Be glad it is only 7 days. Not too long ago at all it was 30 days.
No Purchase Older Than 7 Days
Your account must have a successful purchase older than 7 days, but not older than a year in order to access the Community Market. The purchase of wallet funds, games, DLCs and software meet this requirement. Activating a Steam Wallet Code or Gift Card on your account to add funds to your Steam Wallet also meet this requirement. Retail CD key activation and gift purchases do not satisfy this requirement.
Any purchase that is charged back on your account will reset this restriction. Only purchases after the most recent chargeback will be considered for purposes of this restriction.

you just need to buy some game from the steam store, find the cheapest ones if you dont intend to buy any other.. there is some stuff that goes for like 0.30, 0,50$.
I had the same problem and bought a game for 0.39 and it worked after that.

The rule is that you have to buy SOMETHING on the Steam Store at least once a year.
If you dont you lose your access to the community market.
Just buy a cheap game, can be 50 cent, then wait 7 days.
After that you can use the market again for one year.
Topping up your wallet also counts.
So I am required to buy a game? can’t I just wait it out?
Topping up your wallet also counts.
So if top up my money I can buy again
I don’t I understand I bought things a long time ago and when for like 3-4 years

i think that is prevent someone using stealed credit cards to make a purchase on steam so thay put 7 day to confirm it.
It’s to prevent brand new, or old and inactive accounts from being used on the market to commit malicious activity.
An account is deemed active if it has some established purchase history (no more than a year old) either with external funds added or a purchase from the store using a verified payment method.

It works quite well. How many dozens of bogus friend requests have you received this week? Some people were even getting 50 or more per day before it was introduced.
5 dollars is the minimum you can add to your wallet so I don’t see how it’s separate from the market restriction at all.
And I get the same amount of randos inviting me that I always did, few, because my inventory isn’t that valuable. I’ve never had a security issue on steam because I’m not an idiot who doesn’t know how to keep their account safe. The biggest issues I’ve ever had with steam have all been support issues, and this is just another log into that fire.
Purchase a cheap game for 0.49 using your wallet and an external payment method together. Wait 7 days.
It’s still «pay us more money to use the market», which is garbage and defeats the purpose of me using the market in the first place.
This should be an issue resolvable by support.
They don’t need me to pay more to verify that my account is ‘valid’ or ‘trusted’. It doesn’t prove anything.
Its resolvable by you
by making a purchase on steam
They don’t need me to pay more to verify that my account is ‘valid’ or ‘trusted’. It doesn’t prove anything.
It’s not to prove something. It’s a deterrent from hackers/phishers/etc stumbling across old accounts that once upon a time had the restrictions lifted but were abandoned and now they have a free account with no restrictions.
With the restrictions, an old account is just as useful for scamming as a new account, but significantly harder to gain access to. This means less hassle if the account owner returns and wants their abandoned account back.
So you’re telling me I don’t deserve to be able to zero my wallet with a 12 cents market purchase.
Why is it so important to you that you zero your Wallet?
I just want to. It’s incredibly annoying to me to have 12 cents sitting there, which I should be able to spend. I want it out of my wallet so that it doesn’t become a persuading factor in adding more, plus I just wanted to buy myself a tf2 item since I was about to pick it back up. It’s enough that valve holds all the money, that 12 cents isn’t even real and I deserve to be able to spend it on another players item for sale, contributing to the market cycle.
I was going to buy a description tag and probably make a stupid description on something, as you do in tf2.
It’s not to prove something. It’s a deterrent from hackers/phishers/etc stumbling across old accounts that once upon a time had the restrictions lifted but were abandoned and now they have a free account with no restrictions.
Well it’s doing a better job of deterring me than the randos that keep adding me. And why would a bad actors account ever have its restrictions lifted? Don’t VAC bans and stuff stay on your account permanently? If they don’t, valve is even dumber than I though, and it’s their own failing that’s creating a garbage system.
I’m joking myself now, it’s their own failing that created the garbage system already.
