What kind of books do you like to read?

Is it Action and Adventure, Suspense, Comedy, Science fiction or maybe real life, what trips you trigger?

I read all sorts of genres from action adventure, thrillers, mysteries, cozies, romantic suspense and all sorts of various subgenres. I don’t read horror, literary fiction, erotica. I read very little sci fi and fantasy and nonfiction.

I’m interested in reading the book, chicken soup for the soul. It inspired me in which most of the contents give some advice in this life.

I love to read all kinds of books. I like to read non-fiction Christian books and fiction books. I like to read wholesome romance novels and fantasy novels. I like a lot of different kinds of books. I like historical fiction too. There are two genre’s I won’t read: horror and erotica.

I mostly love to read romance books. But I also read health, travel, cook books, and inspirational or motivational books.

Like all kinds of books, from erotic one, to religios one.

I often like fiction, faity tales which bring me back in my childhood. I undergo the best time period of my life through such books.

I like to read spiritual and self-help books. I enjoy reading these books. Some of the books which I like the most are Alchemist, The surrender Experiment and Bhagavad Gita.

I like Science fiction and Fantasy such as LOTR and A Song of Ice and Fire before the bed time. I also love when people sharing their experience in different area. It could be marketing or vet.

In particular, I don’t really like to read, but I have my preferences, some being slightly specific. They are, science books and comic books.

I must also point out that I read books with striking and striking stories, and that they attract me in a certain way, that I can read her, continuously. And for them to captivate me in such a way, they must have something that I like, and that I would love to learn more. Like Kazuhiro Fujitaki’s series of sleeves, which reveal subjects about the sciences, and the exact area (such as mathematics). One manga from this same series that I like a lot is the «Manga Guide to Electricity».

Now, some types of books that I don’t like very much are, classic literature books and novels, like the book «The Fault in the Stars».

I like to read non-fiction.

I like to read many sorts of books. When I want to escape, my favourites are fantasy literature, including children’s books, and murder mysteries. However, I also like to read non-fiction, about subjects which interest me such as Egyptology, Jungian psychology, mythology and other fairly esoteric matters. I read «serious» literature and classics as well, although tend not to read too many classics as I find some of them dry. I absolutely cannot abide chick lit, romance and «hard» science fiction about space ships with lots of techno-talk in them. I’m fortunate to be part of the Bookcrossing community and have come across many books and authors I would not have heard of otherwise.

I am a book lover. I was once a bookworm and read lots of books by Tolstoy, O Henry, Poe, Jack London, Jafrey Archer and so on. I gone through your list of books. Many are new names for me. I will try them.

I love them all! I don’t read Harry Potter, or the Vampire books; with the exception of Anne Rice. Anything that has a story line that I can get into I will read it. Chuck Palahniuk, Tom Robbins, Philippa Gregory, Stephen King to name just a few. So many amazing authors out there!

I like so many books! Suspense and Horror (Stephen King Mostly) I like a good biography, or a political book, I like classics, Books that help me look at myself (I guess you could call them self help even though I hate the term). If it has words and pages I like it pretty much!

I like historical books and anything that is interesting. I am trying to read jane Austen and I thought I wouldn’t like them but not bad.

Some time back I read a book titled: «How to Win Friends and Influence People?» by Dale Carnegie. I run through a few pages of the books. OMG! It was first published in 1937!

The book written almost three-quarter century ago can still influence the current generation. The book is one of the all-time international book sellers.

Great book in that you can read a few chapters to refresh your mind. I also like to read biographies and roman a clef trying to guess who the «fictional» characters are based on.

I read a lot of young adult fiction, organized crime fiction, and historical fiction. I don’t mind fantasy books like Harry Potter or science fiction like the Gone series, but they aren’t what I’d usually pick up off a shelf if I just saw them lying there. I also enjoy the occasional romance novel or chick-lit.

I don’t seem to be able to get enough science fiction.I always have one on the go and always order several more whenever i’m getting close to finishing my current batch.Love it 🙂

Your question is a very practical one and how I wish that I could answer it in a practical way. Whether it’s because I was reading since the age of four and my Soul does not like to do this anymore, I cannot say.

I Love Reading Books and I also Love writing but the best for me so far as a Teenager is Fiction not because its more on Romance but because there are some stories that really caught in our eyes, mind and hearts.

Funny fantasy. Terry Pratchett was my favourite author.

I like stories where I am pulled in so well that I think I am part of it. This usually means a thriller. Humor is a plus.

I like to readbooks that lift up my spirit. Most books comes from Christian writers. The words of God it is the best thing for my soul. My brain needs books where I can learn any good subject, so I can apply it in my life. I like to entertain my life with the famous historical romance books. There are so many good books that I frequently read the section of the most popular books on the Sunday newspaper. I look on Amazon; what are the most popular books. I read a few science fiction books also.

A book is an adventure..to me. I read what I need to improvise, relief and know. All authors are sharing, whether it is their views, experiences or knowledge. Where ever I am at one moment in time, a certain book may be a companion, light, healer and inspiration. I am a book lover who respects generations of writers and I cherish each book according to it’s blessings. This of course does not ask for the answer to my favored authors.

I read various genres. However, I think my favourite still remains mystery/crime/suspense. It’s what I read the most.

I enjoy reading books that expose the hypocritical ways of the founding fathers. They fought a Revolution for their freedom, yet held millions of Africans in abject servitude. They hated the African man, but could not get enough of the African woman, then and now.

I would always go for a good fiction.

Books are basically stories you connect yourself to. So I like to read the kind of books that actually relate to my life. Also, I love to read books that inspire. The books that make you pause for a moment and think, «the world isn’t such a bad place after all.» May it be fiction, non-fiction, or the total love story types.
Coming to my opinion, I am seriously in love with with fiction. May it be the most beautiful love story, «The Notebook» or, the science-fiction superhit series, «Divergent.»
As they say, the magic is in the details: these kind of books make you fall in love with the moment. With descriptions written so beautifully, you actually feel like you are a part of the moment.

I agree and whatever genre it is, helps me to discover another new realm of reality. And of course it is therapeutic as well (when escapism-mood kicks in).

It’s really difficult to answer this question. I like to read different kind of books.
But if I think deeply, I have more passion for non-fiction books.Specially mythology and anthropology. I love reading popular science books.
But my interest isn’t confined to non-fiction books only.I have a great passion for classic Greek literature. Sometimes graphic novels give me a refreshed mood.And horror! Who doesn’t love reading a horror novel in a lonely rainy night?

Genres I like best are philosophy and psychological thrillers. They keep me thinking.

I like fantasy and YA. Some classics are interesting too. Self-help are awesome. All of them help me learn about myself. But ultimately, my favorite book of all time is The Little Prince. There is so much knowledge and wisdom in the book that I went to buy a hardcover book of it despite having read it online for free. Reading the little prince’s adventures was magical for me, though I’m not sure if it was just me. I even made a Hub out of it. Up till now, it remains the best book I have ever read.

I like to read detective novels,comedy&children’s books.I like Sherlock Homes and sometime thinks, if I was his assistant.

Most of my interests lean toward the more Supernatural genre, along with Fantasy, Fiction, Adventure, Suspense, etc. I find myself liking more powerful main characters who have a destiny that they must accomplish, but veer away from it and create a new destiny altogether. I also read Historical Fiction when I want to get a glimpse of past lives and how they might have lived. In summary, I mainly read Fiction with Action and Adventure within it.

I read the same as you, but I don’t limit myself. I am also a writer of Fantasy, Fiction, Romance, but I am trying my hand at adventure now as well.

You mentioned historical fiction and that is one of my favorite realms, but I also like historical non-fiction that can help me make sense of this crazy world.

Science fiction, real life and adventures

I read a variety of genres. Mostly Murder Mysteries. Ever since The Boxcar Children and Sherlock Holmes I can’t get enough of whodunit books. So in those lines authors will be: James Patterson; Clive Cussler; J.D. Robb and plenty other authors.

I also enjoy books that make you think. Like Jojo Moyes. She really makes you think about your life and what exactly are you doing with it. Just like Mitch Albom, Billy Coffey and many others.

Also too I love Thrillers. Horror no, but thrillers yes. Like Alfred Hitchcock.

I like to read the bible. Reading and hearing daily.

I make it a point to read as widely as possible, so it’s easier to put what I will never read. Books that put pontification of the author’s opinion over telling a story. Have never been able to bear more than a few pages of such stories.

I like to read books written by Dr. Henry Cloud and John Townsend on boundaries, relationships, family, dating. Also books by Dr. Henry Wright on health, disease, addictions, rejection, etc.

Reading has been always my favorite hobby and I pretty much read anything, though I cannot stand romance books because frankly, I find it boring. I love reading some adventure books with romance in it though.
I particularly love reading books with crime or mystery genre and fantasy with mind-blowing plot twist in it. Science fiction is not my favorite but I don’t mind reading it if there’s a suspense in it. Psychology also intrigued me.

I like my own books best, but then I’m prejudiced (probably because I already know what is going to happen.)

I like something I can learn from so I don’t feel guilty spending my time on a guilty pleasure. I read a lot of biographies because I’m amazed by how someone gets from where they begin to where they end up.

I love historical fiction and mysteries set inside a political story. Vince Flynn was great at that and so is Brian Haig (yes, he is related. Alexander was his father.)

Reading is a guilty pleasure, and I’m cautious of how much of my day I spend doing it. But as a writer, reading a variety of authors really is a matter of learning my craft. (That sounds good, doesn’t it?)

I too love historical fiction; but I also like historical non-fiction, especially books that help me learn about my family history.

I like to read books that are not too romantic and too realistic but amalgamation between the two.

I like reading YA fiction. Especially, books with love triangles, and where love and mafia are involved.

Books with supernatural creatures like Fallen Angels and Demons are the most interesting.

LGBT spark a different kind of interest in me. I like reading not only about the struggle, but about the entire journey, the complications they face and how cynical they are about it sometimes. These books are eye-openers but also good reads most of the time.

Books that show the indomitable spirit of human nature.
Books about language and communication.
I love a well-written book about a film as long as it doesn’t go too wordy and off the trail.
It is great to find a book that makes you laugh like any of Bill Bryson’s books.

I guess the only type of books i read are the ones that let me escape the individual realities for sometime, say that be any genre. Sometimes reading is the only way that you can try to judge a person by reading his whole story rather than a live one whose life is just known in mere parts.

For me what I class as escapist fiction is what I go for. These books are normally within the fantasy or science fiction genres and mainly classed as YA fiction.

One of my top picks is Time Travel fiction.

I am a book lover. I read all kinds of genres but my favourite is romantic mystery / thriller like marry me, stranger.Moreover I also read Jane austen.

I like to read all sorts of books, but I enjoy stories that are light hearted and help me to escape my problems.

The last book I read was called, The Heretic QUEEN, when I open this book, it was like I could not, put this book down until, I finished the book until the end, I haven’t done that in a long time, this book was so enjoyable, I like reading books the hold my attention.

I like to mostly read American and British classics like Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, The Great Gatsby, Catcher in the Rye, and so many more. I also like romance novels, political, sociological, and historical novels.

In my opinion, reading is still popular with teenagers. Firstly, everyone wants to show that he or she is broad minded and books help to absorb information from various spheres of human knowledge.

Moreover, reading helps teenagers to get rid of stress.

– What kinds of books do you like to read?

As for me, I adore antiutopias and detective stories. Historical novels are also favourites for me. But every book can be attractive if it has an exciting plot and vivid, true-to-life characters.

– Why do many people prefer e-books to paper books?

Nowadays e-books are becoming more and more popular. People prefer them to paper books because it is possible to download several works on one device, having a whole library at hand. What is more, they are light to carry in the pocket owing to their small size.

– What king of books do modern teenagers prefer reading?

In my opinion, the most popular kinds of books for teenagers nowadays are romantic novels and fantasy stories. They reflect problems which an ordinary teenager has. Moreover, many of them are written especially for teenagers and are easy to understand for them.

– Are libraries necessary or not?

As for me, in our modern world libraries are unnecessary. Nowadays e-books are becoming more and more popular. People prefer them to paper books because it is possible to download several works on one device, having a whole library at hand.

– What book have you read recently? What was it about?

The book I’ve read recently is titled ‘All the Kremlin’s men’ and written by Michael Zygar. This book is about the current president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The author possesses good skills with language as all the complex political processes are described easily. That’s why I have read it from cover to cover.

Conclusion: All in all, it depends on people what books to read. But it is my firm belief that reading will be popular at any time.

What kind of books and magazines do you like reading?

Candidate: Um, I’m really not bothered about magazines. I never buy them, and I hardly ever read them only if I’m in the dentist’s waiting room, or somewhere else where there’s nothing better to read. I don’t really have an opinion about them.

Examiner: I see. So what sort of books do you like?

Candidate: I don’t read many novels. I’m much more interested in non-fiction. I’m a big fan of biographies.

I think there’s a lot to be learned from the lives of famous people. I like reference books. Obviously you can’t sit down and read an atlas or a dictionary of quotations, but I often spend time looking through that kind of book. Again, there’s a lot to be learned from them.

Examiner: Do you like reading any other types of book?

Candidate: Well, as I said, I don’t read many novels. I haven’t read a book in a while. I am in the 11th grade, and because of this I now the most important thing to pass the exams. My future depends on exams. at the moment I read the history of Kazakhstan and world history. In June, I will pass ОNT.

Examiner: Have the types of book you like changed over the years?

Candidate: No, not really. Obviously my tastes now are different to my tastes as a child, but apart from that, I don’t think they’ve really changed at all.

Examiner: Do you prefer reading books or newspapers?

Candidate: Ah, well, I’m obsessed with news and current affairs. I buy 1 newspaper every day and I read both of them. I spend much more time reading books than newspapers, so I suppose that must mean I prefer them.
