding vow renewal. After the first night, the roommates struggled to sleep in the hotel and realized that the soils of their homelands had been hoovered up by housekeeping. Guillermo flew to the vampires’ homelands, including London, to collect new soil. To pay for the tickets, Laszlo successfully encouraged Sean to lend his credit card, despite Laszlo’s lack of hypnosis ability. He soon felt guilty about taking advantage of him and once Guillermo returned with the soil, the group used their newly regained powers to fix a boxing match to earn enough money to pay Sean back. [28]
Laszlo defends Sean in court.
Sean soon fell into debt again after failing to sell enough pillows as part of a pyramid scheme. Laszlo offered to defend Sean in small claims court, with Colin acting as a de facto paralegal for fun. They lost the case and Laszlo and Sean drowned their sorrows in a bar. Guillermo promptly hired a drunken Laszlo to defend his friend Derek, who was placed on trial under the Vampiric Council. Guillermo argued that Derek’s petty crimes occurred because he was left without a mentor, and Laszlo “offered” to fill that role as an alternative to execution. Nadja, acting as judge, agreed in order to have Laszlo win at least one court case. Derek was subsequently sent to help Sean sell more pillows. [6]
Laszlo during the night the Sire escaped.
Nandor and Nadja’s negligence caused the Sire, the progenitor of all vampires in the world, to escape his cell in the Temple of Blood-Devourers. This caused panic among the Council due to the superstition that when a vampire dies, any vampires they created will also expire. Laszlo suddenly realized that if the Baron was dead, Nadja should have also died too. He, Colin and Guillermo raced home to exhume Afanas. The Baron, in surprisingly good spirits, agreed to help the team find the Sire. They tracked him down to a supermarket and Laszlo tried to lure him with a harmonica melody, but he fought back and Laszlo accidentally swallowed the harmonica. The Sire was eventually calmed when Afanas spoke to him in their ancient language and became his roommate. [29]
Laszlo and Colin are kidnapped by Sheila.
Laszlo and Colin Robinson stole a party boat in order to sail to Plum Island in the hope to find more information about energy vampires. As they sailed out to sea, they heard beautiful singing in the distance and decided to pursue it despite Laszlo correctly thinking it was a siren. The two vampires crashed into her island and were lured into her nest by her song, but Laszlo eventually gained the strength to fly away. He went to a Best Buy to gain noise-cancelling headphones, getting distracted by other electronics in the process, and eventually returned to find Colin insisting that his love for the sire, Sheila, was real and that he wanted to stay. Laszlo put his noise-cancelling headphones on himself and Colin and flew him away. Laszlo later apologised to Colin, who concluded that he probably was just enchanted and not really in love. [11]
A depressed Nandor was sent to confront Jan, a vampire who had not been paying her union fees, and ended up getting lured into her Post-Chiropteran Wellness Center group, a cult of vampires who were trying to become human again. While Laszlo was indifferent to him leaving, Guillermo became concerned and kidnapped Nandor, locking him in the basement. The vampires were horrified to find Nandor under the belief that he was a human, and began trying to deprogram him. [30] Their efforts only made Nandor even less happy and he decided to take a “super slumber”. His roommates were deeply saddened by this but respected his wishes. Soon after he started his slumber attempt, it was announced that the Supreme Worldwide Vampiric Council would be arriving that night for a feast in their honour. As the event coincided with Colin’s 100th birthday, Laszlo took the opportunity to make it a double celebration. After Laszlo took over Nadja’s toast to give a passionate speech about Colin, Nadja confronted him in private and Laszlo finally revealed the truth about Colin’s mortality to her and Guillermo. Colin announced that he would go to bed as he had a stomach-ache, and roommates realised his death was soon to come. As Colin lay in his bed, Guillermo, Nadja and Laszlo discussed their friendship. Guillermo took Nandor out of his slumber attempt to say goodbye, but when they arrived, the other vampires sadly confirmed that Colin had passed. [27]
Laszlo, along with Colin’s other closest friends, posed for a portrait painted by Donal Logue to honour Colin’s memory. During the painting, tensions rose as Nandor said he wanted to leave Staten Island and Nadja also revealed that she wanted to move back to London. Nadja and Laszlo argued until he finally revealed the Sherwood Club of London’s classist attitude towards Nadja was the reason why he was expelled and why he refused to go back to the UK. Nadja explained that she had been promoted to a more senior role within the Vampiric Council and Laszlo enthusiastically agreed to go with her.
Laszlo writes a letter bidding farewell to Nadja.
As the couple packed their bags to be shipped to London, Laszlo went into Colin’s basement to say a final farewell to him, and found a hole in his corpse. He followed the trail of blood from the corpse to find a reborn infant version of Colin, and realized he needed to take care of him. As Laszlo and Nadja went to the port of New York and New Jersey, Guillermo accompanied them to say goodbye, with the intention of returning to take Nandor to the train station. After Nadja and her doll settled into her coffin in a box, Laszlo pushed Guillermo into his coffin and nailed the box shut. Laszlo wrote a letter to Nadja explaining that he could not accompany her to the UK and had shipped Guillermo instead to look after her. Laszlo and Colin were subsequently left on their own in the Staten Island residence. [14]
