What kinds of films modern teenagers enjoy

Nowadays there are lots of opportunities for people to see any film they like — there are lots of TV channels and cinemas or you can buy a disk and watch a film at home or watch it online. In spite of all these opportunities I don’t watch films very often. It’s because I don’t have lots of free time and because I don’t find most contemporary films very interesting — I like the Internet more.

However, I saw an interesting film several days ago. It was an old film and I don’t remember its name. It was about a spaceship that landed on a far-away planet. The crew of the spaceship started to explore the planet and found very intelligent creatures there. They looked very different from us and the captain wanted to study them. Several aliens were killed. Fortunately, the pilot of the spaceship managed to explain to the captain that the people should leave the planet and not to do any more harm to the aliens. The astronauts decided not to inform Earth about the civilization they had found.

You can see that the plot of the film is not original at all. I was surprised that the film didn’t have any expensive special effects, but I enjoyed it because the actors played their roles very well and there were lots of good jokes and humour in the film. The music was also very good. In my opinion, the most essential things for a film are a good story and talented actors.

I think that film producers today often forget about these things and pay too much attention to special effects. That’s why lots of films are very much alike and are not really interesting.

1. Last time my friend and I went to the cinema was two weeks ago. The film was not very good but we had a good time anyway.

2. I like watching the Discovery Channel and different educational programmes. I’m interested in programmes which tell us about different countries, cultures, the mysteries of the past and the secrets of the universe.

I think holidays give us an opportunity to to have a rest and learn a lot of new exciting things. That’s all I wanted to say about holidays.

I’m sure travelling is one of the most typical ways of spending your free time. People like travelling because they want to change their routine way of life and see new places and meet interesting people from other countries. I’m sure the best means of travelling is going by plane as it is really fast and comfortable. Nowadays there are different tours in Russia. I would like to visit St. Petersburg and Kazan. I know these cities are among the most beautiful Russian cities.

I’d like to give a talk about reading books. Reading has always been one of the most popular ways to learn about the world and different people who contributed to the development of mankind.

Unfortunately, reading books is not attractive to most teenagers nowadays. They prefer searching the Internet and playing computer or mobile games. As for me, I like reading books, especially adventure stories and fantasy novels. I believe they have some fascinating plots and characters who teach readers to be strong, creative and hard-working to overcome hardships. Most people preffer e-books to paper books because they have a lot of different books in one device and really easy to carry.

On the whole, my attitude to reading is positive. I’m sure this activity helps people to get well-informed about the history of their countries and develop readers’ speaking skills, enlarges their vocabulary. makes them more cultured and broad-minded.

That’s all I wanted to say about reading.

I’d like to give a talk about travelling.

I’m sure travelling is one of the most typical ways of spending your free time. People like travelling because they want to change their routine way of life and see new places and meet interesting people from other countries. Besides, some people would like to practise their English or French or some other language, and travelling is the perfect way to improve your speaking skills. Different people like doing different things while travelling. Those who are risky and strong enjoy some extreme sports like diving, mountaineering and white-water rafting. Others prefer just hiking and camping, there are those who enjoy lying on the beach, getting sunburnt. AS for me, I would like to visit some really cultured place like Paris or Rome where there are a lot of historical sights and arts museums because I’m interested in history and arts.

I think travelling is exciting and develops a person. That is the end of my talk.

I’m going to give a talk about my school. Schooling period is an important part of everyone’s life because the knowledge we get during this period will stay with us for the lifelong time. I think school life is really exciting because at school I communicate with my peers, classmates, get a lot of information, improve my communicative skills, I really respect my friends, teachers, I like the environment here. I’m sure I will miss my school when I leave it. That is the end of my talk.

I also worry about the environmental problems in our region and on the Earth. I take part in ecological activities which are organized at our school. I never litter on streets, never cut down or break trees and other plants. That’s all I wanted to say about environmental problems.

I’m going to give a talk about films. Watching films has become one of the most popular pastimes. Teenagers enjoy watching films of various genres. They like watching horror films, detective dramas, comedies, soap operas, sitcoms, action films, documentaries, thrillers and cartoons.

As for me, I prefer watching films on the Internet because I can sit comfortably on the sofa, have some tea or coffee, chat with my friends while watching something on the Internet.

I have seen an amazing film recently. It was a war drama «Abiding by the war time law» (По законам военного времени) starring my favourite actress Yekaterina Klimova. The film tells about different investigations held by our intelligence officers during the Great Patriotic War.

In my opinion, watching films is a really exciting and beneficial way to spend one’s free time because you can both learn something new and enjoy yourself while watching an interesting film. That’s all I wanted to say about watching films.

I’d like to give a talk about school homework.

Doing school homework is a necessary part of my daily life because while doing some tasks and exercises, I revise the topic which was explained by the teacher, and learn something by heart. It usually takes me two or three hors to do my homework. Sometimes it can take me longer when I have to work on a project. I usually start doing my homework with Maths as it is the most difficult subject for me.

I think children should be given less homework because they are too overloaded and feel stressed. I usually do all the tasks and read all the texts we are given by our teachers.

I’d like to give a talk about TV. Nowadays there are a lot of ways to get amused and relaxed. One of them is watching TV.

People watch TV for different reasons. Some people want to be well-informed about latest political and economic issues, others prefer watching some entertaining programmes like talk shows, quizes, song contests. As for teenagers, they prefer browsing the Internet because it is the newest and most effective way of getting information and entertainment. There is a programme I really loke. It is called «Life of others». The first channel broadcasts this programme. It tells viewers about the economic situation and lifestyles of people from different countries.

On the whole, my attitude to watching TV as a way of spending one’s free time is neutral. It’s up to you to decide how you are going to spend your free time. That’s all I wanted to tel you about watching TV.

We have known each other for nine years. We first met in our school when we started our first school year.
