Family time — Время для семьи

At the weekend, Russian people like to enjoy their free time. Whatever they do, they like to be with the people who are most important to them — their children or their parents.

По выходным русские любят с удовольствием проводить свое свободное время. Что бы они ни делали, им нравится быть рядом с самыми важными для них людьми — детьми или родителями.

Spotlight on Russia spends the weekend with three typical Russian families — Spotlight on Russia проводит выходные с тремя обычными российскими семьями.

A) The Popov family enjoy cultural activities. At weekends, they always go to museums, theatres, and music concerts. Nine-year-old Galina’s favourite trip is to a science museum!

А) Семья Поповых наслаждается культурной деятельностью. По выходным они всегда ходят в музеи, театры и на музыкальные концерты. Девятилетняя Галина любит ходить в музей науки!

В) On Saturdays and Sundays, the Semenov family normally spend time in nature. They go for long walks in the countryside or do sports in parks. In winter, they go skiing. Ten-year-old Ivan also likes family bicycle-rides.

В) По субботам и воскресеньям семья Семёновых обычно проводит время на природе. Они совершают длительные прогулки по сельской местности или занимаются спортом в парках. Зимой они катаются на лыжах. Десятилетний Иван любит семейные прогулки на велосипедах .

С) At the end of the week, the members of the Orlov family love relaxing by doing sport. However, on rainy days, they enjoy staying at home and read a book or play board games together. Eleven-year-old twins. Irina and Sasha, love reading adventure stories with their mum.

С) В конце недели члены семьи Орловых любят расслабиться, занимаясь спортом. Однако в дождливые дни им нравится сидеть дома и читать книги или играть в настольные игры вместе. 11-летние близнецы. Ирина и Саша любят читать приключенческие рассказы со своей мамой.

I like family bicycle-rides in spring. We usually ride in the woods and enjoy the spring sun and birds’ songs. We have bicycle-rides almost every weekend in spring.

My favourite Russian celebrity is Nyusha, a Russian singer-songwriter. Nyusha is a stage name of Anna Vladimirovna Shurochkina. She’s considered to be the one of the most successful singers in Russia.

Nyusha was born 15 August, 1990 into a family of musicians. Her father, Vladimir Shurochkin was a former member of the musical group Laskovyi Mai. Her mother, Irina Shurochkina sang in a rock band in her youth. When Anna was two years old, her parents divorced. However, the father and his daughter still spent a lot of time together. Nyusha’s sister, Maria Shurochkina, was twice European Junior Champion in Synchronised swimming and her brother, Ivan Shurochkin, does Martial Arts Stunts. Nyusha first came to the studio at age 5, with her Song of the Great Bear.

At age 11 she began performing on stage as the group Grizli. The group toured in Russia and Germany. At age 17 she changed her name from Anna to Nyusha.

In 2008 Nyusha took seventh place in the international contest New Wave 2008 and also wrote the final song of the heroine in the dubbed version of the film Enchanted. In 2009, she released her first single Howl at the moon. Her composition won Song of the Year — 2009.

In 2010 Nyusha released her second single Do not Interrupt. The song became the most popular Russian-language hit in April 2010. The singer was nominated for the award Muz-TV 2010 in the category Breakthrough of the Year.

On 22 March 2011 Nyusha was nominated for the MUZ-TV in 2011, in the categories of Best Singer and Best Album. In October, Nyusha won the nomination of Best Russian Act on the MTV Europe Music Awards 2011.

Then there were a lot of wins and prizes for Nyusha. Now Nyusha is one of the most popular Russian singers.

Моя любимая русская знаменитость — Нюша, автор и исполнитель песен. Нюша — это сценический псевдоним Анны Владимировны Шурочкиной. Она считается одной из самых успешных певиц в России.

Нюша родилась 15 августа 1990 года в семье музыкантов. Ее отец, Владимир Шурочкин был бывшим участником музыкальной группы «Ласковый май». Ее мама, Ирина Шурочкина пела в рок-группе в юности. Когда Анне было два года, ее родители развелись. Однако, до сих пор отец и дочь проводят много времени вместе. Сестра Нюши, Мария Шурочкина, была двукратной чемпионкой Европы по синхронному плаванию среди юниоров, а ее брат, Иван Шурочкин, выполняет трюки с элементами боевых искусств. В 11 лет она начала выступать в группе Гризли. Группа гастролировала по России и Германии. В 17 лет она сменила свое имя Анна на Нюша.

В 2008 году Нюша заняла седьмое место в международном конкурсе Новая Волна-2008 и также написала финальную песню героини фильма «Зачарованная». В 2009 году она выпустила своей первый сингл «Вою на луну». Ее песня стала Песней года-2009.

В 2010 году Нюша выпустила свой второй сингл «Не перебивай». Песня стала самой популярной в русскоязычном хит-параде Апреля 2010 года. Певица была номинирована на музыкальную премию Муз-ТЫ 2010 в номинации Прорыв года.

22 марта 2011 года Нюша была номинирована на премию Муз-ТВ 2011 в номинации Лучшая певица и Лучший альбом. В октябре Нюша выиграла номинацию Лучшая российская певица в премии МТВ 2011.

Затем у Нюши было еще много побед и призов. Сейчас Нюша — одна из самых популярных российских певиц.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE…?

My favourite time of the day is early morning, when I can drink coffee and read a book before the beginning of my workday.

I prefer to study in a living room.

My favourite actor is Matthew McConaughey, and my least favourite actor is Tom Cruise.

I like softball, because my niece plays it and she is really good. It’s a cool game.

I like walking around forests and parks. I’m lucky to have a wonderful forest not so far from my home. It’s a very peaceful place. I go there almost every day.

I like the expression “just in case”. It’s a nice one if you want to finish your speech.

I think it was “The Jungle’s call”. It was a TV programme for children, where two different teams were competing with each other.

I like chips, but I can’t say what my favourite restaurant is. Maybe “Kentucky fried chicken”.

I was at the airport on my way home from London and went through customs.

Airport worker asked me to take off my shoes and I asked him about shoe covers in Russian, because my English was not very good. The funniest thing was that he understood me.

My favourite clothes are high rise jeans, my favourite clothes store is HM.

I work a lot with Adobe Premiere Pro. I make all our videos in this programme. I think it’s my favourite one at the moment.

I was fond of exact sciences like mathematics and physics. I also did a lot of sports. My least favourite subject was chemistry.

I don’t like slang and jargon. I think these kinds of words make our speech worse. It doesn’t matter what language it is.

I am quite persistent. I like achieving my goals. It’s the feature I like about myself. But sometimes I am absent-minded and I make stupid mistakes. So I am always trying to double check everything I do.

There are a lot of good songs. I can’t say what my favourite one is. I like Cris Rea a lot. His songs are so pleasant and smart.

I really don’t know. I think there is no one who I would like the most or the least.

There are a lot of good jokes. I would recommend you a website Jokes in levels.

I like the Summer. My least favourite time of the year is the Autumn, especially the late one in November. It’s quite depressive.
