It goes without saying that doing sports is very important for every person. A certain amount of exercise is necessary to keep your body in good shape. Sport is given a lot of attention all over the world as it helps to bring up strong and healthy people. It creates, so to speak, a healthy body for a healthy mind. It also makes people more self-organized and better disciple.
There is always a kind of sport which will suit you and there are many different kinds to choose from. If you like team games, you can play football, volleyball, ice-hockey, field-hockey or basketball. Games to play with a friend include badminton, riding, horse riding or athletics.
At present sport in our country is paid a lot of attention to by the government and much is being done to set up all necessary facilities for its development. Many skating rinks, stadiums are built for people to go in for sports. Our country has held the 2014 Ice Hockey Championship in Minsk. The symbol of this event became a Belarusian bison- named Volat. A lot of people came to our country to attend this championship. Though, our national team didn’t win, it was a great attraction. I am proud that my country and its government do a lot to make their nation fit and healthy.
Smoking is one of the 20 th century maladies. It is now banned in many places so, that other people don’t have to breathe in smoke choking tobacco smoke.
Passive smoking can damage your health just like smoking can. Smoking becomes addictive very quickly, and it’s one of the hardest habits to break.
Smoking leads to chronic bronchitis, emphysema, it increase your blood pressure and pulse rate. This can contribute to heart disease.
I believe that health is better than wealth. In order to be healthy we should avoid bad habits that can affect our health, I mean smoking, drinking alcohol and eating junk food. We should eat more fresh vegetables and fruit, foods which are high in fiber and vitamins A, B, C and E (such as cabbage, carrot, tomatoes, cherries, apricots and so on).
It’s also very good to have some regular exercises. Swimming is the best way to keep fit.
Regular sleeping habit is also important. We need to sleep from 7 to 9 hours a day.
We should take care of health, because health one lost is lost forever.
Oh, if I had such an opportunity it would be a complex health centre with a swimming-pool, spa-center, gym and a café with healthy food. There would be special rooms for children where parents can leave them and special coaches will do exercises with them or just entertain them. People would listen to relaxing music while training.

Говорение на ОГЭ (Задание 2)
Продолжаем проливать свет на новый формат устной части ОГЭ.
Диалог-расспрос
Во втором задании устной части нового формата ученику предлагается принять участие в телефонном опросе, где у него есть 40 секунд, чтобы ответить на каждый из 6 вопросов.
Вопросы ранжируются от обманчиво простых – How old are you? (обманчиво, потому что некоторые особо умелые умудряются ляпнуть что-то вроде I’m forty или I have fourteen years) до сложных – What would you advise a person who wants to keep fit? За правильный ответ на один вопрос дается 1 балл, при условии, что ответ соответствует вопросу, он не краткий (это не одно слово и не словосочетание) и не содержит ошибки, которые препятствуют его пониманию.
То есть за все правильно сделанное задание можно получить 6 баллов.
Как к нему готовиться?
Я бы советовала не только прорешивать такие варианты заданий, но и зазубрить несколько клише, которые помогут оформить речь при ответе на заковыристые вопросы:
А также при ответе внимательно слушать вопрос и повторять слова и структуру, чтобы не запутаться в грамматике.
Ну и будет просто волшебно, если ученик вспомнит какие-то тематические слова и выражения, поэтому их желательно подучить (в кодификаторе есть список тем, которые должен знать 9-классник).
А также постоянно напоминать ему, что нельзя отвечать односложно и начинать предложение со слова because, а также обращать внимание, что в одном вопросе может содержаться два вопросительных слова, и отвечать в этом случае нужно на оба вопроса (как в вопросе 2 в примере ниже).

В задании подчеркнуты вопросительные слова, повторяющиеся почти во всех заданиях этого типа.

Как видите, все ответы повторяют слова вопроса, чтобы ученику было легче не запутаться в грамматике при ответе на вопрос. Также в ответах присутствуют клише I would advise, Personally I think, и тематические выражения to take up a hobby, to start a hobby, I’m interested in.
На самом деле, задание совсем не сложное, и при грамотной тренировке можно его делать практически без ошибок уже через 2 занятия.

А сейчас займемся согласными звуками и их чтением в английском языке (про гласные уже было тут).

Healthy Way of Life, Sport
1. Let’s talk about sport and a healthy way of life. What do you do to keep fit? Nowadays people have to work more and they prefer to rest more actively. It’s important to be in good shape and to stay healthy and attractive. To my mind, physical exercises are essential for everyone. If you want to be strong physically and mentally, you can go to a fitness club, a sauna or a swimming pool. Physical exercises strengthen the immune system, improve mental health and help prevent different diseases and obesity. Exercising is also the best remedy for insomnia, depression and stress.
If you don’t have an opportunity to go to a fitness club, you can just exercise at home. You can also do your morning exercises, jog, swim in summer, ski or skate in winter, play different sports games such as tennis, football, volleyball, basketball and so on. At least you can dance and jump about your room to music for 10-15 minutes each day. To conclude, if you want to be slim and strong, you must leave your comfortable armchair and exercise. It is not enough to watch other people doing sports. Only regular exercises will help you make your life longer and healthier.
2. Do you agree that bad habits, like smoking, can be dangerous for us? Why? Smoking is the best way to bad health. Smoking is considered to be a long time suicide: one out of ten men in the world is a smoker and every 8 seconds someone dies because of this habit. Cigarette smoke contains over 4000 chemicals, harmful for our health. More than 40 diseases are associated with smoking: cancer, bronchitis, heart diseases. The immune system of an active smoker is so bad that they take more time to recover from any disease.
3. What questions will you ask a professional sportsman? (Ask 3 questions.)
1) Was it difficult to become a professional sportsman?
2) Do you have to train a lot?
3) What international competitions have you taken part in?
4. What can you advise a person who wants to lose weight? In chase of health and beauty a lot of people follow different weight-loss diets. But they often forget about the consequences. Personally I think, the best way to lose weight is to exercise. Physical exercises help you to be in good shape and to stay healthy and attractive. Running and swift walking help to burn calories. Besides, you should avoid fast, fried and fatty food. If you want to lose weight and to preserve health, it’s better to begin with smaller portions of food and some substitutions. For example, you can replace a cup of tea and a cake with a glass of juice. It is great to be slim, but never forget that «health is the best wealth».
5. What is the best way to promote a healthy way of life among young people?
I think, that the following measures should be taken: our government should increase school’s health education curricula, create more recreational programmes or events that promote healthy living. Physical education classes must be an essential part of this health programme. Besides, parental involvement should be encouraged. Mass Media is also an important factor of promoting a healthy way of life.
Mass Media
1. Let’s talk about mass media: TV, newspapers, radio. Radio and TV, newspapers and magazines are mass media which keep people informed on the topical issues of the day. Both on radio and TV you can listen to a programme on sports, art, news, music and weather. Besides, there are a lot of entertaining programmes on TV, a lot of feature, documentary films which provoke hot discussions. Radio is preferable to TV when you are at work and need information or have to focus your attention on something else. For example, when you drive a car, it’s better to listen to radio than to watch TV.
But both radio and TV play an important role in our life as well as newspapers. Every day millions of newspapers and magazines are published all over the world. There are different national and local papers, dailies and weeklies. They satisfy different interests and tastes. People subscribe to various papers and magazines, but they have one common aim. They inform the readers of the current events, home and international affairs, carry commentaries on the most interesting facts, make readers acquainted with different opinions on various problems. There are also articles on sports, art, music, new books. There are interviews with well-known people and celebrities. Everything printed corresponds to people’s interests.
2. Is there any means of communication you can’t live without? Why (not)? Nowadays we can’t do without such gadgets as mobile phones and Personal Computers. In my opinion, they facilitate our lives and save our time. By means of mobile phones we can access people we need to speak to and we can never miss anything important. Personally, I can’t do without my computer as it helps me study. For example, it helps me prepare reports and create beautiful presentations. Besides, the computer is a great source of entertainment. I often play computer games, watch films or listen to music and chat with my friends.

Let’s talk about a healthy way of life. What can you do to be healthy?
Everybody wants to live a long healthy life. Nowadays a healthy body becomes a fashion, an ideal of modern life. There are many ways to keep fit. For example, healthy food is a very important factor. Overeating causes many dangerous diseases. We shouldn’t snack and we should have breakfast. We should eat low-fat food, more fruit and vegetables, meat, milk products, which are rich in vitamins and proteins. We shouldn’t eat at night. If you keep to a diet, you must do it carefully, because sometimes diets may be harmful. Besides, to be healthy, a person must stop smoking and drinking much. Besides, nowadays there is a problem of taking drugs, especially among young people. It causes many diseases and leads to death. Everyone should remember that cigarettes, alcohol and drugs destroy our body and brain. And the best way to be healthy is to go in for sports. Sport is very important in our life. Many people do morning exercises and train themselves in different sections and take part in sport competitions. To keep fit, it is very useful to walk a lot, to play active games, to spend a lot of time outdoors in the fresh air.
As for me, I like to go in for sports very much. I am good at swimming. I visit a swimming-pool 3 times a week.
2. Do you agree that smoking is an unhealthy habit? Why (not)? Of course, I agree. Smoking is harmful for all people and especially for children. It’s known from statistics that smoking kills 2,5 million people a year. Also smoking may cause heart diseases and spoil your teeth and skin. So it is better not to begin smoking because in future you will have to make a lot of efforts so as to get rid of this bad habit.
3. What questions will you ask a person who keeps to a slimming diet? What do you need to eat? How often are you going to visit a fitness club? Will aerobics and yoga be helpful to lose weight?
4. What can you advise a person who wants to lose weight? I can advise not to follow someone’s advice from your friends or mates but to have regular exercises and to move as much as possible, to eat more fruit and vegetables and reject junk food, to eat in small portions at regular hours and be positive in your attitude towards your appearance. I think people should love themselves and take care of their souls and bodies.
5. What is the best way to promote a healthy way of life among young people? Why is it important to stay healthy? There are many ways of keeping fit. Firstly, you could visit health and fitness clubs. A lot of health and fitness clubs, public leisure centres, huge indoor water parks are very popular among people of all ages. Secondly, regular exercise is necessary. People of different ages can choose or design exercises that will fit them. Some people do aerobics or yoga; others prefer weight training in a gym. Doing some sport or other on a regular basis is the best way of keeping fit.

1. Let’s talk about sport. Whatistherole of sport in your life?Sport is an important part of every person’s life. It helps people to keep fit, healthy and slim. Sport is also very competitive. When it first appeared in the world people started thinking of different contests. The Olympic Games, which take place every four years, are a good example of competition. It’s a great occasion, where sportsmen from all over the world can show their talents. I’m a great fan of these games. If I only had a chance, I would happily participate in such competition, or at least I would like to be the spectator at these games. My favourite sport is figure-skating. I try not to miss the beautiful shows of this sport on TV. I’m also quite good at ice-skating but I’m not as professional as most of the girls on the ice-rink. Other sports that I do and enjoy are swimming and tennis in summer and skiing in winter. Speaking about everyday trainings I always try to do my morning exercises and sometimes if my friend is up to it we go jogging. It helps us to be fit and provides with energy for the rest of the day.

What can you advise a person who doesn’t know what kind of sport to take up?Firstofall I would recommend deciding several things like whether he or she wants to take it up professionally or not, outdoors or indoors, team or individual. Then it will be very useful to visit some sports clubs, talk to people who go in for sport for some years. Then it will be time to make decisions.
5. What are your sport preferences? As for me, I prefer swimming in summer and figure-skating in winter, because these two kinds of sport are very popular in our country and very interesting.

1. Let’s talk about fashion. What role does it play in your life?Fashion is something we deal with everyday.
Even people who say they don’t care what they wear choose clothes every morning that say a lot about them and how they feel that day.
One certain thing in the fashion world is change.
We are constantly being bombarded with new fashion ideas from music, videos, books, and television.
Movies also have a big impact on what people wear. Ray-Ban sold more sunglasses after the movie Men In Black.
Sometimes a trend is world-wide. Back in the 1950s, teenagers everywhere dressed like Elvis Presley.
Fashion is revealing. Clothes reveal what groups people are in.
In high school, groups have names: «goths, skaters.»
Styles show who you are, but they also create stereotypes and distance between groups.
For instance, a businessman might look at a boy with green hair and multiple piercings as a freak and outsider.
Fashion is big business.
More people are involved in the buying, selling and production of clothing than any other business in the world.
As for me, I don’t pay too much attention to fashion.
I believe that it is more important to create your own style.
I prefer to wear classic pieces that are comfortable and complement my personality, while at home my outfit is definitely more casual.
2. Do you follow the latest fashion trends? Why (not)? Of course, I try to follow it, but it’s usually rather difficult to buy fashionable clothes in our small town, so I need to go to Minsk to buy something.
3. What questions would you ask a fashion designer? What is the difference between fashion and style? What is your favourite trend? What colour is in fashion this season? Is it really important to look stylish?
4. What would you advise a person who wants to be fashionable? You, should read fashion magazines, watch TVprogrammes about fashion and follow the latest fashion trends.
5. They say that young people pay a lot of attention to their style and want to be fashionable. What do you think about it? Some of them have very little free time to pay a lot of attention to fashion, but those who have, they try to be stylish, to buy and wear trendous clothes every day and for every situation. I am not against of such their behavior and desire to be fashionable.
