1. «What did you do at/over the weekend?» is a usual sort of question one would use to ask a friend (about his/her weekend)

2. «What were you doing at the weekend?» always requires a context (it may be implied) and may be kind of rude, said in reproof? Suggesting, in the context given by Thomas: «You should have got in touch with me, why didn’t you ring me up (what were you doing)?»

Is it O.K. to ask this question («What were you doing at the weekend?») in the context given by teddy? When I ask: «What were you doing, while we were working?» does it suggest: «You should have been working as well, what were you doing, why didn’t you come?»
