Это приложение есть у каждого третьего россиянина.
В 2021 году в России приложение Zenly скачали 51 млн раз. Такие данные приводит аналитическая платформа Apptopia. Приложение позволяет отслеживать местоположение друзей и то, чем они заняты.
Сейчас соцсеть Zenly – на четвертом месте по скачиваниям среди соцсетей в России. Обгоняют его только видеоплатформа Yappy, TikTok и «ВКонтакте». Такие данные приводит 42matters со ссылкой на статистику Google Play за период с 1 января по 25 апреля.

Откуда появилась соцсеть Zenly?
Компания Zenly была основана в Париже в 2014 году. Выпускники одной из бизнес-школ Антуан Мартин и Алексис Бонилло вдохновились популярными в то время приложениями Foursquare и Gowalla, сочетающими в себе соцсети и обмен данными о местоположении, и решили создать что-то свое.
Вскоре после запуска выяснилось, что приложение быстро расходует заряд устройства, и пользователи от него отказались. На решение проблемы потребовалось два года. В результате в App Store была выпущена версия приложения с низким потреблением энергии. Продукт имел успех. А в 2017 году сервис приобрела компания Snap, разработчик мессенджера Snapchat.
В связи с текущими событиями в 2022 году Snapchat прекратил рекламную деятельность в России, но остался на рынке. В том числе осталось и принадлежащее ему приложение Zenly.

В чем фишка Zenly?
Соцсеть запрашивает у пользователей геолокацию в режиме реального времени и позволяет делиться своим местоположением. На карте можно видеть, кто где находится в данный момент и чем занимается. У каждого пользователя стоит статус, показывающий, что он делает: учится, спит, ест или занимается чем-то еще. Можно отслеживать друзей, в том числе в режиме невидимки.
Также доступна история местонахождений. Друзьям можно отправлять смайлы и короткие сообщения. Можно отмечать основные моменты. Под «моментом» понимается локация, где вы отметились о своем местонахождении, а также люди, которые были там вместе с вами. «Моменты» доступны для просмотра 24 часа, после чего они исчезают. Просматривать их можно на карте, над кнопкой входящих сообщений, а можно просмотреть «моменты» конкретного друга, коснувшись его значка на карте.
Еще приложение считывает уровень заряда смартфона и демонстрирует его другим пользователям. Следовательно, если ваш телефон вдруг сядет, друзьям не придется гадать, куда вы пропали.
В соцсети есть развлекательные функции вроде Bump: если вы, сидя с друзьями, встряхнете телефонами при открытом приложении, оно отправит уведомление общим друзьям. Так они узнают, что вы проводите время вместе.

Это платно?
Однако соцсеть собирает и сохраняет данные о местоположении пользователей. Эти данные могут быть переданы третьим лицам, в том числе поставщикам услуг и партнерам Zenly.
По умолчанию информация хранится, пока учетная запись является активной. После удаления аккаунта большинство информации удаляется, а оставшаяся используется только для статистики. Если приложение не открывалось и не использовалось больше 12 месяцев, аккаунт автоматически удаляется.
Как зарегистрироваться?
Для создания учетной записи необходимо имя, дата рождения и номер телефона, на который придет смс с кодом. Сведения требуются для идентификации пользователя и подтверждения аккаунта. Пароль для регистрации не нужен.
На какую аудиторию нацелена соцсеть?
В 2016 году издание TechCrunch рассказывало, что приложение делает акцент на подростках, которые интересуются, где сейчас их друзья, чем занимаются, и нет ли рядом какой-то вечеринки.
К 2022 году целевая аудитория соцсети немного повзрослела. Как пишет Swave Digest со ссылкой на Антуана Мартина, сооснователя Zenly, это студенты. Чтобы угодить подросшей аудитории, разработчики решили провести редизайн приложения.
Как изменился Zenly в 2022?
«Это самый масштабный редизайн, который мы когда-либо делали. Мы превращаем Zenly в картографическое приложение», – цитирует Антуана Мартина, сооснователя Zenly, Swave Digest.
Теперь приложение перешло на темную тему, а основные кнопки выглядят как неоновые вывески.

Помимо смены дизайна, появилась возможность добавлять места, где вы были, и оставлять о них отзывы. Писать их анонимно нельзя. Так что теперь можно узнать, является ли кто-то из ваших друзей фанатом ресторана, который вы собираетесь посетить, или в это заведение лучше не заходить. Еще каждая карточка места содержит основную информацию о нем вроде адреса и номера телефона. А список мест обновляется при каждом новом нажатии клавиши.
Еще одна новая функция – «следы». Как и в видеоиграх, соцсеть показывает не только где вы были, но и где еще не были.
На каждой странице профиля появился новый раздел под названием «Мой мир» – общедоступная карта всех мест, где вы были. Он отображается в вашем профиле и виден всем пользователям Zenly, которые в него заходят. «Мой мир» становится доступен вскоре после регистрации в соцсети, обычно через 72 часа. Вы получите уведомление, когда это произойдет. Опцию можно отключить, но тогда вы не сможете просматривать миры других пользователей Zenly и сохранять на карте свои любимые места.
После обновления отзывы российских пользователей в основном отрицательные. Чаще всего не нравится то, что стало не видно, сколько людей и сколько раз просмотрели ваше местоположение, и что поменялся интерфейс.
Почему надо быть осторожным?
Функция геолокации потенциально опасна, так как ей могут пользоваться киберпреступники.
Заместитель руководителя Лаборатории компьютерной криминалистики и исследования вредоносного кода Group-IB Роман Резвухин рассказал «Газета.ru», что из-за этой функции «надо очень аккуратно относиться к тому, кого добавляешь в друзья». По его мнению, мошенники могут воспользоваться тем, что человек находится на отдыхе и, к примеру, выдумать историю с блокировкой банковской карты. Популярность Zenly может также привести к более широкому распространению фишинговых приложений и сайтов, похищающих логины и пароли или распространяющих вредоносное ПО.
Однако пока возможные риски не останавливают пользователей приложения. Справедливости ради, громких скандалов, связанных с Zenly, пока что не было.
