A computer system is an electronic system consists of many parts works together to make the computer work. Computers work mainly to perform a specific task given by the user.

Input unit

An input unit consists of input devices such as keyboard, mouse, scanner, and joystick. Input devices are used to send data to the computer.

An input device accepts the instructions and data from the user and converts it into the form, which is understandable to the computer. The converted data is send to the CPU (Central Processing Unit) for further processing. The various input devices include:

Keyboard

The name itself suggests that it is a board consists of arrangement of keys. It is the main input device for most of the computers.

Keyboard is an input device used mainly for entering symbols like letters and numbers into a computer. Input is entered into the computer by pressing buttons or keys.

Generally, it is used for typing text and numbers on ms word, note pad, and other programs. Keyboards are also used for playing games.

A keyboard consists of several keys on which alphabets, numbers, and some other symbols are printed. To enter any text into the computer we press alphabetic keys whereas to enter numbers into the computer we press numeric keys. Most of the keyboards are generally attached to a computer via USB port. The keys or buttons of the keyboard is made of plastic.

Like the keyboards on a typewriter, computer keyboards have keys for numbers and letters. However, computer keyboards also have special keys.

The function keys are found on the top of a computer keyboard. The function keys of a computer keyboard include F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, F9, F10, F11, F12. They perform different functions depending on where they are used. For example, Microsoft Windows users can use Alt+F4 to close the current program or shutdown the computer. F1 is used as the help key. When the user press F1 button a help screen is opened. Similarly, other function keys are also used for various purposes.

Computer mouse

A computer mouse is an input device used for selecting items, opening, and closing items, copying and deleting the items on the screen by controlling the movement of a cursor or pointer on the computer screen. It is also used for creating new folders and browsing internet.

The mouse turns the movement of the hand (left, right, forward, and backward) into equivalent electronic signals that in turn are used to move the pointer. When you move the mouse with your hand on a surface, a cursor or pointer on the computer screen also moves in the same direction. For example, if we move the mouse towards right side, the cursor on the computer screen also moves towards right side. In the similar way, if we move the mouse towards left side, the cursor on the computer screen also moves towards left side.

Generally, mouse has two buttons: a primary button (left button) and a secondary button (right button). Clicking on the left button opens files whereas right button is used for copying files, deleting files, and creating folders. In between the two buttons, a wheel is present. This wheel is used to scroll down or scroll up on the screen.

Scanner

Scanner is an input device used mainly for capturing the printed documents and uploading it into computer as digital images. These digital images are easily viewed and edited on computer. A scanner can be connected to a computer via USB or SCSI.

Joystick

Joystick is an input device used to control cursor or objects on computer games. Joysticks are also used for controlling the machines such as trucks, cranes, and surveillance cameras.

CPU (Central Processing Unit)

The CPU (Central Processing Unit) is considered as the brain of computer. A central processing unit is an electronic circuit that carries out the instructions of a computer program. It performs basic arithmetic, logical, control, and input/output operations. The user or human being writes a program to the computer. Computers do not have intelligence, so they could not perform any operations on their own. Hence, all the instructions to the computer are given by the user to perform specific task. CPU controls operations on all parts of the computer including main memory.

CPU is also sometimes referred as central processor, microprocessor, or simply processor. It is the most important part of a computer system. In all modern small computers, the CPU is placed on a single silicon chip. Hence, the size of CPU is reduced.

CPU consists of two main components:

Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU)

Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) is a digital electronic circuit that performs arithmetic and logical operations. In some computers, the Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) is divided in two parts: Arithmetic unit (AU) and Logic Unit (LU). The arithmetic unit performs the arithmetic operations and the logic unit performs the logical operations. The various arithmetic operations performed by the Arithmetic Unit (AU) include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Arithmetic unit performs these arithmetic operations at high speed. The various logical operations performed by the Logic Unit (LU) include NOT, AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR, XNOR, etc. The results of the ALU are stored in memory for further use. The results that are stored in the memory are passed to output devices.

Control Unit (CU)

The control unit controls all the operations of the computer. It tells the Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU), computers memory, input and output devices how to respond to the program instructions. It controls the flow of data between CPU and other devices.

The control unit efficiently manages the resources of the computer to reduce power consumption. It also checks the correctness of the sequence of operations. The devices, which requires control unit, include Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).

Output unit

An output unit consists of output devices such as monitor, printer, and speaker. The output devices display the result (which is obtained after processing the data) to the user in an understandable manner.

The various output devices include:

Monitor

Monitor is the electronic visual display for computers. It is the most important output device of a computer. Without monitor we cannot see what computer is doing or performing inside. Monitor is also sometimes referred as computer monitor or computer display. Computer monitors are of two types: CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitor and LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitor.

Printer

Printer is an output device used to print text, images, photos, or anything on a paper. The various types of printers include laser printer, 3D printer, Ink-jet printer, plotter, dot matrix printer, thermal printer, daisy wheel printer, line printer, etc. The printers print the text or objects on a paper either in black and white or colored form.

Speaker

The speaker is an output device that converts the electronic signals from the computer into audio signals. The user easily hears these audio signals and understands it. Sometimes headphones are also used for listening songs and music from a computer. The speakers are generally connected to a computer via cables. In some computers like laptops, the speakers are built-in.

Memory unit

Like the human brain, computers also store the information. Memory unit is used for storing digital data for future use. Computer memory stores the information temporarily or permanently.

Computer memory is mainly classified into two types:

Primary memory

The primary memory is used to hold pieces of program, data, and an instruction on which computer is currently working. It also stores the intermediate and final results of processing. After completing the processing, the obtained results are transmitted to the output device.

The primary memory stores the data only when the power is on. When there is no power the data stored in the primary memory will be lost. The primary memory is also sometimes referred as main memory, temporary memory or volatile memory. This memory works faster than secondary memory. RAM is an example of primary memory. The primary memory of modern computers is made of semiconductor devices.

Secondary memory

The secondary memory is also called as non-volatile memory or permanent memory. It works slower than the primary memory. However, it stores the data permanently.

Secondary memory stores the data even if the power is turned off. Secondary memory has high storage capacity than the primary memory.

The secondary memory stores operating system, text files, images, songs, videos, etc. The Central Processing Unit (CPU) does not read the information directly from the secondary memory. The information stored in the secondary memory is first transmitted to the primary memory. After that, the CPU reads the data from the primary memory. The secondary memory is much cheaper than the primary memory. Optical disks, magnetic disks, and magnetic tapes are examples of secondary memory.

As you might have already known, the projector is very similar to a monitor. The main difference is that it projects data onto a hard surface, while a monitor shows the information on a screen.

3] Processing or System Unit

If you’re using a desktop computer, then the System Unit would be the case that contains all the electronic hardware that is used to process data. The primary tool inside of the System Unit is the processor, the brain of your computer. Not only that, but it contains the memory unit, which is also known as the RAM (Random Access Memory). Furthermore, it is also the home of the motherboard, hard drive, cooling unit, and more.

4] Storage

5] Communications

A computer in today’s world is nothing without the ability to communicate with other devices or on the internet. With this ability, then, folks can send and receive data from mobile devices and other computers with ease.

They can even do so over the cloud. An example of this is the use of Windows 10 to send and retrieve Office files from a OneDrive cloud storage account.

The ability to communicate relies on internal hardware components such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi adapters. But also the USB ports for sending data from the computer to a mobile device, and HDMI for communicating with another screen.

Arithmetic and Logical Unit

Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)

It generally communicates directly with the monitor.

Random Access Memory (RAM)

RAM is the most commonly referred component in a computer. The RAM is also known as the volatile memory since it gets erased every time the computer restarts. Storage Unit

Data is transferred to ALU from storage unit when required. Whenever calculations are required, the control unit transfers the data from storage unit to ALU once the computations are done, the results are transferred to the storage unit by the control unit and then it is send to the output unit for displaying results.

iii) Main Memory unit ( M M U) : The main memory unit is used for storage of the copy of the main software program that controls the general operation of the computer.

ii) Minicomputers:
It is multi-user computer which is capable of supporting from 10 to 100 of users simultaneously.In terms of size and processing capacity, minicomputers lie in between mainframes and microcomputers. Its lie in between mainframes and microcomputer in terms of size and processing capacity. its also called mid-range systems or workstations.

iii) Super Mini Computer
These are 32 bit word length machines and support memory sizes in the range 1 M byte to 8 M bytes. The CPU speeds is nearly 2 million instructions per second. A wide range of fast peripherals are supported by these machines. Its application area is research and development, process control bigger commercial organisation.

iv) Mainframe Computers:
It is powerful multi-user computer which is capable of supporting 100 to 1000 or more of users simultaneously. Mainframe computer are used by large organization for processing bulk data and ERP or highly critical application.

v) Supercomputers:
An extremely fast computer that can perform hundreds of millions of instructions per second, it is basically used by scientist or researchers.
Its has parallel processing and well-designed memory hierarchy and large transaction processing powers its used for study of Quantum physics, mechanics, weather forecasting, molecular theory.

Generation of computer

There are five generation of computer each generation is separated by technology used by them (hardware and software).

What is a computer?

A computer is any machine that can be programmed to carry out a set of algorithms and arithmetic instructions.

Of course, the computers we think of today are so much more than that—and I’m talking beyond just being machines used to play games and watch videos of cats on the internet!

5 parts of a computer

Whether it’s a gaming system or a home PC, the five main components that make up a typical, present-day computer include:

In terms of construction, each of these main components are attached to the motherboard and then put into a protective case—resembling the clean, polished look most of us are accustomed to seeing.

Important: A quick note before we dive into the details—I’m listing and talking about the different components of a computer. This is by no means intended to be an invitation to disassemble your computer, nor is it a set of instructions to do so. Without the proper knowledge, you can severely damage your computer, and importantly, doing so is unsafe.

1. Motherboard

What it is: All components of a computer communicate through a circuit board called the motherboard, as was mentioned above.

What it does: Think of the motherboard as the glue that holds everything else together.

The motherboard’s video card and Central Processing Unit are contained in an integrated (built-in) chipset, shown in the picture below:

This is where input/output devices such as a keyboard, mouse, and speakers get plugged in.

2. Central Processing Unit (CPU)

What it is: The CPU is often called the «brain» of a computer, thanks to its direct plug connection to the motherboard, and communication with all of the computer’s other components.

What it does: Whenever you write a line of code (in Python, Java, C++, or any other programming language), it’s broken down into assembly language—which is a language that the processor can understand. It fetches, decodes, and executes these instructions.

And that’s where the CPU comes in—all the processes a computer handles are taken care of by the CPU.

3. Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)

What it is: It’s not uncommon to hear gamers obsess over the next new graphics card, as these graphic cards make it possible for computers to generate high-end visuals like those found in the many different types of video games.

In addition to video games, though, good graphics cards also come in handy for those who rely on images in order to execute their craft, like 3D modelers using resource-intensive software.

4. Random Access Memory (RAM)

What it is: RAM, also known as volatile memory, stores data regarding frequently accessed programs and processes. (It’s called volatile memory because it gets erased every time the computer restarts.)

What it does: RAM helps programs and games start up and close quickly.

5. Storage

What it is: All computers need somewhere to store their data. Modern computers either use a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD).

What it does: HDDs are made of an actual disk onto which data is stored. The disk is read by a mechanical arm. (HDDs are cheaper than SSDs, but are slowly becoming more and more obsolete.)

SSDs (think SIM cards) have no moving parts and are faster than a hard drive, because no time is spent waiting for a mechanical arm to find data on a physical location on the disk.

Fun, right?

Some enjoy computers from the frontend, spending time on YouTube, shopping on eBay, and playing video games (and experiencing the benefits of doing so.).

But for others, it’s the “how” that proves to be more intriguing! Taking computers apart and putting them back together, adding new hardware, troubleshooting hardware assembly, and booting them up (and crossing their fingers!) is all part of such intrigue.

(referred to as «iD Tech») including but not limited to iD Tech In-Person programs and iD Tech Online Programs. These terms apply to all lessons, classes, courses, and options offered by iD Tech (hereinafter referred to individually as “Program” or collectively “Programs”).

Privacy Policy: By using iD Tech’s website, registering you or your student for a Program, and/or affirmatively giving your agreement, you are agreeing on your own behalf and that of your student to abide and be bound by the Privacy Policy found HERE and the Terms and Conditions contained and referenced herein.

Online Programs: If you are purchasing, or you or your student is participating in an Online Program you also agree on your own behalf and on behalf of your student, to be bound by the additional terms and conditions found HERE.

On-Campus Programs: If you are purchasing, or you or your student is participating in, an On-Campus Program, you also agree on your own behalf and on behalf of your student to be bound by the additional terms and conditions found HERE.

I. Code of Conduct
To promote the best learning environment possible, all students and parents will be held to this Code of Conduct. Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct or engaging in actions or attitudes that seem to be harmful to the atmosphere, other participants, or staff, in the opinion of iD Tech can lead to removal from a Program or Program(s). iD Tech reserves the right to dismiss students from a Program and prevent a student from attending additional programs without any prior warning for (1) violating any of the terms of this code of conduct, or (2) if iD Tech determines that a Program is not a suitable and/or productive environment for a student (this includes incidents in which a student does not have sufficient English language skills to participate in the Program; participation in courses requires a high level of English understanding). Refunds will not be given for students dismissed for failure of the student or the parent to abide by the Code of Conduct, or if it is determined that a Program is not suitable for a student. While iD Tech strives to maintain excellent relationships with students, in some rare cases, we may determine that iD Tech is not a compatible environment for every student.

iD Tech offers Programs for students ages 7-19. Therefore, students may interact and/or room with a student that is within this age range including 18 or 19 years old. Please note the age range of the Program being registered for.

If a student is 18 or 19 years old and participating in an in-person Program, they must successfully pass a criminal and sexual offender background check prior to being allowed to attend. Clients are responsible for all costs and fees associated with any background checks required for a student to attend.

III. Special Accommodations
If a student requires a special accommodation to participate in an iD Tech Program, a parent/guardian must call iD Tech at 1-888-709-8324, no less than three weeks prior to the student’s first day of the Program to arrange reasonable accommodations.

If a student requires an aide to participate in an iD Tech Program, the aide must be age 18 or older, may not be a family member, and if it is an in-person Program, the aide must achieve a favorable result on a criminal background check. Aides may also be subject to fingerprinting. Clients are responsible for all direct costs, including background check processing fees, parking, and compensation for the aide’s attendance.

There may be other limitations as to how they apply, and codes must be submitted at the time of registration. iD Tech will not honor retroactive adjustments, and the total discounts received cannot exceed the total cost of the products purchased.

The Refer-a-Friend Program is a voluntary Program that applies to Small-Group Classes and In-Person Programs.

VIII. Certificates/Vouchers
All certificates/vouchers are non-refundable, non-transferable, and not redeemable for cash. Certificates/vouchers must be redeemed at the time of registration. Certificates/vouchers are valid until the specified expiration date, without exception. They are valid for up to the amount issued, and any amounts not used are forfeited.

X. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold internalDrive Inc. /iD Tech, its officers, directors, employees, and agents, harmless from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including, without limitation, reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs, arising out of or in any way connected with your student’s participation in an iD Tech Program.

XI. Arbitration Agreement
You agree that any dispute other than collection matters, arising out of or relating to this Agreement, you or your student’s participation in a Program with INTERNALDRIVE, INC., or otherwise arising between the parties, including, without limitation, any statutorily created or protected rights, as permitted by applicable state/provincial or federal laws, shall be settled by arbitration to be held in Santa Clara County, California, in accordance with the Commercial Rules of the American Arbitration Association, and judgment upon the award rendered by the arbitrator(s) may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction. The prevailing party in the arbitration shall be entitled to recover expenses including costs and reasonable attorney’s fees associated therewith. Should any part of this contract be found invalid or not enforceable by a court of law, then the remaining portion shall continue to be valid and in force. You hereby acknowledge that you understand the terms of this ARBITRATION AGREEMENT, and you agree to comply with all of its terms and provisions.

XII. Rights Reserved
internalDrive, Inc. reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. iD Tech is not a university-sponsored program. iD Tech reserves the right to cancel or modify any and all classes, lessons, Programs, or courses for any reason.

XIII. Release of Liability
ON BEHALF OF MY SON/DAUGHTER/WARD, I, THE PARENT/GUARDIAN, IN EXCHANGE FOR THE RIGHT OF MY SON/DAUGHTER/WARD TO PARTICIPATE IN ID TECH PROGRAM(S), HEREBY RELEASE INTERNALDRIVE, INC., ITS OWNERS, AGENTS, PARTNERS, FACILITY PROVIDERS AND EMPLOYEES FROM LIABILITY (INCLUDING CLAIMS BASED UPON NEGLIGENCE) FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGES OR INJURIES TO MY SON/DAUGHTER/WARD OR DAMAGE OF ANY PERSONAL PROPERTY. I AGREE TO BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL SUCH DAMAGES OR INJURIES WHICH MAY RESULT DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM ANY NEGLIGENT ACTS OR ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH INTERNALDRIVE, INC. HOWEVER, I UNDERSTAND THAT I AM NOT RELEASING INTERNALDRIVE, INC., ITS OWNERS, AGENTS, PARTNERS, FACILITY PROVIDERS, AND EMPLOYEES FROM GROSS NEGLIGENCE, RECKLESS CONDUCT OR INTENTIONALLY TORTIOUS CONDUCT. TO THE EXTENT THIS RELEASE CONFLICTS WITH STATE/PROVINCIAL LAW GOVERNING RELEASES, THIS RELEASE IS TO BE GIVEN THE FULLEST FORCE AND EFFECT PERMITTED UNDER STATE/PROVINCIAL LAW. SHOULD ANY PART OF THIS CONTRACT BE FOUND INVALID OR NOT ENFORCEABLE BY A COURT OF LAW, THEN THE REMAINING PORTION SHALL CONTINUE TO BE VALID AND IN FORCE.

iD Tech partners with and uses the intellectual property of some amazing companies. You and your student agree to uphold the copyright and trademark rights of iD Tech, its partners, and any company whose products are used during an iD Tech Program.

STANFORD UNIVERSITY:

Assumption of Risk, Release of Claims and Hold Harmless Agreement

The parties to this Agreement are the student attending an iD Tech Program at Stanford University (Participant), Participant’s parents or legal guardian, if Participant is under 18, (all referred to hereafter jointly and severally as «Participant») and the Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University its officers, trustees, faculty, agents, representatives, volunteers, students and employees (collectively referred to hereafter as «Stanford”) for iD Tech programs held at Stanford University (“Event”) (“Stanford” and “Event” are collectively referred to hereafter as “Released Parties”).

Assumption of Risk. Participant is a voluntary participant in this Event. Participant understands and agrees that the Event and any related activities may be dangerous, may involve travel, and that neither the Event nor Stanford can guarantee the safety of Participant. Participant is responsible for researching and evaluating the risks he/she may face and is responsible for his/her actions. Any activities in which Participant may take part, whether as a component of the Event or separate from it, have been undertaken with Participant’s understanding and acceptance of any and all risks involved, which include but are not limited to physical or psychological injury, pain, suffering, disfigurement, temporary or permanent disability, economic or emotional loss, property loss or damage, loss of income or career opportunities, and/or death. Participant understands that these injuries or outcomes may arise from his/her own or others’ actions, inaction, or negligence; conditions related to travel; or the condition of the location where the Event is taking place. Nonetheless, Participant assumes all related risks, both known or unknown, whether or not listed above, of his/her participation in the Event, including travel to, from and during the Event.

Physical Condition and Insurance. Participant attests that she/he is physically and mentally capable of participating and has no known health or other restrictions that might jeopardize her/his safety or health or the safety or health of others during their participation in the Event. Participant gives permission for Stanford or its representative to provide immediate and reasonable emergency care should it be required. Participant agrees to hold harmless and indemnify Stanford from any claims, causes of action, damages and/or liabilities, arising out of or resulting from said medical treatment or emergency care.

Participant agrees to be solely responsible for payment in full of all costs of medical or emergency care she/he may receive.

Video Release. Participant agrees that Stanford may record, edit, use, reproduce, publish and distribute by way of any and all media and transmission, the visual and/or audio likeness of Participant and other commentaries, information, and materials the Participant may provide in connection with the Event, which includes, without limitation, Participant’s name, biographical information, recorded voice, likeness, commentaries, presentation materials, and/or performance at the Event. Stanford is further granted permission to use such materials for educational, fund-raising, promotional or other purposes worldwide and in perpetuity Participant agrees that Stanford will be held harmless from any liability that may arise regarding the production, use, and distribution of such materials as described herein, and Stanford is hereby released from any claims relating to the rights granted above.

Waiver and Release of Claims. In consideration of being accepted into and/or participating in the Event, Participant agrees to and hereby does, for Participant and on behalf of Participant’s heirs, executors, administrators, employers, agents, representatives, insurers, and attorneys, release and discharge Stanford of and from any and all claims which may arise from any cause whatsoever, including claims arising from any negligent act or omission by Stanford or others. Participant further releases and discharges Stanford from liability for any accident, illness, injury, loss or damage to personal property, or any other consequences, arising or resulting directly or indirectly from Participant’s participation in the Event.

Indemnification and Hold Harmless. Participant hereby agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Stanford from any and all claims of injury, loss or liability whatsoever including reasonable attorneys’ fees and/or any other associated costs, that may arise as a result of his/her participation in the Event. If Stanford incurs any of these types of expenses, Participant agrees to reimburse Stanford.

To the extent Participant engages in activities that are not part of the Event and from which Participant may sustain personal injury or other damage to him/herself or property, or cause others to be injured or sustain other damage including damage to their property, Participant understands that neither Stanford, nor any of its employees, officers, directors, volunteers, and agents will be held responsible regardless of cause or fault.

Adherence to Standards. Participant understands and agrees to abide by all Stanford policies, rules, and regulations applicable to the Event.

Severability. It is understood and agreed that, if any provision of this Agreement or the application thereof is held invalid, the invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this Agreement which can be given effect without the invalid provisions or applications. To this end, the provisions of this Agreement are declared severable.

Governing Law and Venue. This Agreement shall be construed in accordance with, and governed by, the laws of the State of California. The venue for any action arising out of this Agreement shall be the County of Santa Clara, State of California. The parties agree to submit to jurisdiction in the State Courts, Santa Clara County, California.

Construction and Scope of Agreement. The language of all parts of this Agreement shall in all cases be construed as a whole, according to its fair meaning, and not strictly for or against any party. This Agreement is the only, sole, entire, and complete agreement of the parties relating in any way to the subject matter hereof. No statements, promises, or representations have been made by any party to any other, or relied upon, and no consideration has been offered or promised, other than as may be expressly provided herein. This Assumption of Risk, Release of Claims, Indemnification, and Hold Harmless and Agreement supersedes any earlier written or oral understandings or agreements between the parties.

Participant acknowledges that he/she has read this Assumption of Risk, Release of Claims, Indemnification and Hold Harmless Agreement, understands its meaning and effect, and agrees to be bound by its terms.

I know the nature of the Activity and My Child’s experience and capabilities and consider My Child to be qualified to participate in the Activity. However, I acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury or illness associated with the Activity.

In return for My Child’s participation in the Activity: I fully and forever RELEASE, WAIVE, DISCHARGE, ACQUIT, INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS and COVENANT NOT TO SUE, Washington University in St. Louis, including its governing board, officers, employees, students, agents and volunteers (hereinafter collectively referred to as «Releasees») from any and all liabilities, claims, or injuries, including death, that may be sustained while participating in this activity, including but not limited to travel to, from, and for the activity, or while on premises owned or controlled by Releasees. I understand this release does not apply to injuries caused by intentional or grossly negligent conduct on the part of the Releasees. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless Releasees for any loss, liability, claim or injury caused by me (my child) while participating in this activity including traveling to, from, and for the activity, or while on premises owned or controlled by Releasees.

I recognize that the Releasees do not assume responsibility for or liability for – including costs and attorney’s fees – any accident or injury or damage resulting from any aspect of participation in the Activity. The Releasees are not liable for any special, incidental or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with any aspect of participation in the Activity.

I also give permission for My Child to receive any emergency medical treatment by a healthcare professional, including emergency medical transportation, which may be required for injuries sustained by My Child. However, I agree that the Releasees (including, but not limited to, each of the Releasees’ regents, boards, agents, employees, officers or representatives) are not responsible for any medical bill incurred as a result of any personal illness or injury to My Child, even if a Releasee has signed hospital documentation promising to pay for the treatment. That medical bill is my responsibility.

I understand that agreeing to this document, I give up substantial rights that I or My Child would have otherwise to receive damages for any loss occasioned by Releasees’ fault, and I agree to it voluntarily and without inducement.

Summer Program Permission Slip / Rules & Regulations

Residence hall rules and regulations with regard to student conduct and the use of facilities are established in compliance with state and federal laws and the University of Michigan Regents’ by-laws. Program registration is predicated upon the understanding and compliance with these rules and regulations. All program participants, students, must abide by our rules and regulations regardless of age. This includes counselors, organizers, and any program personnel residing and visiting in the residence halls. The cooperation of everyone is required if summer programs are to be successful and rewarding for all participants. Important Note to Participants and Custodial Parents and Legal Guardians. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you confirm that you understand and agree to abide by the full content of the Rules and Regulations as documented by the university. You understand that failure to abide by these rules and regulations may result in various forms of discipline, up to and including immediate dismissal from the program. RESIDENCE HALL RULES AND REGULATIONS

Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, laser pens, fireworks, explosives, and all weapons are absolutely prohibited in the hall. It is against the law to tamper or misuse building fire alarm or fire-fighting equipment. Tampering with or misuse of elevator alarms, emergency call buttons or calling 911 from a room or elevator telephone, except in an emergency, is against the law. Penalties will be enforced.

Each room will be inspected prior to arrival and before departure and any damages to the room or to University property will be assessed and charged to the program, which may then be assessed to the participant. The room must be left in the same condition as it was during move in. Do not fasten anything to the walls or tamper with window screens. Excessive mess resulting in extra housekeeping hours will result in a charge to the program, and may be passed on to the student.

Appropriate behavior is expected at all times. Engaging in sexual contact with another student is a violation of our conduct policy. Leaving the program or residence hall without permission and appropriate supervision is a violation of our conduct policy. Bullying, taunting or threatening behavior toward other students is a violation of our conduct policy. Excessive noise or rowdiness will not be tolerated. Dangerous behavior, including fighting, is a violation and will not be tolerated. Throwing items out of residence hall windows is a conduct violation.

The use of candles, open flames, explosives, smoke bombs, “snaps”, or fireworks is dangerous and will not be tolerated in the residence halls, or at any U-M facility.

WE ARE A SMOKE FREE CAMPUS. SMOKING ON CAMPUS OR IN OUR BUILDINGS IS PROHIBITED.

All students residing in a University of Michigan residence hall must be ten (10) years of age on or before the start of their program. There are no exceptions to this policy.

All medications prescribed by a doctor must be dispensed by program nurse or counselors. Please fill out the medical forms and bring medications to the attention of the program staff at registration. Housing staff are not authorized to dispense medications.

ALL VISITORS, INCLUDING PARENTS MUST CHECK-IN FIRST WITH THE FRONT DESK WHEN VISITING A STUDENT. Only students and program staff are allowed in the living areas of the building. At no time are students permitted in the living areas to which they are not assigned. Students may only be checked out of the residence hall by a parent/guardian or program staff. Visitors, other than parents, who may be taking the student from the residence hall, must be approved by the parent/guardian during registration.

KEYS AND STUDENT IDENTIFICATION

Students are identified in a variety of ways including room keys and lanyards. Some programs may use wristbands. Any identification specific to the program will be issued along with a room keycard and lanyard at check-in. If the identification is lost, a replacement may be obtained at the front desk or from a staff member. The room keycard and identification should not be loaned to anyone and are not transferable.

You may eat at any time during the hours your program has designated for meals. Students may be asked to show program identification at mealtime. In the case of lost identification, help is always available from dining and program staff. Meal hours will be provided by your program staff and are available from residence hall staff as well. Students are expected to eat meals in their assigned dining facility during their designated meal times. Food allergies should be reported to the program and dining staff prior to the student’s arrival.

Land lines are being phased out of residence halls due to the prevailing use of cell phones by our students. Students may place collect and credit card calls from their room phone (if available) and receive long distance calls. Counselors will assist students with urgent telephone needs.

Students are not to bring private automobiles or motorcycles to the University. If it is necessary for a student to drive, please discuss permission and parking with the program organizers. The vehicle must be registered and the keys turned in to the program organizers/counselors during the entire program. The University assumes no responsibility for a stored vehicle on University property.

The University assumes no responsibility for personal property. Please leave valuable electronic items at home. Bring only a small amount of personal expense money with you since the halls do not have any secured storage facilities. You may wish to consult with your insurance company regarding coverage of your personal property while away at program.

FOR SECURITY, ROOM DOORS ARE TO BE LOCKED AT ALL TIMES.

Room checks will be conducted by program staff to determine room damages. Any damages caused in the rooms or common areas will be charged to the program. The program may decide to pass along damage expenses to the student.

LINENS & ITEMS TO BRING

Students are responsible for bringing their own pillow, XL twin bed sheets or sleeping bag, blanket, towels, and toiletries.

Other recommended items include an alarm clock, a fan and sun block. Students may bring water or beverages to keep in their rooms. Refrigerators are not available through the Residence Hall.

If a student must leave before the official ending date for the program, a parent or guardian must notify the program organizers, and fill out any necessary forms with the program. If the student is being picked up by someone other than the person designated parent/guardian, written permission naming the responsible adult must be placed on the back of the registration card, during registration, prior to the student being released. A signed Early Release form from the program organizer must be turned in upon checking out from the resident hall. Identification is required.

VIOLATION OF THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS MAY RESULT IN DISCIPLINE, UP TO AND INCLUDING IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM THE PROGRAM AND SUBSEQUENT U-M PROGRAMS.

Students are reminded about proper behavior upon their arrival. Inappropriate behavior will be pointed out and verbal warnings will be given to students by organizers and counselors to correct the behavior. Students who endanger themselves or others, or who continue to commit violations after having been warned, will be sent home. The parent/guardian will be notified and asked to pick up the student immediately.

Release of Liability, Promise Not to Sue, Assumption of Risk and Agreement to Pay Claims

In consideration for being allowed to participate in this Activity and/or use of the Premises or Facility, on behalf of myself and my next of kin, heirs and representatives, I release from all liability and promise not to sue the State of California, the Trustees of the California State University, California State University San Marcos, and their employees, officers, directors, volunteers and agents (collectively “University”) and the California State University San Marcos Corporation (CSUSM Corporation), Associated Students, Inc., California State University San Marcos Foundation, University Village Apartments, The QUAD, Urban Villages San Marcos (UVSM), Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM) and their employees, officers, directors, volunteers and agents (collectively “Auxiliary Organizations”) from any and all claims, including claims of the University’s or Auxiliary Organization’s negligence, resulting in any physical or psychological injury (including paralysis and death), illness, damages, or economic or emotional loss I may suffer because of my participation in this Activity, including travel to, from and during the Activity.

I am voluntarily participating in this Activity. I am aware of the risks associated with traveling to/from and participating in this Activity, which include but are not limited to physical or psychological injury, pain, suffering, illness, disfigurement, temporary or permanent disability (including paralysis), economic or emotional loss, and/or death and/or property damage. I understand that these injuries or outcomes may arise from my own or other’s actions, inaction, or negligence; conditions related to travel; or the condition of the Activity location(s). I agree to hold the University and the Auxiliary Organizations harmless from any and all claims, including attorney’s fees or damage to my personal property that may occur as a result of my participation in this Activity, including travel to, from and during the Activity. If the University or the Auxiliary Organizations incur any of these types of expenses, I agree to reimburse the University or the Auxiliary Organizations. If I need medical treatment, I agree to be financially responsible for any costs incurred as a result of such treatment. I am aware and understand that I should carry my own health insurance.

I am 18 years or older. I understand the legal consequences of signing this document, including (a) releasing the University and the Auxiliary Organizations from all liability, (b) promising not to sue the University and the Auxiliary Organizations (c) and assuming all risks of participating in this Activity, including travel to, from and during the Activity.

I understand that this document is written to be as broad and inclusive as legally permitted by the State of California. I agree that if any portion is held invalid or unenforceable, I will continue to be bound by the remaining terms.

I have read this document, and I am signing it freely. No other representations concerning the legal effect of this document have been made to me.

If Participant is under 18 years of age:

I am the parent or legal guardian of the Participant. I understand the legal consequences of signing this document, including (a) releasing the University and the Auxiliary Organizations from all liability, (b) promising not to sue the University and the Auxiliary Organizations, (c) and assuming all risks of participating in this Activity, including travel to, from and during the Activity. I allow Participant to participate in this Activity. I understand that I am responsible for the obligations and acts of Participant as described in this document. THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT DALLAS

Participant Release and Indemnification Agreement

By agreeing to these terms and conditions I give permission for my child to participate in iD Tech’s camps/academies. I acknowledge that the nature of the camp/conference could possibly expose my child to hazards or risks that could result in illness, personal injury, or death and I understand and appreciate the nature of such hazards and risks. I grant UT Dallas and its employees full authority to take whatever action they may consider to be warranted under any circumstances regarding the protection of my child’s health and safety. I understand and agree that if my child does not comply with all the rules, code of conduct, and instructions relating to this camp/academy, UT Dallas has the right to terminate his/her participation in this camp/conference without refund.

I also agree, on behalf of myself and my child, to assume all risks related to participation in the Event, including but not limited to accident, death, injury or illness, including personal or bodily or mental injury of any nature. In consideration of my student’s voluntary participation in the Conference and use of Loyola’s facilities, (i) I hereby assume all risks of injury which may result from my student’s participation in the Conference and use of Loyola’s facilities, and (ii) I agree, on behalf of myself, my student and our heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, to waive, indemnify, hold harmless, release and discharge Loyola, its affiliates, including Mundelein College, and their respective officers, trustees, directors, employees, agents, successors and assigns from any and all claims, damages, demands, rights of action or causes of action, present or future, known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated, resulting from, or arising out of, my student’s participation in the Conference, and use of Loyola’s facilities. Please read this form carefully and be aware that in seeking permission from Northwestern University for your child to participate in a Northwestern University event, you will be waiving all claims for injuries you might sustain arising out of your participation. Participation in this event is voluntary and at your own discretion and judgement.

As a participant in the iD Tech Summer Camp for the summer of 2022, I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury and I agree to assume the full risk of any injuries, damages, or loss that I may sustain. Such risks inherent to this event may include: bodily injury.

In consideration for the Attendee being permitted to participate in the iD Tech Program (“Activity”), I do waive and release forever any and all rights for claims and damages I may have against Fairleigh Dickinson University, its trustees, officers, agents, and employees, from and against any and all liability for any harm, injury damage, claims demands, actions, costs, and expenses of any nature which Attendee, whether caused by negligence or carelessness on the part of the Fairleigh Dickinson University, it officers, agents, and employees, or otherwise, while Attendee is in, on, upon, or in transit to or from the premises where the Activity, or any adjunct to the Activity, occurs or is being conducted.

I accept, understand and assume that there is a risk of injury in this Activity, due to the physical nature of the Activity, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, and being injured by equipment used in the camp. Attendee agrees to follow all instructions and to wear all necessary, recommended, and appropriate protective gear and equipment.

I understand that this Activity is neither administered nor sponsored by Fairleigh Dickinson University and that iD Tech is providing this instruction or camp outside the scope of his/her employment with Fairleigh Dickinson University. I agree to release, hold harmless, and indemnify Fairleigh Dickinson University, its trustees, officers, agents, and employees from any and all claims and liability arising out of the Activity.

These additional Terms and Conditions are intended to keep students safe and make iD Tech Online programs positive and productive. By purchasing, using, or allowing your student to use any of iD Tech’s Online programs, you agree that you and your student will abide and be bound by these Terms and Conditions as well as iD Tech’s General Terms and Conditions found HERE. In cases where these Terms and Conditions and iD Tech’s General Terms and Conditions conflict, the terms found herein apply to any iD Tech Online Program or Product.

I. Online Private Lessons (OPL)

A. General Information

Subscriptions shall renew each month on the date indicated at the time of purchase.

All lessons must be scheduled within one year of purchase. Lessons expire a year from purchase, with no refund.

Fees for Online Private Lessons are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Lessons not used by the expiration date are forfeited and cannot be refunded in full or prorated.

Lessons can be rescheduled for any reason up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson through your My Account. If your student fails to attend a scheduled lesson, the lesson will be deducted from your available sessions. No changes can be made within 24 hours of the lesson start time. A post-lesson progress report will be sent to your email address on file upon completion of each lesson.

Lessons are only available for subjects set out by iD Tech.

Lessons will only be taught in English.

For safety and security reasons, iD Tech will video record every lesson. Parents and guardians may request to have a video deleted by sending an email request to privacy@idtech.com. If there are multiple students in the lesson from different families, we must retain the video to protect the privacy of the students. Except when legally required, we are not able to provide copies of videos.

Generally, only one student per lesson is allowed. However, iD Tech reserves the right to allow parents to share their lesson link with one other student. All students that participate in the lesson are bound by these Terms and Conditions including our code of conduct.

iD Tech has the right to refuse service.

Lessons are a guidance/tutoring service only. No specific outcomes are promised or guaranteed. iD Tech is not responsible for any specific outcome or lack thereof.

B. Scheduling/Rescheduling Online Private Lessons

You are responsible for scheduling all lessons via your My Account or by contacting 1-888-709-8324.

You can reschedule a lesson through your My Account. All rescheduling must be done with more than 24 hours notice. If sufficient notice is not provided, then the session is treated as a no-show, and the lesson will be deducted from your lesson balance.

II. Small-Group Classes

Fees for Small Group Classes are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

Only students registered for the class may participate.

Classes are only available for subjects set out by iD Tech.

Classes will only be taught in English.

Changes to a class start date, subject, or time can be made either through your My Account, or by calling Customer Service at least 72 hours prior to the start date of the class. Changes cannot be made less than 72 hours prior to the start of a class or once the class has started.

III. Equipment and other Add-Ons

iD Tech does not warrant or guarantee the fitness of any equipment or add ons purchased, nor is iD Tech liable for any injuries or damages caused by the equipment or add ons purchased.

Equipment and add ons can only be delivered to physical addresses within the continental United States (No PO Boxes).

You must contact the manufacturer if any issues arise with the equipment or add on.

Please ensure that there is at least two weeks of delivery time between add on/equipment purchase and the date of the first class/lesson that incorporates the equipment or add on.

Equipment/add ons are non-returnable and non-refundable.

Parent / Guardian Authorization for Off-Site Walking Trip

The Maryland Department of Health has requested we obtain permission that you have given iD Tech approval of the following sections of our Terms and Conditions.

IMPORTANT POLICIES SECTION
You certify that your student is in good health and able to participate in the program activities. You authorize the program staff to attend to health issues or injuries your student may incur while attending the program. You acknowledge that you will be financially responsible for any medical treatment needed during the duration of the program. You give iD Tech staff members permission to take your son/daughter/ward to places of relevant interest, the swimming pool (where available), guided campus tours, and facilities within walking distance of the program, both on and off campus.

You give permission for your student to go the places described below during his/her time at iD Tech. You understand that your student will be supervised by staff while on a walking trip.

Occasionally, staff will take students to a location on and off campus to visit a local venue. This might involve going to another building on campus, a campus facility tour, a trip to a park, an outing to a local mall, or going to a movie theater. All events would be in walking distance of the program facilities.

Important Note to Participants and Custodial Parents and Legal Guardians: By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you confirm that you understand and agree to the full content of the above. COLLEGE PREP: ADVISING SESSION TERMS & CONDITIONS

I. Code of Conduct

I agree that I have read through, understand, and agree that I and my student will be held to the Code of Conduct set forth below. I also agree that I have reviewed the Code of Conduct with my student(s). I understand that I and my student must act in a way that is in keeping with the Code of Conduct and that my student’s Advising Session can be canceled if either of our actions or attitudes seem to be harmful to the atmosphere, or staff, in the opinion of iD Tech staff. I and my student understand that iD Tech reserves the right to cancel my student’s Advising Session without any prior warning for violating any of the terms of the Code of Conduct. Refunds will not be given if a session is canceled for failure of the student or the parent to abide by the code of conduct. I also acknowledge that upon staff observation of my student during the Advising Session, they may determine that the program is not a suitable and/or productive environment for my student. In this case, iD Tech may cancel the session and no refund will be issued. iD Tech strives to maintain excellent relationships with students. However, in some rare cases, iD Tech Advising Sessions may not be a compatible environment for every student.

VIII. Restrictions On Child Users (those under the age of 13)

Children under 13 years of age are prevented from accessing areas of iD Sites & Services which include, but are not restricted to, client account information and course content defined as age inappropriate by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), except as set out below or otherwise unless approved by their parent or guardian.

By allowing your child to participate in our programs and/or use our services, you explicitly give us permission to ask and for your child to provide demographic information such as their age, gender, as well as general geographic location (we will not be asking for an address, email address or phone number)information. You also give us permission to ask your child to provide feedback of the program they are participating in, and to share all the information provided by your student with our curriculum and social impact partners in an aggregate form. We will not individually provide the information your child provided.

IX. Forums And Chats

We may offer forums and chat rooms. Please be aware that anyone may read postings on a forum or in a chat room. Furthermore, any information which is posted to a forum or chat room could include personal information, which would be disclosed and available to all users of that forum or chat room, and is therefore no longer private. We cannot guarantee the security of information that any user discloses or communicates online in public areas such as forums and chat rooms. Those who do so, do so at their own risk. We reserve the right to monitor the content of the forums and chat rooms. If age-inappropriate content or potentially identifiable information is seen, it may be removed or edited by us for security, privacy, and/or legal reasons. We will not republish postings from forums or chat rooms anywhere on the Web.

If you choose to pay by credit card, we will keep your credit card information on file, but we do not display that information at the online registration site. iD Tech provides several opportunities for social networking for both participants and staff on sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube. These sites are not affiliated with iD Tech and offer their own individual social networking services. Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully, as well as the Terms and Conditions of the sites in which iD Tech has created a forum («Group»). These Terms and Conditions are a legal agreement between you and iD Tech and apply to you whether you are a visitor to these sites or any site with an official iD Tech affiliation.

iD Tech is a member of several pre-existing sites (as mentioned above). There may be, however, portions of www.iDTech.com that include areas where participants can post submissions. Any of the above-mentioned «Sites» (or other similar sites) have their own distinct rules and regulations. iD Tech reserves the right to take action to remove any content deemed inappropriate by the sites or by iD Tech standards. iD Tech will not be held liable for any loss of content or disagreements that may arise between the individual social networking site and the user.

You understand that by registering for an iD Tech program, your participant(s) may access and upload content to social networking sites. In order to access certain features of the social networking sites or pages on iDTech.com, and to post Member Submissions, the majority of these sites require that the user open an account with them. You hereby authorize your participant to access social networking sites while at camp and create an account if they choose to do so and if they meet the requirements listed by each site to create an account.
