The ladies of Sex and the City are (mostly) back. HBO Max‘s revival series And Just Like That premiered on December 9, catching up with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigate New York City life in their 50s.

And Just Like That‘s splashy premiere may already have you wondering: Will And Just Like That have a Season 2? Or is it a limited series? Here’s everything we know so far:

HOW MANY EPISODES OF AND JUST LIKE THAT ARE THERE?

And Just Like That will have 10 episodes, each of which premieres Thursdays at 3:01 a.m. ET/12:01 a.m. PT. Here’s the release schedule:

HOW ARE THE AND JUST LIKE THAT REVIEWS?

So-so. Decider’s Jade Bukowski writes in her review, “While a lot of And Just Like That is totally cringe-inducing, unfunny, and surprisingly dark, fans will likely enjoy reuniting with these characters as they try to navigate the world once more.”

Viewers seemed similarly mixed. As of writing, 42% of folks gave And Just Like That a “Stream it!” via Decider’s Twitter account.

WILL AND JUST LIKE THAT HAVE A SEASON 2?

We don’t know yet! Viewers will have to see whether the show seems to tie everything up by the end of Season 1. In a recent interview with Vulture, HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys added that the future of And Just Like That depends on its stars’ interest and availability.

“I have no idea. [Parker, Nixon, and Davis] kind of came together to do this,” Bloys said. “They were all really busy and doing other things. So this is certainly a conversation we’ll have — for sure… I’m going to leave it up to these guys to figure out what they want to do.”

WHEN COULD AND JUST LIKE THAT SEASON 2 ARRIVE ON HBO MAX?

Let’s say And Just Like That gets renewed for Season 2. In that case, filming will likely coincide with Parker, Nixon, and Davis’ availability. The first season began filming in June, 2021 and premiered in December, so if Season 2 sticks with a similar 10-episode format, it will presumably arrive around six months or so after filming begins. Given that, the earliest Season 2 could likely premiere is later in 2022.

‘And Just Like That’: Michael Patrick King & Writers On Mr. Big Edits, Absentee Aidan, Stanford’s Future & More

Added Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content at HBO Max, “We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much. We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season 2!”

The series also faced challenges after actor Chris Noth was accused by multiple women of sexual assault. Noth has repeatedly denied all charges.

His character Mr. Big, husband of protagonist Carrie Bradshaw (Parker) was killed off in the premiere episode prior to the allegations. He was due to make a surprise appearance in the season finale shot in Paris but a decision was made to have him edited out.

There was also the heartbreaking and shocking death of Willie Garson on September 21 while the show was in production. Garson, who died from pancreatic cancer at the age of 57, shot multiple episodes of Season 1. Garson kept his illness a secret from all but Parker.

King told Deadline they have no plans to kill off his character Stanford Blatch, who was written off in episode 4 as going off to Japan following his famous social media client who is going on tour. It was also revealed he asked his husband Anthony (Mario Cantone) for a divorce.

“We have no interest or plans in killing Stanford. None,” King told Deadline in February.

He added regarding whether Stanny could be in Japan indefinitely, “Maybe. People change. People live in different places. It’s not something we’ve even discussed at this point because it’s so sad. We had 10 full, authentic, hilarious episodes for Stanford. Those just went away and there’s nothing really juicy about a real death, fictional death you can build around. Everybody knows Willie is gone, so there’s no real trick that we would try to pull to make that non-reality. We can’t bring Willie back so I don’t think we would even attempt to bring Stanford back because that’s a lot.”

There were also the looming questions about whether franchise star Kim Cattrall would make a surprise return after she chose not to reprise the role of PR maven Samantha Jones in And Just Like That… Spoiler Alert: She does not but Samantha’s spirit is felt throughout the season via text messages she shares with Carrie.

For now, it’s clear Cattrall has no plans to return and has since moved on with roles in Hulu’s How I Met Your Father and Peacock’s Queer as Folk.

Season 1 cast also includes Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, Sara Ramirez, David Eigenberg, and Evan Handler.

The freshman season was executive produced by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Julie Rottenberg, Elisa Zuritsky, John Melfi, and Michael Patrick King. Нравится сюжетная линия с проживанием смерти мужа. Возможно, единственная линия, действительно интересная в этом сериале. Как Кэрри пытается жить дальше, пережить своё горе. Сцена с кольцами грустная(

Про Шарлотт и линию с тампоном дочери даже комментировать не хочется. Ее хочется развидеть 😂

Если в теории представить, что она одумается и вернётся к нему (уверена, что нет), неужели он ее принял бы после всего, что она устроила?

Пока этот сериал ломает все ожидания ))) Было ожидание, что Эйдана впихнут Керри под соусом умершей (от рака, в автокатастрофе) жены, чтобы она утешилась. Было ожидание, что Че прокатит Миранду, следуя линии открытости и полиамории.
Но сценаристы реально хитрее. )))

Линия с Шарлоттой и тампоном не показалась тошнотной, а показалась слишком натянутой. Ну не верю я, что в современном мире Лили испытала такие огромные трудности с этим приспособлением. Да и все ее реакции были, мягко скажем, too much. Я бы точно не могла сохранять такое ангельское спокойствие на месте Шарлотты.

Стива и правда очень жалко. Но когда мне его жалко, я вспоминаю их с Мирандой разговор из прошлой серии и как он говорит: Но мы ведь и есть старые, Миранда.
Но ведь они не старые! Почему он так себя похоронил?

На примере Миранды очень круто показано, что новое поколение отрицает эти тупые схемы с ролями, техниками ближе-дальше и обесцениванием. То есть все то, на чем строились отношения в старом СВБГ ))

Но и без этих хитовых проектов зрителей ждет масса интересного: постапокалиптическая драма про пандемию, документалка о мире кино от Дэвида Финчера, шоу с путешествующим по планете Уиллом Смитом и многое другое. Главные сериалы декабря — в ежемесячной подборке «Ленты.ру».

«И просто так» / And Just Like That…

Один из самых ожидаемых ревайвалов даже не года, а целого десятилетия — «И просто так» — станет продолжением легендарного сериала «Секс в большом городе» и двух последовавших за шоу полнометражных фильмов. В сиквеле появятся три героини оригинала, Кэрри Брэдшоу, Миранда Хоббс и Шарлотта Йорк, в исполнении Сары Джессики Паркер, Синтии Никсон и Кристин Дэвис. Саманта Джонс в исполнении Ким Кэттролл в шоу не появится. «4лен» (или «Пен15») — одна из самых трогательных и смешных подростковых комедий последних лет, в которой этих самых подростков играют взрослые Анна Конкл и Майя Эрскин. Казалось бы, сериал не сможет целый сезон выезжать на том, что взрослые женщины ведут себя, как малолетние школьницы, но Конкл и Эрскин удалось не просто уморительно шутить на протяжении всех эпизодов — концепция шоу наталкивает на довольно серьезные мысли о том, как сильно глупости, происходящие с нами в детстве, влияют на формирование личности и остаются с нами на всю жизнь. Героини открывают для себя мастурбацию, пускают слюни по одноклассникам (которых, к слову, играют дети), переживают гормональные всплески и половое созревание в ностальгических декорациях 2000-х годов. В новой порции эпизодов героини играют уже не детей, а подростков.

Второй (и последний) сезон был разделен на две части по семь эпизодов, премьера первой состоялась в сентябре, а новая выйдет на Hulu 4 декабря

«Ведьмак» / The Witcher

Это шоу явно в представлении не нуждается — вышедший в 2019-м первый сезон «Ведьмака» по фэнтезийным книгам польского писателя Анджея Сапковского в момент стал хитом Netflix (а песня «Ведьмаку заплатите чеканной монетой» — чуть ли не шлягером). Впрочем, главным предметом дискуссий в России с релизом дебютного сезона стали чернокожие эльфы и дриады в шоу, а также то, подходит ли Супермен Генри Кавилл на роль мрачного Геральта из Ривии. Споры эти затмили для многих как достоинства, так и реальные недостатки сериала. Что ж, надеемся, что во втором сезоне шоураннерка Лорен Хиссрич наконец представит нам ту самую замену «Игре престолов», которую так сильно жаждет заполучить каждый зарубежный стриминговый сервис.

Второй сезон «Ведьмака» будет состоять из восьми эпизодов, все они выйдут 17 декабря на Netflix

«Станция одиннадцать» / Station Eleven

По сюжету «Станции одиннадцать», человечество практически вымерло от смертельного гриппа — сериал можно назвать зловещим предзнаменованием, учитывая, что за его создание взялись буквально за полгода до разразившейся на планете пандемии коронавируса. Действие шоу разворачивается в нескольких временных промежутках (в том числе и в начале эпидемии), но основная его часть происходит в период, когда мир уже пал от новой болезни. Шоураннером выступил Патрик Соммервиль («Оставленные»), а режиссерами стали Хиро Мурай («Атланта»), Хелен Шейвер («Викинги») и Джереми Подесва («Игра престолов»). Сериал основан на одноименном романе канадской писательницы Эмили Сент-Джон Мандел.

«Бумажный дом» / La casa de papel (Money Heist)

Едва ли в каком еще сериале Netflix просыпали больше гильз, чем в «Бумажном доме», экспорте из Испании. Остросюжетный сериал рассказывает о шайке благородных разбойников, которые ставят всю страну на уши дерзкими ограблениями. Финальный сезон хитового остросюжетного триллера «Бумажный дом» уже в трейлере демонстрирует все, за что испанский сериал так полюбился публике по всему миру — ограбления и предательства, сокровища и взрывы, заложники и, конечно же, легендарные красные балахоны.

Первая половина финального сезона вышла еще в сентябре, а теперь фанатов шоу ждет долгожданная концовка из пяти серий. Все они выйдут на Netflix уже 3 декабря

«Корпорация «Санта»» / Santa Inc

Санта-Клаус — не только добродушный дед с бородой и подарками, но и узнаваемый во всем мире бренд мегакорпорации. В этой компании работает эльфийка Кэнди, которая хочет от жизни большего, а потому пытается пробиться в высшие эшелоны фирмы, став ни много ни мало следующим Сантой. Главные роли в шоу озвучили Сет Роген и Сара Сильверман.

«Пространство» / The Expanse

Длящийся аж с 2015 года научно-фантастический сериал «Пространство» заслуженно получил звание «»Игры престолов» в космосе» из-за масштабных боев, многочисленных персонажей и фракций, а также детально изображенных геополитических конфликтов. Эпическая сага наконец приблизилась к финалу — шестой сезон станет последним. «Пространство» основано на одноименной научно-фантастической саге Джеймса Кори (под псевдонимом скрываются Даниэль Абрахам и Тай Френк), а создателями сериала выступили Марк Фергус и Хоук Остби (сценаристы фильмов «Дитя человеческое» и «Железный человек»).

How long are Carrie and the gang staying around for?

Don’t put away your Manolos just yet girls! Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte aren’t done with you just yet, with Sex and the City reboot/spin-off And Just Like That confirmed to return for more.

The series, which touches base with three of the four beloved characters as they continue to navigate life in 2021, became a must-watch for all SATC fans (though if it was a delightful catch-up with old friends or a hate watch depends on who you ask).

If you thought they were wild in their 30s, you definitely haven’t acquainted yourself with them in their 50s.

While Samantha was «stuck in London» missing all the ‘fun’, the girls have endured a heartbreaking death, relationship upheaval, exploration of sexuality and new friendships.

So we couldn’t help wonder. what’s in store next for our New York gal pals?

And Just Like That season 2 potential release date: When’s it back?

Season two was officially given the go-ahead in March 2022.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Sarah Jessica Parker thanked the fans for their loyalty with the Sex and the City spin-off.

Alongside a photo of the cast, she wrote: «Season 2. Thank you to our audience. Plain and simple. You are our heartbeat. We love you so.»

It shouldn’t be a major surprise that this was the result, with Sarah telling Variety in February hat discussions were already being had.

«Definitely, yeah. Michael [Patrick King, creator] and I spoke two weeks ago, and said: ‘OK, when are we going to talk about this? Because there’s a calendar and you don’t want to let too much time pass. [It] feels like there’s momentum,» she said.

As of July 2022, there’s been no update on the progress of the series, but it’s believed that it has been written and will likely commence filming soon.

With that in mind, it’s likely to have a similar release window of December 2022, or even January 2023.

And Just Like That season 2 cast: Will everyone be back for it?

When And Just Like That does return, obviously the Big Three are back – Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda and Kristin Davis as Charlotte. After all, what would the show be without them?

However, as much as we can keep our fingers, toes and everything in between crossed, it’s virtually an impossibility that Kim Cattrall will ever show up as Samantha – with a long-held feud between her and her cast mates (particularly Sarah) running too deep for too long.

When asked if the door was open for her return and would Kim ever come back executive producer Michael Patrick King said (via Variety) said :

«No. Just like there was no thought that Kim would ever participate in And Just Like That because she’s said what she had said.»

He added: «The only place I participate in magical thinking is in fiction. You take people at their word, and you’re a smart producer – you don’t back yourself into a corner. Magically thinking, it’s great to have Samantha. I have no realistic expectation of Kim Cattrall ever appearing again.»

In an interview with Variety in March, Kim confirmed she had no intention of ever returning to the series, and didn’t appreciate the direction they’d taken her beloved character. She added: » I’ve come to the conclusion that really the greatest compliment I could have as an actor is to be missed.»

Elsewhere in the show, we did at least get some new ladies to join the crew. Nicole Ari Parker, Sara Ramirez and Karen Pittman all became new additions to the central girls’ lives, and immediately made an impact on fans and the characters alike.

But it was Ramirez, who plays Che, Carrie’s podcast producer/co-host/stand-up comic and Miranda’s new lover, who really made an impact. Fans united in their love of hating her, but somehow she’s gone full circle into a character they love (to hate) to have around. She’s been criticised for the brash personality and somewhat clichéd representation of a non-binary person, but you have to admit it. Twitter would’ve been a lot less interesting a place without her.

In June 2022, it was confirmed that Che would be back on our screens once again for season two as Miranda continues her path of self-discovery.

«One of my burning passions about season 2 is Che,» Michael Patrick King told Variety. «I want to show the dimension of Che that people didn’t see, for whatever reason, because they were blinded, out of fear or terror. I want to show more of Che rather than less of Che. Like, really.»

Ramirez also spoke about their character, saying they love that Che is «complicated and messy and human».

«Che is a great reminder that even when we don’t like someone in our community, they still deserve love, safety and joy like everyone else,» they continued.

«But the movement for liberation includes everyone, even people we don’t like. This movement, this fight, this party of pride, isn’t just for the people who make us feel cozy and cute – it’s for everyone.»

Pittman plays Dr Nya Wallace, a law-school professor who leaves Miranda racially tongue-tied, and Parker plays Lisa Todd Wexley, an uber-wealthy mother of three.

Unfortunately, season one marked the final appearance of Willie Garson as Carrie’s gay BFF, Stanford Blatch. Just two weeks after filming his scenes for the show, Garson died after developing pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

And Just Like That season 2 plot: What’s going to happen?

The show has somewhat shifted though, to the leading three women at a new stage of their lives, beyond dating (well, maybe a little bit of dating).

Carrie is also trying to navigate the single life once again after the unexpected loss of Big. Miranda has also re-entered the relationship market with a new boo in tow. Whether Che and Miranda’s romance will make it through the lull between seasons one and two is anyone’s guess, but either way you know it’s going to be dramatic.

After all, this mother has fled to the other side of the country and left her husband for Che. what could possibly go wrong?

While Carrie and Miranda’s worlds have received a bit of shakeup, Charlotte’s has remained pretty calm. Daughter Rose may have become the gender-non-specific Rock (no labels please – not girl, not boy, not non-binary, not Jewish, not even a New Yorker – they’ve been very clear) however Charlotte’s only concern has remained the welfare of her child. It’s possible a subsequent season could throw something unexpected and life-altering her way.
